that's sad.
If the personality is changeable... What socionics says is that personality type is not changeable. This means that your brain's way of information processing will stay the same or mostly the same during a lifetime.
However, it depends of you what you consider a personality to be. Forget about a definition of a personality. Stick to the things you want to change, for exaple: procrastination, stubborness in some matters and so on.
Of course you can be a good psychologist. To do that you have to go to university and study a lot. And you should wish to help others with advice.I really want to become more extrovert. I want to become a psychologist,

It takes effort and time, but it's achieveable as any other thing.
You sound a lot like young ISFp  . Psychology needs all the types to make progression.Your middle letteres are improtant to make choice, where to personalize (middle letters are the ones, which you should remind , when you make your career choice). NFs make good psychotherapysts. They are this by nature, in hard times people will find their ways to them. Introversion doesn't play it's role. And introverts are not in terms of Socionics unsociable people.Socionics and psychology have little bit different meanings on that, and by psychological terms, most of the people are ambraverts, who are slightly extroverted.
If you want to become councellor, then F types are the best. I have had ISFp councellor and ESFj types have also been good listeneres and healers. But overall , I think that to make progress in work with patient, the quadra, where you and your psychologist belong, make a big contribution. Best is if you and your psychologist are from the same quadra, specially if he or she is your dual. And sometimes your dual can be your psychotherapist, with out being a councellor![]()
Well don't get all depressed because you are doomed to be an introvert. You know, being an introvert isn't so bad. I've talked to some psychologists extravert(ENF(something)). You have to remember where you have strengths other places you have weaknesses. But so do the extraverts. OK think of it this way...which is going to help someone more...getting more information from them or giving their answers more thought??
INFps make good psychologists. They have to use their second function more often. It's exhausting, but works. I've seen it.
Is it that simple that there people who are extroverts by nature and there are those who are intros?
I guess I might be something like 60 per cent intro and 40 per cent extro.
Is it possible?
Thanks for all replies![]()
Don't care about what type you are. Just do the things you want. Time is draining your youth.
a psychologist is nt a very extraverted job
in fact it isvery well suited for INFp type
but if you want to become more extraverted, you should work in direct sales...
on the other hand if you want to become famous -- use your strong function (Ni), do some sort of art or music
and i know exactly how you feel... according to Gulenko there is a shift in midlife towards your semi-dual. This means an INFp becomes more like an ESFp...
also... i recommend you to read "The Problem of the Puer Aeternus" by Marie-Louise Von Franz
holy crap.. have there been observations about other "shifts" or masks akin to this? or why this would happen?and i know exactly how you feel... according to Gulenko there is a shift in midlife towards your semi-dual. This means an INFp becomes more like an ESFp...
maybe this has to do with individuation process by which our Ego assimilates the Anima.
the type of the anima is probably semi-dual because semi-duals specialize in the same centers of the brain. for example infp and esfp are both hipocampus specialists; estp and intp are both neocortex specialists. As opposed to duals which would have different brain centers developed.
In other words, by great effort you can change your *psychological* type, but within the limits dictated by the *physical* type.
i think some change in staticism dinamicism occurs with age. sensitive people become thicker skinned while "strong silent types" become more sensitive.
also feeling-irrational types tend to become more cool-headed with age. this is because hipocampus, the impulsive emotional center matures early, while the neocortex (logical-irrational center) matures later, by age 30.
it is a synthesis
i am going to explain distance (+ -) of functions when i get a little time
Speaking as an INFP....yes we/they are ideally suited to psychology and/or the counselling profession. An INFP's ability to be empathic, respectful and listen well are key to a helping relationship. I happen to be in a counselling profession and fully embrace all my infp qualities.
Both introverts and extroverts have strenghts and weaknesses. I'm a proud introvert who just realizes that I need down time to recharge - doesn't take away from my ability to communicate and relate with others!
Western culture tends to associate introversion as something negative...way off if you ask me!
Western culture seems to believe that if your not socializing and chasing women at every opportunity, then you have a mental illness.

I'm INFP and can't stand people and their problems. I'd love to be an advice columnist and tell people to quit whining and get a life. No psychologist career for me.
BAN SELF PITY.![]()
Now I know there are real problems out there. That is not what I am talking about here.
<--- Me pouring out all my love on you!
Some days its just not worth chewing through the restraints.
Everyone's shouldering some cross, I guess. Some are more superficial than others. I do get annoyed at petty drama, though. It's why I can't stand Mtv.![]()
I know people who whine about the same problems over and over and over. I get them to admit to a solution and when they whine the next time I ask what they did to rectify the situation. If nothing . . . then I refuse to listen. More people need to take charge of their lives and rid themselves of things that they let drag them down. Life is tough enough without a lot of unnecessary baggage. And don't think I'M going to help you carry it. I'm not unsympathetic. I just can't stand whinny and complaining people. Opps.![]()

Self-pity is good for you. Who wants to solve all their problems and live happily for the rest of their lives? Bo-ring, if you ask me.
