    Gender: Male
    Type: ...
    Pressure: Firm
    Speed: Slow
    Location: Waist/Neck/Chest (what?)
    Length: Long
Sound: Silent (sometimes i say something in a softish way after a duration)
Motion: Still (sometimes I'm kind of close before I close)
Ease: Huggable/Hesitant (I can be hesitant if people aren't used to hugging, or are too quick, I often won't really hug people if they want just a short hug, because it's pointless)

I tried to remember the last time I hugged; and it came back to me - I hugged this girl kind of quickly, a couple of times, but I had just met her ..

Usually I don't really hug people that I don't know so well, and it's for longer ...

The most romantic thing evar is to hug somebody and whisper in their ear mmmm.

I was thinking of hug as in, hugging my sweetheart- or a really good friend. I don't really hug anybody else...why would I. That would be awkward.

This list seems interesting. What is the ultimate goal of this particular experiment?

Erm. I'm a very tactile person by nature but most of the people I'm close to aren't, so I find I have to restrict myself to when they absolutely need it, so my data's a bit skewed.

    Gender: Male.
    Type: Probably EII.
Pressure: Depends on the huggee's emotional state. Usually rather soft.
    Speed: Slow
Location: Again, depends. Usually around the shoulders or just below.
Length: Generally pretty short; again, varies based on the person's emotions.
Sound: AGAIN, it depends on the person. Some people react better to having comforting sounds, some just want you to be a warm wall of comfort for a little bit.
Motion: See above. Slight rocking motions tend to help a bit when people are crying, I've found.
Ease: Huggable, but gradually becoming more hesitant. You start to stop wanting to hug people if they don't want to hug you.

I simply do not hug too many people. If alone with someone I feel connected to and if the hug is not asked for or somehow obligatory, and if i'm in the mood...

    Gender:
    Female
    Type: INTp
Pressure: like getting hugged by a rock
Speed: sudden, cannot plan for these things. that means that i am allowed to hug suddenly, but would prefer not to be suddenly hugged
    Location: Waist/Chest.
Length: depends on pressure and speed
Sound: breathing and stomachs growling (see above chest and waist)
Motion: still/shifting/mobile (natural changes in pressure, and chest/abdomen moves with the breath; re: mobility, these hugs may turn into being picked up for a back crack, being thrown onto the bed, rocked, etc.)
Ease: a firm squeeze spread out over the chest is hard to resist. anything too gentle, expected, or including too much eye contact - no thanks. also hello/goodbye hugs, even with someone i am close enough to hug, are always awkward.
whenever the dog and i see each other we both stop where we are. we regard each other with a mixture of sadness and suspicion and then we feign indifference.

    Gender: Male
    Type:LIE
    Pressure: Gentle
    Speed: Sudden
    Location:Chest
    Length: Short
    Sound: Silent
    Motion: Still
    Ease: Hesitant/Huggable

I would guess its more of a Fe/Fi thing?
    Hope it helps.

    Gender: Male
    Type: ESFJ
Pressure: Gentle, unless it's a guy I haven't seen in a long time, then I guess it's usually firm.
    Speed: Slow
    Location: Waist/Chest
    Length: Short
    Sound: Verbal
Motion: Still Though, I do the pat on the back thing normally.
Ease: Huggable towards women, Hesitant more often than not though.

A person's gender makes a rather large difference in how I hug them though. Of course, any of these are likely to change depending on my relationship to the person being hugged.

and is anyone surprised that an ESE (cracka) would put "verbal" over "silent". My husband never stops talking, really. Unless I tell him point blank "I need to go to sleep now" as I did last night. He was just chatting away in bed.

Speed: Do you suddenly have your arms around them, or is it more gradual? It's not that black and white! (c: Probably more gradual than sudden.
Location: Approximately where do you usually hug the recipiant? Neck and chest.
Length: Do they last more than a few seconds? It varies. With most people, probably not.
Sound: Do you talk during hugs? usually not, unless it feels awkward not to
Motion: Do you move your arms during a hug (shifting)? yeah, somewhat
Do you end up in a different location after a hug (mobile)? no, unless one of us trips

    Gender: Male
    Type: Ne-ENTp 7w6 so/sx
    Pressure: Firm
    Speed: Slow
Location: Waist when hugging women, chest when hugging other men
    Length: Short
    Sound: Varies
    Motion: Shifting
Ease: Reluctant, except with significant other, in which case, highly huggable.

I used to be severely afraid of touching other people, so hugging is something that I have only recently re-discovered. I still don't like to hug that much because touching other people feels a little too intimate to me. :/

I imagine most regular posters here can identify with this. There's a reason we spend our time here instead of "irl".
