that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.
I wouldn't build a massive case for it at present, but I think ISTp isn't that bad typing for the lass.
ISTP? Really? I always got the E*FP vibe.
russians seem to want to v.i. her as SEI at least. i agree that she's probably some fp type.

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. It is a way, though, to give oneself an artificial sense of self-justification. LSE

We are all over the board with this typing...can anyone find any direct interviews that we can analyze?

Here she is with a younger David Letterman (supposedly SLI). Actually they do get along REALLLY
well, I have to admit.

very revealing of her IEE-ness to those of you who are still not convinced...

Never looked into it but I get the impression from interviews that she's Alpha Fe, possibly SEI. IEE is possible but I think the degree to which she attempts to make the atmosphere continuously boisterous and non-serious points more to Fe+Si valuing IMO

I noticed some anger or annoyance when he teased her about walking barefoot. It's like she wanted the barefoot walking to be taken seriously instead of joked about, and she wasn't being herself when she felt forced to laugh and joke about it in response. She also seemed annoyed (not flattered) when he talked about a 'hot babe' visiting the buddhist monks. She seemed to feel that he wasn't taking this seriously enough and was joking too much about it. She said 'you're making me feel better about myself,' but her facial expression, body language, and tone of voice said 'leave me alone.'
She seemed to feel slightly disrespected, as though she had had a profound experience in India, but other people were laughing and not understanding how serious and deep this was to her.
So I did feel a sense of Fi, although I didn't actually analyze anything thoroughly, but I had a very difficult time seeing the Ne. I also didn't feel attracted to her and felt like we wouldn't have much to talk about in real life. So I might actually go with the gamma SF theory. However, I can't really pinpoint incidents of Se, either, but I also can't see Ne. I just see Fi - I think. The fact that I feel sort of disinterested in her suggests to me that Ne isn't there.
Not sure.
I always prefer to have a written transcript so that I can see the words more easily and refer back to them. I'm not going to do a transcript though.
..... Wait, I'm watching the other interview now, the one where she has on a black dress. I'm getting a slightly different impression there. Now I'm seeing what I call Fe. 'It was so awesome.' Doh. I need to go watch a video of someone who I know for sure is Fi. I think I'm seeing Fe, now I'm totally uncertain.
'which was beautiful... the things you discover are so magical.' Fe. An external situation has an objective emotional label attached to it. Beautiful, magical. ... Wait. Those aren't ever-changing feelings, they are static feelings. Fi.
Maybe the interviewers just don't know how to bring out someone's Ne. Maybe it's just difficult to get Ne to come out in an ordinary conversation. The only Ne-ish thing she said was something about something having a lot of possibilities.
I should stop editing this and just make a whole new post. Or give up and do something else altogether.

oooooooook....
Exactly, and the fact that she's saying "that's magical. That's beautiful" i.e. describing how she feels instead of being like "WOOOOW!!" suggests Fi-valuing > Fe-valuing to me.
I actually thought she showed a lot of Ne in all her interviews, in the sense that not only did she describe what/who she liked/didn't like (Fi) but she was cognizant of people's talents, strengths, potentials. For example, in the Donnie Darko interview, she praised Jake Gyllenhall for being just incredibly suited to that role. She'd also assessed and appreciated the strengths, depth, and meaning of the character she was playing. In that particular statement, incidentally, she also poked fun at her own Fe ("i'm always with the clown face") which is consistent with Fe demonstrative.Originally Posted by Nicole
Her demeanor is Ne/Si > Se/Ni as well. E.g. "you just slip into the culture... and let yourself go...." Experiencing nature, the way she described it, seemed Ne/Si to me. I think the barefoot walking thing was also Ne-ish, the way she responded. I think you read a little too much into that, Nicole, tbh.

Also, look at the way she's sitting in the david letterman clip... small, curled up into a ball almost, like she wants a hug. Infantile, not aggressor. (compare with Craig Ferguson, who seems like he's trying to take up the whole stage/screen with himself and his movements).
She also took an infantile sort of approach when describing her relationship with her new puppy.

Now lemme check if I have quotation marks to fix to avoid SLI aneurysms.

i always thought she was IEE too.
I've always really liked the sound of her voice. It's so soothing or something.
