there should be plenty...the first one that comes to mind is 30 seconds to mars...virtually all of their songs I've heard carry some 4'ish/NF theme
chili peppers may also be beta, atleast in the majority

I think yellowcard is also beta

Cocteau Twins, Front 242, Asian Dub Foundation, UNKLE, Portishead, Death From Above 1979, Brazilian Girls and Anima Sound System are all Beta bands.
Too bad I only know Beta hip-hop artists.
IEI, perhaps Fe sub.
Stars (beta NF)
I'd be interested to see who you thought was beta. I believe tupac was an Fe-INFp.Originally Posted by HKitty

ok, I've spent the majority of my time at work this morning analyzing music. Oddly enough, beta seems to be the most common quadra, but that could possibly be because I am just finding what I identify with in it. Either way, I thought I'd post an observation.
Yellowcard - gifts and curses (live version): This is one of the best songs (being live made it so) I've ever heard from them. It begins with an elegant violin and leads into a quietly passionate first verse. The songs essentially conveys the idea of fighting for love, which is extremely noble. The tone is kept at a fairly low-key level, which only adds to the suspense. You can actually identify with the singer, to some degree. There is a back-and-forth singing before the chorus, which is very clever imo. This song could almost be turned into a play. Then, towards the middle there is a chilling piano solo which captivates the audience (and the listener, obviously). Then the violin joins in (a background one and the main one), creating the greatest build-up of the song and generating huge responses from the crowd (jesus, this is so beta lol). The lead up makes one feel like they are walking towards the noblest battle of their life. Then, it goes back into the chorus as smoothly as a lake in the morning, and phases out peacefully, with the crowd roaring. I believe this song is a masterpiece, in its proper context (even though I haven't heard the album version).
ugh, well I'm done...I'm pretty certain they're beta though

U2 (the whole beta quadra, right?)
Nirvana?
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.

I find it difficult to type music, but some of these might also be beta:
Biosphere
Booka Shade
Burial
Coldplay
Delays
Groove Armada
Lamb
Laurent Garnier
Massive Attack
Moby
Novastar
Ozark Henry
Placebo
Röyksopp
Sigur Rós
Silicone Soul
Swayzak
Technasia
Trentemøller
Underworld
Don't know about Sigur Ros, they seem pretty Si (Delta>Alpha?) to me. I guess the "etherealness" of their music might be attributed to Ni. I agree with you that music is difficult to "type"
Placebo (at least their singer) seems about right for Beta
so, you're pretty familiar with hip-hop? I always thought ludacris was gamma, not sure about the rest.Originally Posted by HKitty

well, when I saw him on this show, he was talking about how he is a perfectionist in a very controlled, calm way. He basically doesn't seem to exude the Fe charisma I would expect from a beta, so I thought he was either ENTj or ESFp.Originally Posted by HKitty

So many Beta bands.
Beta people gravitate towards Beta inspired music - this is likely true for all quadras. There is just something inherent within the music itself that defines the quadra if the makers of the music are Beta quadra members themselves.
For example, I've noticed a huge trend of IEIs being highly pretentious about their music, which is usually created by other IEIs. You know, the whole "indie" community and whatnot - I used to be a part of this before I grew out of immaturity But yeah, some of these bands include:
The Arcade Fire < -- I see this band as more EIE than IEI
Modest Mouse
Sigur Ros (definitely IEI, despite the fact that their music sounds "relaxing" which may be associated with - however, the themes of their music is most definitely )
Bright Eyes (lolz)
Beirut
Animal Collective < - freakin' awesome
Final Fantasy
RADIOHEAD < -- IEI-Ni galore
Wolf Parade
Yo La Tengo
Taking Back Sunday (lolz)
A.F.I. (lolz)
My Chemical Romance (lolz)
...
Some Beta bands that exude more OOMPH and
Prodigy
Pendulum
Crystal Castles
Sex Pistols
Ramones
Blondie
Yeah
The main thing that correlates all Beta bands is that their music has a sense of urgency, I've noticed. Even the slow music, like Sigur Ros, it builds up to extreme climaxes and such. Very, very "intense". Also has a ton of themes about revolution, sticking it to the man, banding together as one, and just generally very ethereal weird stuff.
The reason I think he's an Eight is because I read it on Tom Condon's The Changeworks website.
Good point; never thought of that. The lyrics are certainly Beta orientated. However, I'm not sure the band is Beta.
I agree with these two. Lots of Fe.Nirvana?
That's what led me to think Ulrich Schnauss a Ni type.
Probably, yes.
I agree (even about being more EIE than IEI)
Can you point out the songs with IEI themes? I remember in my original type thread here, I said I liked Sigur Ros and some people suggested they were Delta.Sigur Ros (definitely IEI, despite the fact that their music sounds "relaxing" which may be associated with - however, the themes of their music is most definitely )
why Ni/Se? feels more Alpha to me.Beirut

this 30 seconds to mars song is the darkest and rawest song I have heard in a while. probably won't have much appeal for most of you, but I think it does a good job at illustrating the "dark" side of beta.

i thought he was typed ISFp. not sure.
i am confused wiht the thread. are you typing the singers or the music?
i disagree with many of the bands, agree with many.
the ones i pretty much agree with are U2, and rage against the machine. I think there is more Fe in U2 and more Ni/Se in Rage.
also starfall and ezra, you should type Blonde Redhead in the thread i made "type this couple again" or something similar.
dude i was like this 30 seconds sounds like bjork and lol it was. he just went up 20 points in my book
muse.. also more Fe to me
TV On the Radio?
amazing song
