confused ... I relate to the following excerpts from the Si subtype description:

"Their dialogue provides the impression of a quiet, soft person. Often engaged in fine art as a hobby ... Benevolent and tactful, their presence pacifies others. Try to sympathize with others, assist them and provide advice. Like to speak about sensations and attentively questions the interlocutor in regards to his/her affairs. ... slow in conversation, they slightly stretch out their words ... Constantly smiles with confidence, nods head as a token of support, have lazy, smooth movements and refined, graceful gestures. May appear to waddle, or have “duck” gait (maybe ) ... Possess a good aesthetical taste; this can manifest in their clothing, interior decoration ...take care of their external appearance ... They are hedonists, and they love to provide pleasure both to themselves and to others ... will not easily forgive betrayal.... Inclined to emotional enthusiasm, but do not always follow the call of their feelings."

... as well as these excerpts from the Fe subtype description:

"...willingly taking the interlocutor’s hand/paying compliments.; this ease carries a shade of familiarity. Shyness can be overcome by playful remarks; easily speak ironically in a serious/valid tone. Often joke and can speak even of unpleasant things with a smile, sure not to offend the person; precautionary and careful. Impatient and restless, from time to time quarrel with others but are easily appeased and forgiving. Usually optimistic; like to give and receive pleasure; often gives people compliments and renders various services.; are able to cheer up and encourage others. Seem serene for they’re prone to hide negative emotions from strangers. ... Emotional ethics are intensified. ... clothes, about which they are not very choosy – they can also walk around shabbily. Artistic ... emotional ... Are reasonable and yielding ... subjected to sharp fluctuations of mood. May hurry events and manifest impatience. Frequently inconstant in their feelings, but very attentive to those whom they love. When interest in their partner lessens it can be energized with mild jealousies."

Anyone have an opinion as to which one I might be??

you could be neither (i.e. in the middle) - if the subtypes exist on a continuum

I've heard that you can be neither.

but really chopin, the subtype is more like "which sounds more like you"

I agree with about 75% of the Si subtype myself.

Wouldn't that make you an Si subtype then?

I don't know - both of them sound like me .... depends who I'm with really. When I'm with Alphians (yeah i just made that word up) my Fe really stands out .... when I'm with people who aren't that fussed on Fe, I'm more quiet, reserved and sort of formal

But I agree with 95% of the Fe subtype. I will bold what I agree with:

Valentine Meged & Anatoly Ovcharov) Their dialogue provides the impression of a quiet, soft person. (At times.)
Love rest and comfort, are practical and attempt to portray refined taste. Often engaged in fine art as a hobby. Benevolent and tactful, their presence pacifies others. Try to sympathize with others, assist them and provide advice. Like to speak about sensations and attentively questions the interlocutor in regards to his/her affairs. Sluggish in behavior, slow in conversation, they slightly stretch out their words; sometimes without any formulated idea.Even when speaking rapidly they will not hasten to end the conversation; can speak long about the same details. Constantly smiles with confidence, nods head as a token of support, have lazy, smooth movements and refined, graceful gestures. May appear to waddle, or have “duck” gait, but their clothes and accessories are sometimes able to draw the attention of others.

(Victor Gulenko) Possess a good aesthetical taste; this can manifest in their clothing, interior decoration, and job. This artist is frequently drawn to depicting landscapes and still lives. They are a judge of the savoir vivre; for them, comfort is very important. They are sybarites and take care of their external appearance. They are hedonists, and they love to provide pleasure both to themselves and to others. Outwardly more better fed, than the ethical subtype.

    Now the subtype:

(Valentine Meged & Anatoly Ovcharov) Appear alive, emotional and free in their dialogue. Easily string together lines of dialogue while willingly taking the interlocutor’s hand/paying compliments.; this ease carries a shade of familiarity. Usually optimistic(sometimes); like to give and receive pleasure; often gives people compliments and renders various services.; are able to cheer up and encourage others. Seem serene for they’re prone to hide negative emotions from strangers. Speak quickly and confidently, at times categorically, with imperative intonations. Appears noticeable and quick, at times significant; movements are assured and graceful but a little bit gusty.

(Victor Gulenko) Emotional ethics are intensified. Emotional and sociable, enters easily into any company, appears to be an extravert. Loves practical and spacious clothes, about which they are not very choosy – they can also walk around shabbily. Artistic, frequently performs the role of instigator. Finds themselves in amateur artistic activity, can be a musician, actor, advertising agent.

Bleh ... I don't know. I think I'm just a screwed-up Fe subtype or something. .... Cause I feel most like 'myself' when I'm all Fe, but then I'm too conscious of people who don't appreciate Fe which makes me suppress it a lot of the time I think. In fact, people who don't know me that well would probably type me as SLI.

You're easily Si subtype, because I personally don't care if someone doesn't value my functions. I value being myself over censuring myself for someone who I will never have a close relationship with, which is my goal.

What about family - people you have a close relationship with whether you like it or not - would you modify your behaviour if they were - say your conflictor or another type that clashes with yours?

I've left home three times lol. It's not that I like suppressing my personality - it's just a defense mechanism born out of habit I guess. I don't think you can say such-and-such behaviour definitely points to a specific personality type or subtype - there are so many variables to consider - e.g. your upbringing, your culture, religion.... Your behaviour and how you act doesn't necessarily reflect who you are. How else can you explain countries having personality traits? People conform to what is socially acceptable in order to survive.

That said, I agree with you both that you shouldn't let other people change you ... but anyway ....

that's what I was thinking lol

although the kicking vs leaving prob has more to do with the personality of the parents though. I wish I was kicked out. It would have been easier.

yes, but they are so bent up about social perfection and domination atm that it causes huuuge conflict. They also bring their work issues home with them and take them out on anyone nearby and make all sorts of stupid household rules. Erggh.

A particularly pathetic example (yes, this actually happened)

OMGOMGOMGOMGOMG! Dad's boss is coming for dinner. OMG, look at the state of those bath and toilet mats! we need new ones, even in our ensuite, before he gets here!! SCREAM SCREAM SCREAM!! YOU! Scrub the floors, you! Clean the kitchen.

*parents promptly head down the street to buy $400 worth of groceries to make a full three course meal and also buy all new bath mat sets*

Friend who witnessed it- Your parents are fucking retarded.

Me- Can we come to your place?

    Nick- and get very drunk?

An ISFp-Fe is more likely to be mistaken for an INFp, while an ISFp-Si is more likely to be mistaken for an ISTp - maybe this will help?

But I don't think you have to be one or the other, its like shades of gray

I think the subtypes are variable - it's more a measure of what you're doing right now than of what you are. So don't be worried about your subtype changing - it just means that you're balancing out. I see reasons to prefer dominant subtype, but I haven't really thought about creative subtype yet.

Thanks - that's a good way of looking at it.

late to this convo. but anyway. My dad is SEI-Fe and a good friend of mine is SEI-Si. They're similar. Here are the differences between the ones I know:

Si is totally into gardening, camping, hiking
Fe hates bugs and would rather eat a huge bowl of ice cream (tho they both have a sweet tooth and LOVE to eat)

Si is less emotionally expressive on the whole. rarely gushes but does enjoy talking
Fe often gushes, deep gasps of excitement, gets excited about lots of stuff

Si prefers to be in the background
    Fe likes attention and admiration

Si has strong opinions about style, dressing, taste
Fe doesn't seem to care quite as much about that stuff

Si is an artist and more interested in fine art
Fe is a musician and more into music (tho they both like and appreciate both)

Si likes to be funny but not overdo it. more subtle
Fe practical joker, likes to get a huge rise out of people

Si will sacrifice everything for emotional comfort
Fe tolerates more emotional ups and downs

Si is anal about the house being neat
Fe is anal about the doors being locked at night. borderline OCD

I know some of these are more about the individuals here than types (my dad is quirky--he was an overprotected only-child) but maybe it gives a general picture of how two SEIs can be different.

    Locked doors are important.
