"How dull it is to pause, to make an end, To rust unburnish’d, not to shine in use! As tho’ to breathe were life."

! I know an ESE and an EIE who both had this quote on their facebook.

An ESE talking about how she got the manager at a restaurant to change something for her:

ESE: "When you make a scene, things get done."
IEE: "Hmm, maybe. I think being a paying customer may have helped too."
ESE: *rolls eyes and tells IEE the cover of her laptop is dirty*

That doesn't sound like a conversation that I'd comfortably fit into.

    ESI's FB status:

I want to form my own political group: "the people who get offended by the general populaces inability to be intelligent" group. Our main focus is simple: Don't be dumb; at all. If you encounter stupid, you have rights to destroy it, with whatever means necessary. Anyone care to hop aboard my Truth train?

Ignoring things should actually make them disappear... and if I was in charge of the universe, that's the way it would be.

    Just kidding.

I saw Brilliand's thread title and immediately thought of something an SLI 9 said to me recently: "There's no point getting worked up. If I don't like something, I don't think about it. Simple as that."

Well, I'll add to these over time, but off the top of my head, my sister is a confirmed LSI, and she has a terrible habit of making abrupt comments to complete strangers who annoy her.

    For example.

When we're out shopping in a crowded mall, she will practically bulldoze her way through the crowd, telling people to "move it", lol. I'm usually the one apologising profusely in her wake.

I took her to see Avatar the other day. About 10 minutes into the movie, some fat guy and his 5 kids showed up late and were taking their time looking for their seats in the row in directly in front of us. My annoyed sister sharply told them to shut up and sit down, lolll.

    Gotta love her.

Reason #516 to use socionics: It gives you an edge in Apples to Apples
    The card was "sensual"
    The person was ESTj
    I chose "telling the truth"

    I got the card.

I think the runners-up were something like some gross old famous person (just because they aren't) and an actress.

    -------------------------------------------

(Slightly paraphrased because I don't remember the exact words)
ESTj: [to me] Some advice for when you're married: never do that.
    Me: Never do what?
ESTj: If you really want your guy to see red. "No, when you said that you really meant this." If he says something and she takes later and says it meant something else. Or when he's trying to explain himself and she says, "You don't really mean that because you said something else before," when he's just trying to approach it... *gestures with hands, pointing around an imaginary object*
    Me: ...In different ways?
    ESTj: Yeah.
Me: So, basically when the true meaning of what you're trying to say is ignored...?
ESTj: Yeah *nods* Just figured you could find it useful.
    Me: I see. Thanks.

    -----------------------------------------

ENFp to ISTj: Why do you hate me?

ISTjs don't talk about feelings, don't even have feelings and perhaps don't even listen to people.

    Most probable answer: get real!
    ILE "Searcher"
    Socionics: ENTp
    DCNH: Dominant --> perhaps Normalizing
    Enneagram: 7w6 "Enthusiast"
MBTI: ENTJ "Field Marshall" or ENTP "Inventor"
    Astrological sign: Aquarius

I don't know; I will find out from the ENFp sometime Saturday, probably, when she's promised to recount the conversation.

I'm actually not entirely certain if the ISTj is actually ISTj. He's kind of unstable to me, probably at least partially due to non-socionic-related things, so my "feels" for what he is don't always stay put. So far ISTj seems most probable, but I'm also considering some kind of messed up ESTj, perhaps ESFp, and perhaps ENTp. Yes, I realize that those possibilities put him in every quadra...

Anyway, I mostly put that quote down because it seemed ENFp-ish - focused on the relational, based on likely potential, and perhaps a bit more forward/direct than I'd be. Actually, I guess it could be ESFp-ish, too.

I asked my husband that once, about snow. He said, "We used to drive to the snow." ROFL. Drive to the snow. I wish you all could see what it looks like outside right now. Huge snowstorm. My his life has changed.

Either that or I tend to think I'm funny and am full of myself at times.

    Gotta love her.
lol! I have a cousin and a good friend who are both female LSIs and they are the exact same way. One time when we were in Washington D.C. on a family reunion, we were trying to take a picture in front of some monument or something, and we had finally gotten a clear shot (you know, there was a break in the traffic at that spot) when a lady walked in front of the shot, so my cousin screamed at her, "HEY! WOULD YOU PLEASE MOVE?!" Note that this woman was at least thirty years old and my cousin couldn't have been older than 15. And we did indeed get our picture. It was grand.

Oooh, good point, gotta use that to my advantage next time. Actually it could provide a decent amount of evidence for typing... hmmm...

The other day I was talking about how my school's faculty is "incestuous". This is a term referring to the practice of a school hiring its own graduates to be professors, which is jokingly considered intellectual "incest" because the school receives professors with the same intellectual "genes" (or memes, for that matter) as the professors currently on staff, because those professors taught the new professors (or taught their teachers).

Well, I figure using an extreme term for this such as "incest" is a fairly beta thing to do, casual reference to taboo topics, etc. Now, the people who I was talking to were (probably) SLI and LII. The SLI one kept repeating that he "didn't like my term" for it, probably because of the use of the term incest. I think it's fairly Fi-valuing and delta sort of thing to find the term distasteful. The LII also found the term distasteful, but was rather mollified when I explained that the word actually made more sense (for the reasons listed above) than the alternative they supplied ("nepotistic"). I thought that was a nifty bit of quadra differences (betas tending to be more extreme in language than other quadras) + Ti vs. Fi (the Ti-valuer was satisfied when he saw that I had a logical justification for the extreme language, rather than just using rather graphic terminology for its own sake; the Fi-valuer not so much).

Same ESI: Regularly emphasizes seeing the signs and reading the writing on the wall and the trends. Referenced the story Who Moved My Cheese? as an example with the point that it's important to be the mouse who knows the cheese supply is dwindling and is therefore not surprised when the cheese moves and is in fact already onto looking for new cheese supplies well before the cheese "moves," always staying ahead of the game.

My SLI friend, trying to find a new home for their dog [incidentally, if anyone here is in the Atlanta area and is interested, let me know and I'll give you his email address ]. The bolded part is my favorite:

"Would you or someone you know like to adopt a 3-year-old dachshund/beagle mix? Izzy's extremely friendly, healthy (spayed, shots, etc etc), and housebroken. She likes to sleep under the covers with us, play fetch, and go on walks, and she bit a bird's head off one time (it was awesome). [...]"
