    Default Helen Fisher's Personality Types

Helen Fisher, an anthropologist, has arrived at her own personality types, and she also says that different types can be complementary in relationships.

The four types are: Explorer, Builder, Negotiator, Director.

You can find a test of her types in Oprah's site:

About what I thought. I somewhat hoped Explorer would be on top, but somehow I knew that it would be Negotiator>Explorer, heh.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

After reading the descriptions, I conclude that I am definitely a Negotiator.

Default Helen Fisher and her simple typology

    http://www.ted.com/index.php/talks/h...n_in_love.html

Here is a talk about the brain in love. Helen Fisher MRI'd people in love and here is her speaking about it. What is interesting is that she concludes with a four element typology for predicting relationship compatibility.

that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

Apart from the irritating dramatic style of her lecture, a lot of what she says is just unproven theory and speculation and biased: she discovered a couple of facts, and then fills in all the blanks based upon her a priori view of reality.

What she is talking about, 'romantic, passionate love', can also be described as 'infantile narcissistic attachment', with the same validity. But in a world where narcissism, in its more neurotic manifestations, is the norm, it must be hard to conceive that this type of love ('romantic, passionate love'), is, in fact, not a universal truth. It is a very western view of love, a form a love considered by some non-western cultures as immature, e.g. Buddhism.

To the recycle bin with it!
