    Default Arrogance

It occured to me that I should compile a list of type-specific arrogance. (Many thanks to FDG, and Sycophant for the contributions).

My current obsession is with the 7th function and I wonder if the arrogance is related to that...

Anyway - here they are. Correct me if I've made an error. This is just the way types seem to come off to INxps and ENTjs, lol.

(ENTjs, btw, are wonderful in this kind of exercise because their nitpicky can find the perfect word)

    Arrogance in the 16 Types

    Alpha

ENTp says "I am more interesting than you"
ISFp says “I am more aesthetic than you”
ESFj says “I am more caring than you”
INTj says “I am more intelligent than you”

    Beta

ENFj says “I am more concerned than you”
ISTj says “I am more capable than you”
ESTp says “I am stronger than you”/“I am better than you”
INFp says “I am more unique than you”

    Gamma

ENTj says “I am more right than you”
ISFj says “I am more proper than you”
ESFp says “I am more stylish than you”
INTp says “I am more educated than you”

    Delta

ENFp says "I am less arrogant than you"
ISTp says “I am more pragmatic than you”
ESTj says “I am more competent than you”
INFj says “I am more ethical than you”

I like it. Though "interesting" may be a better word than "special", but maybe that's just me.

Interested ishy, makes a lot of sense especially the stylish part about the ESFPs. I do see myself as happier than others. Also, when compared to judgers I see myself as more productive when a task is not assigned.

A lot of what you said seems more like than , I might be wrong though.

ENTp: I'm mo betta than you.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

I would have thought that any type-related arrogance would be derived from the functions comprising the ego "ego-block." Why would the 7th function produce arrogance? As I understand it, one has strengths that relate to this function but usually doesn't accept those strengths a being an intregal part of their personality.

    Arrogance from 7th function:

We want our 7th functions to be strong, but we perceive them as weak. However, chances are, each and every one of us has been complimented at one point or another on something related to our 7th functions. Therefore, we see ourselves as having delusions concerning this function, and seek more praise of it from others.

    Maybe?
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

INFp says “I am more unique than you”

Hmm...I have that about it and I guess that the foundation of my personal pride/arrogance has more to do with authenticity than uniqueness. The two often go hand-in-hand but not always.

I don't think arrogance would stem from the ego-block because arrogance is delusional. Things related to the function in the ego-block don't tend to be delusional unless you're mentally ill or just like to seek that kind of stimulation (...*looks everywhere else but herself*...)

Arrogance seems counterphobic to me, kind of like shoving your PoLR or estimative function in peoples' faces. i.e. the INFp saying/thinking "I am more unique..." (according to my list, anyway) doesn't mean they are more unique or believe they are more unique but it could instead reflect them being insecure about being "normal".

Also, the 7th function seems to be one that picks on other peoples' weakness while disregarding one's own weakness. I might be seeing connections that aren't there, but I can see influence of the 7th function in some of the list.

you guys didn't have to name a thread after me

Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.

What about this for ENFPs: "I am more optimistic than you"? Somehow I'm not sure about 'happy', but perhaps that's just me. I like the list.

Perhaps we're the "I'm more humble than you" type. Anndelise, what are we arrogant about? Can you think of anything? I can't. Lack of insight, probably.

When I read the "I'm less arrogant than you are" statement, I laughed out loud. Family thought I suddenly went nuts. This statement definitely strikes a chord not only in my observations of my own behavior, but in other ENFPs I've hung out with. And I can definitely see how other types might take offense when an ENFP suggests that the other is maybe being too arrogant.

Yes, I believe this is the one.

By pragmatic I mean something like this:

Of course we're the least arrogant type. We've got so much we could brag about, but do we ever do that? No. See?
