I think I am being reasonable....

I don't really want to draw this out into a huge debate, but my motivation is deeper than just a personal attack on you. I don't have a problem with you or anything lol, I barely even know you. So why would this be personal? I just possibly don't understand your viewpoint, or maybe you don't understand mine.....

However, ultimately read what I quoted.... thats an opinion. Its not a fact, but your masquerading it around as if it were one. Ultimately when I read that I think, you like modern music more than classical music, cause thats your opinion, and thats fine. I'd just like you to own your opinions and admit that its possible for people to disagree with this and still be right in their own way.

    Thats all my motivation is...

Also perhaps you weren't masquerading it around as a fact... but I got that notion somehow.... I felt as though you were trying to justify your opinion with logic, when essentially no logic is nessicary for having an opinion... I don't need to explain to people why I like strawberries over cherries, further I'd probably kind of find it offensive if I ordered cherries and the person next to me was like "ohhh cherries, I used to like those, but now days, you know with the growth of farming - it being the whole golden age of agriculture and all, the level of other types of produce is umm so much more advanced, so I've moved on to strawberries.... you know just saying, enjoy those ummmm cherries though....."

I don't have much to add to this thread here because HaveLucidDreamz has explained her thoughts so well. I read her posts and am in 100% agreement with what she says. I have had the same sorts of thoughts myself. So I'm wondering if these types of thoughts are common to LII's or just a quirk.

But you have to know, Thur out this thread I have never disagree with the fact that you think it was unfair to compare both artist's talent from the classical period to the modern era. Which you insistently point out, and which I have never disagree with you upon, but you speak in a term that "sounds" like I said, "hey the artist at that time sucked and people are just more talented today than before". while all I am saying is that I do think music has more varieties which IMO is better than it was before, and I am not comparing other factors but just the music itself, NOT comparing the industry itself where there is more talent now, and bigger industry than it was before back in the classical Era, I was never comparing it you read careful but you defended your point as if I was comparing it.

Classical music is indeed boring, old and dead. Fortunately there were a number of brilliant minds that managed to redeem the field against all odds and produce works that stood the test of time. If you choose your artists carefully, you can find things worth listening to.

Yea your completely correct I did do that, but I get defensive on certain issues, hopefully you understand why, its not personal and I didn't mean to "attack" you on it, your compeltely justified in what you said and have said.

Yea, I don't think its boring/old/dead.... but I do appreciate the revivals of it alot.

To me its not some dusty old crap, its just another type of music thats a bit outdated, why does that make it boring, are all old things boring?... I don't understand this idea, to me I find old things fascinating.... hmm but I've gone on enough so I'll stop here.

I'm still waiting to find someone who can play Raindrops right, all of the versions I've heard on youtube feel wrong.

when did you develop a good taste in music? Favorite Chopin player is Rubinstein. For "Raindrops" though I'd have to say Igoshina. She's probably the best slow Chopin; Rubinstein does the faster tempos better.

Nice piece, Golden, and also an instrument I've never seen before. It's like encountering a giraffe for the first time.

His sound compared to a few other theorbo players' videos I just watched reminded me of this:

I've never been a big fan of Mozart, but recently I've been listening to some of his choral pieces . I got inspired from watching "Amadeus." Great movie.
