ATM I'm a non-drinker due to nursing. Before I got pregnant I was a pretty heavy drinker though. It's just something I enjoyed, socially or not. I'll drink again when my baby gets older, but not as heavily. I voted occasional drinker because both extremes kind of balanced out in my mind.

I assumed that more than once a month on average means regular and voted for that.
There was no option for binge drinker. I guess I'll make it social drinker then. I don't drink often, but when I do I make it count.

I'm a regular drinker. Actually I only drink socially and on the very occasional free nights at home - that amounts to 7 days a week.My pick is gin&tonic or sweet cider depending on mood. I do drink pretty often, but I haven't been significantly drunk for a while now. Usually I slowly sip 2 drinks within about 7 hours so barely feel the alcohol at all. I like the taste of alcohol and I like how it relaxes the muscles but I really dislike feeling disoriented, so I am careful with the amount I drink.

I always get paranoid I'm going to get liver disease and die so I've made it a conscious decision not to go over a certain amount per week. It takes the fun out of it. I couldn't be irresponsible if i tried. Saturday rolls around and something comes up, nope! I can't drink, already had 'X' amount!

Yeah, regular to me means eating out, drinking a couple of beers, seeing some friends, having a few drinks, and then a night of drinking. Or something along those lines.
I don't really dig alcohol and alcohol related activities in theory.
I do really enjoy the taste of wine, and wine is really good for you, so I drink a glass from time to time with certain friends.
I used to drink a glass every other night, but I quit that job...

When i first discovered alcohol, it was bad...I had a lot of negative influences who drank very heavily on a daily basis and it almost made it seem like that was the normal, okay thing to do. I've seen a friend get completely consumed by it and i've unfortunately had to cut them out of my life. It's not easy being in that environment, you can get caught up in it. Of course whenever i'd pass on drinking, I was always labeled the "square". Even now, just about all the people i hang around with drink quite heavily...too much for my liking. I dont know how one can function drinking more than 2 or 3 nights a week but i guess it's just all in your tolerance level.

In Wisconsin people drink a lot more than in most areas of the country. Here drinking a few times a month is less than average. There are a lot of people who have at least 6 drinks every day. Of course, there are also a lot who don't drink at all.
Overall though, people in Wisconsin drink more both in frequency and quantity than people in most other places in the US. Someone my size drinking over a dozen drinks in a night out at a bar is not at all unusual.
Lately I've been having a couple of beer a day.

I mean, I'd probably drink 10 to 15 beers a week. Where's before, it used to be probably two to three times that, in equivilents.

Same, plus one (at monthly association meetings). I'm planning on not drinking beer much anymore though. At least for a while. I'll generally stick to whiskey or wine.

Here I was thinking i was all innocent with my 12 drinks a week. You're all making me look like some sort of alcoholic.
OK I voted social- which isn't exactly true. Basically I don't drink at all unless I intend on getting completely wasted. This usually happens if I am with my crazy party friends, but occasionally can happen when I am alone.
So I drink irregularly either socially or alone- and only to get totally smashed....
