Zero 7 - The Space Between (also called Space Falls)

    I absolutely love this song.

I love the harmony used in this song ... just incredibly moving to me. It's a shame that the harmony mic level is a bit low in this live version until it gets fixed by the second chorus.

There is another video on YouTube of the album version the song that serves as the backdrop for a Kingdom Hearts montage.

I really should go see them live if they ever come around Austin again.

Yeah, I agree it's probably not Delta. I first found E.S. Posthumus through that song, which I found through a game called Plasma Pong. It would play that song while you played Pong (with force powers) and everytime you scored it would kick up the speed of the song a notch. That was most definitely the most exciting game of Pong I've ever come across, lol. Plasma Pong is available for free online if you Google it.

The clip is less interesting, as i'm not a very visual person.

As far as i'm concerned, less is more. The simpler the music, the more powerful the message.
When I was young music was the only thing I paid attention to but over the years I have learn to appreciate the lyrical aspects as well, though the music still takes precedence.

Albeit one kind of INFj, the song makes me think of no other type so clearly.
It reminds me of EIIs lamenting about the wrongings of the world.
A certain look of concern in their eyes, which is very compelling.

I was thinking umbrella was a little more ESI, but it could go for both. I like the song myself.

Really? ESIs always struck me as being uninterested in providing that safety net for people. The chorus strikes a massive chord with me and near as I can tell I'm an INFj, so eh.

    When the sun shines
    We shine together
Told you I'll be here Forever
Said I'll always be your friend
Took an oath I'ma stick it out till the end
Now that it's raining more then ever
Know that we'll still have each other

When an ESI has you on their inner circle, they will pretty much fight for the death for you. + does not take bonds (or the breaking of them) very lightly. They won't provide a safety net for EVERYONE, particularly people they don't care about or aren't in their sphere, but, I think this song is definitely about someone close to Rhianna.

I think an ESI would somewhat relish enduring hardships for and with someone they care about.

This is not to say an EII cannot do any of these things, either.

PS: I think the chorus is kind of very IJ static in general. I'm sure a lot of gammas would say that the "forever" bit is particularly gamma because it has an added time element and implies a long term relationship/togetherness.

That being said, the chorus is something I like, and don't have any problems with relating to it in terms of how I'd experience a relationship with an EII

It's different with music, it manifests differently. I am not having a relationship with the singer/musician/whatever... Fe types are very expressive and can make great musicians. A big part of my favorite music is made/performed by ESFj's and IXFp's.

yeah, i agree. and a lot of my SLI friends actually prefer Fe-ego musicians.

I think it's bc in that context Fe is justified, if not desired.

Yeah, my biggest idol since child is probably Si-ESFj.

A big part of music is about "expressing emotions", and Fe types tend to be naturally good at this and dispose of diverse ways of doing it.

It's got enough focus on Si and bits of Fi to comfortably sit in either quadra, but the jovial bolts of short-term (immediate gratification minded) Fe make it feel very Alpha-ish to me, personally.

I also wanted to mention the idosyncratic nature of the (animated monkey) humor. I think the song is Delta (Si/Ne) while the video is Alpha (Si/Fe).

I think it's possible to hear quadra differences even in instrumental music. I'll give some examples of instrumentals from different quadras in the smooth jazz/R&B genre. See if you can hear/describe the difference. I'll describe them more later.

    Alpha:

    Boney James: Fe ISFp

    Kenny G: Si ISFp

    Steve Cole: Ti ENTp

    Mike Phillips: Ti INTj

Pieces of a Dream sax player Eddie Baccus: (I'm not positive on his type but he seems Fe ego)

    Beta

Alex Bugnon: Ti ESTp (His Keyboard playing seems so Ti)

    Gamma:

    Kirk Whalum: Fi ESFp

    Delta:

Rick Braun: (Either ESTj or ENFp)

David Benoit: Delta NF, maybe Fi ENFp

    Najee: Te ESTj

George Howard: ISTp (not sure what sub, maybe Si)

With the Alpha players the instrument sound is very guiding, and goes for a kind of punch toward the listener. It looks to stir some guiding effect with the listener. With the Fi/Te players the sound seems more like it's being presented "Here it is, here is what's being said, presented as is".

I don't really know how this would fit with my Fe PoLR and stuff but I think I've learned to like/appreciate/value the Alpha way you're describing here as much as the Te/Fi one. I value diversity in expression.

Same. At this point I just like hearing everyone express themselves, and I just like what I like. I've already gone too far letting socionics restrict my preferences of things and be judgmental.

I have to add this example:

Arturo Sandoval: Fe ISFp, a GLARING example of Alpha Fe Si, with that quality of sending a Fe blast out really inciting an effect with his playing, while it all rides along this smooth Si continuum. In general Fe with Ne dual seeking emphasis has this kind of splashing around effect. Imagine some kid in a room with a bunch of buttons, and he decides "Let's see how many buttons I can press and how many lights will turn on". That's how I see certain Fe ISFps with their bouncing around Fe Ne focus.

I love Sandoval's playing, while some people may find it too upfront, pretentious and assuming, criticism I've heard from some deltas about not only Sandoval's style, but other people I listen to that tend to play in that really forward way. To me that kind of playing seems liberating, full of expression, passion, life, so why put a dimmer on it?

I <3 his personality in this interview - it epitomizes the kind of welcoming warmness and groundedness I look for in ISFps

And I totally resonate with the way he talks about music.

Edit: I can't completely rule out Si ESFj.

Cool stuff. Hargrove could def be that. He seems rational and A/D.

Sandoval is great. He's a fucking legend. I like a great deal of his music. But it's also true that in terms of "style" and expression I'd prefer other trumpeters like Freddie Hubbard, Roy Hargrove, Nicholas Payton and Terence Blanchard. Their music possesses a level of mental and emotional depth compared to which Sandoval turns into a less interesting, somewhat shallow sounding figure with lots of wasted/inappropriately used techinque.

Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

~a certain mysterious power that may prove terribly fascinating to the extraverted man, for it touches his unconscious.
