I still insist that most ILE song ever is "One Week" by the Barenaked Ladies

Also, please note that the Barenaked Ladies are so awesome that they recorded a bunch of their greatest hits on webcam in a bathroom for youtube.

Doesn't capture the Ne spirit though

And it also ruins the cool duality I have going.

Are you crapping me? That song is SO Ne, lol. I don't even know how to grab examples because it foams Ne at the mouth.

And I don't really think your cool duality is presenting each partner equally. Motivating SEIs is supposed to be a byproduct of being ILE, not their fundamental description. We're not babysitters. Banana Pancakes and I actually JUST had a conversation about this, lol.

It's not frenetic enough. This is my point.

Of course, IRL, ILEs aren't that frenetic either... but I'm an ILE, and I'm clearly detached from reality, so how would I know?

And anyway, you're just full of yourself. ILEs are clearly SEIs' bitches. Duh.

So, I said I would respond to that post. Here's my take:

Trying to discuss things with you was difficult because you refused to really hear anything I was saying. You would either rationalize it in a way that completely missed the point, or you would simply give me a "Well Brill says..." response. I didn't really find you were treating any of the things I was saying as having any merit because they did not agree with Brill's perspective. And keep in mind that it is not simply my perspective that I was expressing either. I was acting as the voice of a number of people who felt the same way as me. Believe it or not, I do peer review my thoughts on socionics.

"Well Brill says" happens because he uses clear logic that I can follow and ask questions about.

Ignoring you happens because you appear to not use logic at all.

This discussion gets us nowhere, however.

You make a thread for all your arguments for ILE and against SEI so it's at least clear what we're actually saying.

Default The Music of the Types

I believe each type has a very specific flavor of music that isn't particularly appreciated by other types, except possibly duals.

Post music that you think appeals and illustrates the type in a visual or audible way. This music should show their attitudes, their moods, their auras or their general outlook on life.

    I'll start:

i could have fun with this sort of thing if it isn't taken too literally. obviously its not true that only esis can appreciate type o negative but if subjectively the vibe matches for you, that's kind of interesting. i used to have similar thoughts when i was into socionics more. if any of it comes back to mind i'll post it here.

The ILE one made me want to vomit instantaneously. I can't stand a lot of music I have seen attributed to Alpha NTs so segregating music this way really annoys me. If you want to throw socionics at it however, I guess you should attribute it to ILEish "emotional anchoring". If it helps I am a huge fan of Em and 7/8 time gives me a major boner.

really? I chose the song primarily because my ILE friend listens to angels and airwaves all the time. That was really the only reason I picked it.

Yes. The particular song AA picked irritates me too. I do like some music I have seen typed SEI, but mostly I'll look to other quadras. If you're looking for songs that represent different types, fine. Personal taste seems a different matter entirely though.

I can see why you chose this song. I was trying to portray the thoughts stirring inside of the personalities as opposed to their appearance.

I've looked up some info on musical processing and from this article it sounds like music engages the entire mind, so the response would be quite idiosyncratic - http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neur...b1/Sancar.html

... The neuronal connections which ensue from this juncture of the auditory nerve is quite complex and difficult to distinguish. In order to process a melody, many 'higher' functioning areas of the brain (such as the frontal lobes) are greatly involved. The area of the brain which integrates the intensity and pitch information relayed from the cochlea is the brain stem. The brain stem is also important in localizing sound. This function is thought of as more rudimentary or primitive form of processing music as it is most related to a physical response (as in locating prey or a potential mate). It does, however, also work to define and shape sounds helping to identify individual notes. (1) This 'crude' form of information is presumably shunted to areas of the cerebral cortex where more complex assessment of notes are achieved.

In particular, the auditory cortex interprets sounds within the context of what has preceded. Specifically, the right-brain auditory cortex specializes in determining hierarchies of harmonic relations and rich overtones whereas the left auditory hemisphere deciphers relationships between successions of sounds (i.e.-- the sequencing of sounds and perception of rhythm)(1). It should be noted that the right-brain auditory cortex is particularly adept at analyzing the highly harmonic vowel sounds of language (1). It is very interesting to note that the left brain is also involved in the sequencing of words and ideas and is considered the 'seat' of language (1). In fact, through MRI scans, it has been recognized that one of the areas of the brain used to decipher language may also 'contain' the ability to conceive absolute pitch. ...

The INTj music wasn't very interesting in my mind. Nothing really... happened. I feel like I'm prejudiced towards music which suits the kind of genres I like, so I can't comment on what music is typical of types (specifically, music which appeals to my type). Then again, maybe that's the idea- and the genres/kinds of music within those genres which I like are shaped by my type. But isn't music preference related to, like, music you hear in the womb and stuff?

Separately, the only song I have liked so far in this thread are the ILE songs (the Angels and Airways- "The Adventure", and R.E.M.- "Stand"). So maybe that means something. Do types of certain quadras usually make music which responds to that type? Because I like They Might Be Giants and Reg Spektor which are both, in my mind, "Alpha" things..
    Warm Regards,

( vids do not want to work for me idk why)

Now this is a story all about how, my type got changed, turned upside down. Just wait for a minute and watch chatbox right there, & I'll tell how Gem became the moderator with blue hair.

In typology central friended and praised, on the picture thread was where she spent most her days. Chilling out, selfies, relaxing all cool, And all typing some people and getting them schooled.

When a couple of girls who were up to no good, Started annoying her & her friends in the forumhood, She got in one little flame war & got pissed off & said 'I'm moving in with that exboyfriend in the forum with the socionics toffs.

So Gem pulls up to the forum for a year without being a hater, And yells to typocentral 'Yo creeps! Smell Ya later', Became a mod in her kingdom she was finally there, To sit on her throne as the mod with blue hair.

Can't actually stomach Queen and R.E.M., whatever those bands types are, but this is fine:

Agarina's LSE stuff is alright as well, she is going to slap me now. All in all, I find her taste in music somewhat superior, so I'm well laid, as in, shrimped.

I can see why one might think so but Simon Posford is IEI-Fe. He's very subdued on stage. Raja Ram is probably Fe dominant.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I would agree. The first song does not sound as very rational to me, so I can say that the presentation is irrational and more perception than judgement. IEI do have lighthearted emotional songs Fe. Profile of the music is static Id-Superego.The second could be SLE, sounds irrational to me.

Typing of music should be related to dichotomies of the typology ina frist place. General dichotomies are extro-intro, raz-irraz and statics- dynamics. More basic relate to functions of Jung.
It may be easier to analyse music when you come from more general perspective to detailed one.
In some music you pick up the general character of music very quickly which is temperament or mood. In the other music you may feel very quickly one of the functions. Put them together - you can analyse and type music in a right way.
I associate extro-intro with loudness or power of the sound, rythm - static versus dynamics and the form/presentation/image whicih relate to rationality - irrationality in music.

You can state either one of the types of music as Ego, Superego, Id, Superid first and then the functions. Sometimes you can have a profile of two, e.g. Superid - Ego. And sometimes you can say just what is definetly missing - one of the four TPEs.
I can guide you on the approach of typing music as it is already established in socionics. However, if you wish to relate the music to qudras, you have to explain on what basis you do it and that may be a challenge as quadras can not be described in terms of dichotomies. Quadras are more or less artefact and do not relate directly to the typology.

You have to describe very clear criteria of differentiating music by quadras. You can do it only if you associate quadras with temperaments and mood. In School of DarkAngelFireWolf69 quadras are associated with the role the person plays in a group and the system of DCNH wich relates somehow to temperaments.

I would not advise you to go that route. The study of music and colour preferences shows that is much more similarity in preferences in line with the four basic groups of types: Ego, Superego, Id, Superid. Qudras contain music of types who are not similar on extro-intro, ratinal-irrational and static- dynamic. Read my article about associative music typology, please. This is the way to go and explore music and not only music - art, arhitecture and many different phenomena related to the type of psychic energy. TPE is in us and all around us. Not quadras or DCNH. Although they can be associated with TPEs as well. However you do need a much wider concept which bonds directly personality with the universe.

Both are possible superid-Superego and Superego-Superid. Superid though is more likely here because the music is too relaxed and too illusive for TPE Superego. Superego is a predominantly calm music too but not too illusive or relaxed.

The calm music from Superego should sound like this:

Type of negative Love you to death ...not sure, the song is introverted, in the video and in the voice I see the presence od Superid and melancholy in the mood. There is no visible dyanamics in the song. Sigur glos would agree, intuitive and Superego is more likely than Superid.

Deftones Tempest - surely ILI and Superid. Angels and airvawes adventure close to Id agree. Presentation/form is rational so it could be static profile too.Airwaves - Id but could be also static profile too.

Everything after is a combination of Id and Superid - very irrational to me and more Ne sound like -intuitive to me. But I would not say that it could not be one of the favoourite SLE songs.
