I find this quite true. It's not even necessarily that I want to be my own type, nor do I want to fit in, but I want to be recognized as a unique individual, and sometimes this draws the assumption that "my type" needs to be more like me, or there is no way I can consider them my type. But we're all at different stages, we all come from different backgrounds. What do type 4s think about categories? How about Ti valuer type 4s, is there constant back and forth struggle? How do you characterize these elements?
I don't see fours clicking with each other in this thread, so you actually might be on to something.

Hmm, I am a 4w5 and crazedrat is a 4w5. That's something interesting I learned from this thread.

Uhh, original question, on not finding common ground with sociotype because 4s see all the ways in which they are distinct from the sociotype: I do not relate to this. Maybe I'm not reading it correctly.

Nevermind I don't even get this thread. Forget it.

Because I think of you as interesting and me as boring. But maybe I'm not boring, or maybe you're not interesting.

Okay, I've thought about it, and I don't have trouble finding common ground with my sociotype. I feel very similar to other EIIs, regardless of their enneatype. In fact, I fully credit discovering Socionics and Deltas with helping me to feel a little less like an alien who doesn't belong to the human race. I haven't known too many Deltas in my life, and I haven't had much opportunity to work with them or spend much time around them. My family, both immediate and extended, is full of Alphas and Gammas, which has sufficed to make me feel just a little out of place all the time.

I never quite understood why some people have so much difficulty deciding their socionics type, because they're all so different, especially with quadra values thrown into the mix. So I can't identify with this issue, although I acknowledge that others deal with it.
