"His identification with being a "martyr" for the media fits pretty well with the social role for the INFj"
IMO Sounds more like the Victim style of Ni, than the habitual knack of self sacrifice that manifests in EII.

Projection is ordinary. Person A projects at person B, hoping tovalidate something about person A by the response of person B. However, person B, not wanting to be an obejct of someone elses ego and guarding against existential terror constructs a personality which protects his ego and maintain a certain sense of a robust and real self that is different and separate from person A. Sadly, this robust and real self, cut off by defenses of character from the rest of the world, is quite vulnerable and fragile given that it is imaginary and propped up through external feed back. Person B is dimly aware of this and defends against it all the more, even desperately projecting his anxieties back onto person A, with the hope of shoring up his ego with salubrious validation. All of this happens without A or B acknowledging it, of course. Because to face up to it consciously is shocking, in that this is all anybody is doing or can do and it seems absurd when you realize how pathetic it is.
Yes way, yes absolutely 5 over 4. Head triad over image triad. This shined through big time in the lyrics, which as far as I can tell, were mainly deliberately contradictory fragments of cliches he overheard from people in avant-garde, hippie, countercultural circles. The most brutal and anguished sounding scream that came out of him in the context of a Nirvana song was in a song about a novel. 5 detachment/analysis over the 4 inner-world stuff.
As for stackings, I'm more inclined to see him as part of a contra-flow stacking ring than any of the forward flow stackings; the wall of fetuses, bones, organs, and flowers on the back of In Utero strikes me as a sp/sx thing, same with this general murky and muddy aesthetic around the band. Sx first feels right to me, and he sure didn't do too great at the whole self-preservation thing, so I went sx/so.

^^^^ There´s no way he seeks knowledge and objectivity in his music . Let alone in his life -- typical Ennea 4 drug-addict run by feelings. Heart triad all the way. If you think you find some traces of "intellectualism" in his lyrics, then a 5 wing might explain them. I personally don´t.

IEI-5w4 correlation is a reality due to examples like Cobain
I thought Kurt Cobain was THE archetype for IEI am I right?
I know she is banned and was a mean cow, but man did she ever hit the nail on the head a lot of times. This being one of them. Curt was at the right place at the right time with the right sound. He was messed up with drugs and this exacerbated his troubled feelings. I actually think he was so washed out by the time he was famous that very little of an actual sociotype remained. If he is like the flagship IEI in western socionic circles, then I feel bad for IEIs entirely.
Introverted, Irrational, Ethical, but he's Alpha. SEI
i'm quite certain he's SLE
IEI
The decisive thing is not the reality of the object, but the reality of the subjective factor, i.e. the primordial images, which in their totality represent a psychic mirror-world. It is a mirror, however, with the peculiar capacity of representing the present contents of consciousness not in their known and customary form but in a certain sense sub specie aeternitatis, somewhat as a million-year old consciousness might see them.
