Default Functions while playing poker ...

Some of these I am not too sure on ... I am trying to list what functions would do best in certain circumstances of playing poker, like when to bluff and fold.= or what strategy to use if any.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------

Ne - ability to manufacture multiple card strategies, reacting to the strategies of others and grouping diffrent strategies in your mind for consideration.

Ni - ability to tell how well a strategy will play out in the long run, may also include card counting or other patterns.

Fe - ability to tell when to bluff, emotional reactivity

Fi - ability to tell when someone else is bluffing, true to feeling ...

Ti - analysis and quality of thought, division of primary from secondary, may be used with Ne to help pick the best strategy.

    Te- ???

Se - knowning when to agressively persue a pot and when not to?

    Si - ???

This must be why I've always loved card games... and I've always been good at them too. I'm also good at word games though.

I posted this in another thread a while ago.... couldn't resist putting it in here, too... This is a description of the game Asshole...

The rules are fairly simple, but because it's a drinking game, people learn it while drunk/getting drunk and the next time they play it they don't quite remember it all exactly as they were taught... so the rules tend to vary a little based on the group you play with.

These are the rules as I play the game:

The object of the game is to get rid of all of your cards. The entire deck (or decks, depending on the number of players) is dealt by the asshole. While the asshole is dealing, he is in charge. All players must to whatever he says, whether it's going to fetch him another drink or finishing what's left in their drink (making people take a sip of their drink is most common). He may deal the cards however he wishes (face up, more cards to one player than any other, in any order, etc). No one may touch their cards until the last card is dealt and the President (the winner of the last hand) picks up his cards.

Once the President picks up his cards, the game continues. The President is in charge and all players must do as he says. The next in charge is the Vice President, and he is in charge of all people except the President. Then it's the Secretary, then Treasurer, etc. The Asshole is everyone's bitch.

The President lays the first card. The following player has to try to match or top it. Two of the same card beats a single card of a higher face value, so a pair of 4s beats a King, three 4s beats a pair of Kings, etc. If you match what was thrown by the previous player, he has to drink and the next player after you is skipped and has to drink. If you cannot match or beat what has been thrown by the previous player, you can clear it with a 2 and start fresh.

    -2 clears
    -3 is wild
-Jack beats all (one Jack beats 3 Kings)
-If four of the same card is laid (whether by the same person or by a series of players) the cards are cleared and the person who laid the fourth card gets to go again and a Sociable is called, meaning everyone drinks
-The President may call a Sociable at anytime, so everyone drinks (but the cards are not cleared)
-The Asshole may call a Sociable when he's dealing
-3 Jacks counts as a Sociable and he cards get cleared
-The first person to run out of cards is the President for the next hand
-The hand is continued until every except one player is out of cards, and then that person is the next round's asshole and has to deal
-If someone is Presidnet 3 hands in a row, he gets to make up a rule (anyone who swears has to drink, every 5 that's played means there's a Sociable, etc)

The 4 players (3 or more players is fine), are dealt there hands by the Asshole, making sure not to touch their cards yet. The Asshole finishes dealing (probably telling people to drink as he deals) and then once he has finished, the President (who was the first one out the last hand) picks up his cards. Then the rest of the people then pick up their hands and organize them. He probably tells a few people to take a drink, depending on what happened in the last hand. President lays the first card and the turns go clockwise around the table.

President: says "Everyone drink!" and lays a 4
Secretary: lays a 4- President and Asshole drink and Asshole’s turn is skipped
    Asshole: *drinks*
    Vice President: lays a 6
President: lays a 6 *Vice and Sec drink*
    Secretary: *gets skipped* "Asshole, drink!"
    Asshole: lays a 7
Vice President: lays a 7 *Asshole and Pres drink*
President: *skipped* says “Vice, drink for skipping me” *Vice drinks*
    Secretary: lays a 9
Asshole: lays a 9 *Sec and Vice drink* Sec says, “Asshole, drink for making me drink”
Vice President: *skipped* says “Yeah, and drink again for skipping me!”
President: “Soc!” lays two 9s *Asshole clears pile and everyone toasts and drinks* lays a 6
Secretary: lays a 10 "Asshole, drink"
    Asshole: lays a Queen
Vice President: “Soc!” lays two Queens and a 3 (wild) *Asshole clears pile, everyone toasts and drinks* lays an 8 "Secretary and Asshole, drink!"
    President: lays a Queen
    Secretary: lays a King
    Asshole: lays an 8 and a 3
Vice President: (has to beat a pair of 8s) lays two Kings
President: lays a King and a 3 “Soc!” *Asshole clears and everyone toasts and drinks* lays a Jack (which is high)
Secretary: lays a Jack *Pres and Asshole drink*
    Asshole: *skipped*
Vice President: lays a 2 *Asshole clears pile* lays a 10
    President: lays a Jack
Secretary: lays a 2 *Asshole clears pile* lays two 6s and a 3
Asshole: lays four 5s, calls a Soc, clears, lays an Ace
Vice President: lays an Ace *Asshole and Pres drink*
President: *skipped* “Vice, drink for skipping me”
Secretary: lays an Ace *Pres and Asshole drink*
    Asshole: *skipped*
Vice President: lays two fours, is out of cards and says, “Pres!”, announcing that he will be pres in the next hand
    President: lays two 7s
Secretary: lays a 2 *Asshole clears too slowly because he wasn't paying attention, is told to drink,* lays two 8s, is out of cards, says “Vice!”
    Asshole: lays a Jack
President: lays a 2 *Asshole clears* lays an Ace, is out of cards, says “Secretary”
Asshole: “looks like I’m Asshole again” throws down last two cards, a pair of 10s and begins to shuffle the cards for the next hand… "Everyone, finish your drinks! And Pres (to the new Pres), once you finish, go mix me another drink. Vice, give me one of your cigarettes..."

I always thought of stu unger as ExTp, but I could see him being SLI.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...

Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
    Whilst our laughter echoed,
    Under cerulean skies...

What kind of power are wea talking about? When I play with my buddies, I play to make sure everyone has a good time and everyone leaves feeling like they had a blast. But we have little incentive on actually caring about th emoney we use so... some of the things I do would be "unethical" at a formal casino setting like being boisterous and distracting.

Jadae, that was a very good post. It shows the difference in what various types find important. You don't seem to care who wins as much as you do about the atmosphere and everyone's comfort and enjoyment. To you, that is your skill in the game. Quite valid, and a perspective which I had not considered.

Honestly... ENFjs creep me out a little... it's interesting... (not you specifically Jadae) I mean, I don't dislike them, I guess I just don't feel like I can really relate to them that well?

good god my typos were horrid =p

Well, I dont know about other ENFjs, but I'd take the time to get to know you irl to know how to relate. The only ENTp that is "close" to me is my online gaming buddy. I wish I knew more that were closer irl. He is so close (for online, that is), in fact, that he'd leave me spam on my ICQ on a daily basis. I'd have spam to read today but he too a 2 month Spain vacation! I even had to admit to myself that I missed his random essays on god-know's-what-topic-of-the-day.

The result is that sometimes I can be overly impersonal or self-centered in my approach, not being understanding of others in the process and simply thinking "you should do this" or "everyone should follor this rule"..."regardless of how they feel or where they're coming from"which just isn't a good attitude to have. I'd play, its easier on me than black jack, where I'd need to calculate the odds of every position and then write a guide on what to do to maximize your odds. I was doing this, but I stopped very soon.

Poker's more fun, cause you can mislead people with strategy. I was playing against the AI, and I doubled my money several times.

But yeah, with blackjack, I can't do it. Tried, lost, spun the wheel, got money, lost again, spent the freemium bucks, and lost again. I was even using a pretty good probability strat. Will say, it's likely the AI was cheating, but I tried counting, and that didn't even work. Good luck to my friend who thought he can beat the hand. I'll stick to poker. Against the AI. Cause I suck. Has straight, folds because doesn't know what a straight looks like.

I can also tell what people have by how much they bid in the early game. I can probably get good in a real regular setting, but meh.

Pretend You're Xzzizy is my real jam.

An optimist - does not get discouraged under any circumstances. Life upheavals and stressful events only toughen him and make more confident. He likes to laugh and entertain people. Enters contact with someone by involving him with a humorous remark. His humor is often sly and contain hints and double meanings. Easily enters into arguments and bets, especially if he is challenged. When arguing his points is often ironic, ridicules the views of his opponent. His irritability and hot temper may be unpleasant to others. However, he himself is not perceptive of this and believes that he is simply exchanging opinions.

I tend to be more extroverted after consuming alcohol, but more introverted when naked, if that helps.

Se is more closely related to catching on to as many nonverbal cues as possible, especially if fairly strong and then reading into them with help from Ni. So that fits better than Fi for reading people/calling bluffs, in the context of poker anyway.

To be successful in poker, it is always necessary to have a good rest and focus before the game. Attention and quick reaction are important for the ability to make the right decisions. So if you've had a bad night or you're not feeling well, it's better if you skip one session. I always play with a sober head, so I manage to win. I usually play at the best richpalms casino in Australia. There are a lot of different games out there that are really fun to play.
