Default Types of Songs & Lyrics

    Analyze this:

    First We Take Manhattan
They sentenced me to twenty years of boredom
For trying to change the system from within
I'm coming now, I'm coming to reward them
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin
I'm guided by a signal in the heavens
I'm guided by this birthmark on my skin
I'm guided by the beauty of our weapons
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

I'd really like to live beside you, baby
I love your body and your spirit and your clothes
But you see that line there moving through the station?
I told you, I told you, told you, I was one of those

Ah you loved me as a loser, but now you're worried that I just might win
You know the way to stop me, but you don't have the discipline
How many nights I prayed for this, to let my work begin
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

I don't like your fashion business mister
And I don't like these drugs that keep you thin
I don't like what happened to my sister
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

I'd really like to live beside you, baby ...

And I thank you for those items that you sent me
The monkey and the plywood violin
I practiced every night, now I'm ready
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

    I am guided

Ah remember me, I used to live for music
Remember me, I brought your groceries in
    Well it's Father's Day and everybody's wounded
First we take Manhattan, then we take Berlin

    Default Type These Musics

I am using Youtube, but I think most music videos ruin the song, so be careful not to let them influence you too much:

Excerpt from the Paula Cole video:
"Here's a woman from Rockport, Massachusetts with her first music video, and she says the one thing she wanted to get across in the video is that she isn't a model and she isn't an actress. First and foremost, she's a singer."

    Wow, really?

"Hi, I'm Elro. This is my first post on this thread, and the one thing I'm trying to convey with this post is that I'm not an African Bush Elephant, nor am I a recently-opened package of Oreos. First and foremost, I am a forum poster."

That seems very intuitive, yes. Ni/Ne.

seems "forever". If it was it would be "I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". Instead, the whole song is almost a whisper: "Out of the stillness, soft spoken words"

Aww. That's such a sweet song.

My favorite right now is Paris' Stars Are Blind.

I'm such a sap for love songs. *sigh*

And I think it's using both functions pretty equally. ( and ) They don't always have to oppose.

I think she's genuinely (and refreshingly) sexy and attractive. Unlike those whored out models that are just cartoony. She really has a positive sexuality. (If I were straight) I'd hit that. Plus I think the way she holds those boots is just hot...

I would have to agree on INFp for now though.

Of course that song is pretty old isn't? Now she's probably all moody and menopause-y. What a wonderful performer, though.

And UDP? No offense or anything but you still seem like a typical male INTj that wants from women, not .

I'd disagree... Garbage (Shirley Manson) seems rather INFj-N subtype. Lyrics tend to be Fi-oriented in a "I feel like this and you can't change it" sort of way. The Cardigans, in contrast, are an example of a female INFp vocalist. You'll notice there's more ups and downs in the lyrics (her mood being effected both positively and negatively by the environment around her -Fe). Garbage lyrics are more blunt, to the point and constant whereas The Cardigans are comparably vague, variable and covered in sweet sounding analogies (it's the Serious vs. Merry dichotomy I think, an easy way to differentiate between INFj and INFp)

you must be kiddin! infps once in love are very fixed about it and their always positive 8th Fi is aimed at always persuading the always doubting estp of their love!!
Yes, I'm not arguing with that. I wasn't talking about a 'feeling' towards someone but an internalized feeling as in a mood. When an INFj feels depressed they tend to dwell in it and seemingly accept it. They don't seek out ppl close to them to lift them out of these moods, they instead appreciate it more for someone to listen to them talk about what's the matter rather than try to actively seek help. Whereas when an INFp feels depressed they actually want others that are close to them to convince them that everything will be fine and lift them out of the mess. They want someone to actively help them.

What the HELL? I have a hard time believing that. Who the hell WANTS to be depressed and down??? I think what you're trying to say is that to help INFjs you have to be more logical than emotional, generally , because they respond to more than . So saying "Oh my god I can so relate, let's share our feelings together!" with an INFj probably wouldn't work, because I think on a certain level they wouldn't trust that, because like you said, their is too strong and it will simply make a counter emotional arguement untrustworthy to them. But I highly doubt that means they want to stay sad. Who the hell wants to experience negative emotions!!!! (INFjs apparently..har har)

And whatever type the song is, it definitely feels like my Identical, btw...

(and I agree the lyrics on that site were shitty. By bitter I assume you meant 'better.' But I was honestly too lazy to type them out and they're good enough. *shrug*)

Default Which quadra best fits this song?

    heartbreaking:

    (try to ignore the video)

What a beautiful piece of heartache
This has all turned out to be
Lord knows we've learned the hard way
    All about healthy apathy

I use these words pretty loosely
There's so much more to life than words

There is a me you would not recognize, dear
Call it the shadow of myself
And if the music starts before I get there
Dance without me, you dance so gracefully
I really think I'll be okay
They've taken a toll, these latter days

Nothing like sleeping on a bed of nails
Nothing much here but our broken dream
Oh, but baby, if all else fails
Nothing is ever quite what it seems

And I'm dying inside to leave you
    With more than just cliches

There is a me you would not recognize, dear
Call it the shadow of myself
And if the music starts before I get there
Dance without me, you dance so gracefully
I really think I'll be okay
They've taken their toll, these latter days
They've taken their toll, these latter days

    Tell them it's real
    Tell them it's really real
I just don't have much left to say
They've taken their toll, these latter days
They've taken their toll, these latter days

not sure about this song, but i'm pretty sure Linford is INTp and Karin is INFj. their music, as a whole, is not easily categorized.

    ever heard them live?
whenever the dog and i see each other we both stop where we are. we regard each other with a mixture of sadness and suspicion and then we feign indifference.

I have to admit I haven't really looked into their other songs (got any suggestions?). INFj/INTp eh... cool, two Fi-valuing types.

Default please type this mindset.. includes lyrics

Once she loved a boy. But he did not love her.
His name was Jun. Disillusioned she tried to forget.
So she left everything abd traveled to the other side of the world.
But life was like a dream.
    A series of meaningless movement.

And then by chance she met you and your brother.
    The moment she saw you.
She knew you were made for her.

You're never out of her thoughts. She sees only you.

If it was yesterday he'd felt free just like her
He could have been with her
    But today can't be anymore
Tomorrow maybe yes. But today he is not there.

    I heard someone say
That mind keeps wondering from desire to contempt
    From contempt to desire
Never ever feeling bored. Cause we think we are free.
    I think it's so pathetic. Don't you ?
Were you listening to me. No not even one word.

I heard someone say that mind keeps wondering
Life is like a dream. A series of meaningless movement.
    I heard someone say
Let's go to the other world
Because we think we are free. A series of meaningful
    Movement

    ---

Ok so i very much relate to these lyrics. The way I see it, I see a mind that is interested in the progression of life and seeks to give it meaning or to understand what certain life happenings mean, yet is not really tied to such understandings; they could be musings. Yet they are not just musings because they occupy a lot of her time, and enough time is spent on them to evaluate them "i think its so pathetic don't you" and also to find humor in them "were you listening to me, no not even a word" (i see that as a mixture of humor and disdain). Then there is a tendency to tie the thing up with some symmetry or balance.. a hallmark of my behavior. Don't let my self analysis throw you, I'm just saying what I've noticed. I could be just reading things into it but I don't think it really matters.

That is stupid and not empowering at all. It's a very low spiritual energy....

My opinion. Take it or leave it. Though I never understand the whole thing about reading emo, depressing things to lift yourself up. To me...they are TOTAL downers.

If you want me to critique the analysis instead of just saying 'I hate this, it's BS' I'll try to do that too.

    Disillusioned she tried to forget.
So she left everything abd traveled to the other side of the world.
But life was like a dream.
    A series of meaningless movement.
When you break your heart, the natural reaction isn't to be disillusioned and emo. It's to be fucking pissed as hell and make them love you. (Liz Phair, extraordinary: I drive naked through the park and run the stop sign in the dark, blablabla to make , to make you love me) We have been culturally conditioned to think you can't earn your soulmate that 'oh well it's up to you whether you like me or not' like a submissive wallflower bambi that doesn't amount to anything. It takes WORK and not some lifeless ' just love me hehe' while blowing a flower against the wind. It does take going through some conflicts, but never 'shutting down and becoming disillusioned.' She made her own poor choice, I think.

And also it's the negative thing of relying on ONE person to make you happy instead of a community. There will always be certain individuals that make you feel more empowered and loved than others, but relying on just ONE person is stupidity. I know that seems harsh at first- but it's so fucking true. It's what types have to get over, really.

Do you own one pair of shirt, or shoes- or eat the same types of food? You have your favorite shirt and your favorite pair of shoes and your FAVORITE person but you CANNOT TURN INTO A WUSS and have that one special person be the cure-all for your life.

You can have it fucking ALL MAN. The really cool soulmate twu luv aww person and being around a bunch of other people that support and lift you! Power is always yours.

I heard someone say that mind keeps wondering
Life is like a dream. A series of meaningless movement.
    I heard someone say
Let's go to the other world
Because we think we are free. A series of meaningful
    Movement
I say this has some positive connotations, but it's trying to be all cryptic and cool instead of pure and kick ass like me...so it bothers me. The other side- the dream world, the best dream you had in your life is your real, authentic self. If you think back to the dream that gave you the most incredible happiness- that is YOU. Everything else is an illusion. It's true. It really is that magnificent.
