Aren't you even aware of the general idea why most 'commoners' such as myself like this crap? It's not because you understand the language better, it's because it just appeals to how most people think. Ie basically liking the bad guy with a soul or the nice guy with some balls as opposed to too much of one or the other. I still like socionics, but eh I just know the general gist of why people like it. It does appeal to the human psyche or whatever. I think arguing the technicalities is just pointless and stupid since it's a theory to begin with. Really socionics is just like religion although I know people are gonna hate that comparison. BulletsAndDoves I think you need to talk about socionics more with other betas, it's fun. Also there's use in socionics in predicting things, for example, it predicts that Beta NFs like me and you would find it difficult to digest and find solutions in Te-saturated explanations, but Te-types see Fe-saturated explanations the same way.

Your analogy with religion is actually quite thought provoking. For example, I was reading a buddhist book during one of my half-assed failed spiritual revolutions and was intrigued in learning that happiness is found in obtaining inner peace and freedom from the self. In a way it's similar to the apparent long term effects of duality in socionics - particularly the inner peace part. Ok I know it's random shit but what I'm getting at is that while Socionics may seem to be just a "theory" it shouldn't be isolated. Indeed maybe socionics is just one small part of a huge theory made up of thousands of smaller theories that when pieced together will bring us one step closer to the meaning of life (or not). At the moment it seems religion is out of fashion in the western world so comparing anything to it can seem controversial but ... is it really? Maybe the spiritual aspect... but the institution just seems to have transformed - consider the similarities between a priest and a psychiatrist - with one you confess your sins in order to obtain forgiveness and cleanse your conscience through pennance (sp?) - isn't the other frighteningly similar? lol
