Thread: Heredity of Functions?

    Default Heredity of Functions?

I have myself a problem! (and a case study )

    We have a family:

    Father - ISFj
    Mother - ESFp
    Daughter - INFj
    Son - ESTp

The son is the image of his father, and the daughter of her mother (but less remarkably so than the men).

What say you about the heredity of the functions? and seem to run in the family, how do we account for and in the offspring?

Well, heredity itself isn't as simple as that - recessive traits such as blond or red hair, or blue eyes, etc, often remain "invisible" for generations. Or even height.

So even if socionics characteristics are hereditary, it does not follow that you'd necessarily have similar functions as your parents and siblings.

In my own case, I'm the only non-alpha in my immediate family (which might help to explain why I thought I was INTj):

    Father- ISFp
    Mother- ESFj
    Brother - ENTp
    Me - ENTj

Interestingly, I'm also the only one with blue eyes, blondish hair, and type 0 blood - for them, it's brown eyes, dark hair, and type A.

That illustrates the not-so-simple ways of heredity - which may or may not apply to socionics (personally I doubt that it does).

Even if it doesn't apply to Socionics, it's still an interesting concept.

well in my own observations i've noticed only that dual families are producing children which inherit one of the parent's type. I talked with two socionist some time ago and they said that their studies are showing that children indeed inherit one of the parent's type when in dual families. the other options are comparative or semi-dual. dunno if there is a formula for the non-dual families. their children seem to have random types

I don't see what's so important about the possibility of extraterrestrial life. It's just more people to declare war on.

It sounds like you mean it's a 100% chance the kid will be the type of one of the parents. Is that what you're saying? I find that a bit of a strech...

well maybe we should make like 150-200-300 children and then we can talk again on the subject you know?

How about hereditary of personality skipping a generation?

ie, inheriting from grandparents rather parents.

To be honest, I am INTj through nurture since babayhood/childhood.

There is no proof for genetic inheritence of personality.

Yup! Not only is it pointless to argue (where would you go with it and why...?) but there is so little conclusive evidence for any direction available.

I think a few are not. I forget which (okay, I admit it, I sold my psych books!) but they were childhood abuse related.

    Diana you're absolutely wonderful!

I will come back and post more in here when I'm less rushed.
