Hmm, that is an enlightening suggestion!
On the raising of the top rate of income tax to 50%, he said something along the lines of "Taxing half of a person's income...that's immoral, isn't it?". He seems to use that sort of phraseology a lot, and yet he can distinguish between the UK and Zimbabwe. And although he sticks to his guns and is able to argue very effectively and know when someone is bullshitting, he does seem able to listen and not see everything in terms of black and white. For example, he did a programme on the death penalty (which he once supported, but I don't know about whether he was in favour at the time he did the show). He isn't a politician anymore, and I don't really remember him in office, but he did seem to be quite rare in that he was quite perceptive.
