Are you guys even old enough to remember the 80s?? Or is this vicarious appreciation??
I confess... the 80s is my music era. GenX.

Blaze, you are copy and pasting the link.

now just hit the "youtube" white and red button that is below the "font color" drop down menu

It will look like this when you are done:
    Code:
    [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtWKwoS5gUw[/youtube]
    which will do this...
    [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtWKwoS5gUw[/youtube]

If you want to, you can put the "youtube" tags in by hand, as well. Just maue sure the url is wrapped by the tags, and looks like it does in the above code field

when i try the youtube thingy it says error...so wtf...this way a new window can be opened and you can listen to all these fantastic 80's tunes and continue to read the thread lol.

at the beginning of the 80's the change in music was like a breath of fresh air. i loved 60's and 70's music and all and it was really meaningful and everything but ya know if i hadda listen to stairway to heaven one more fucking time i thought i was gonna die. so like then the 80's come along and the music is really stupid, like anti- anti-establishment or something. like there is no more meaning, just stupidity. party on dude.

The song that really irritates me is "Hotel California". I swear I hear that song FAR too much. It really flips a switch and I just want to throttle someone. I mean, how many times do I have to hear it?????? I 'spose that would be my version of Hell. Small room with a radio that only plays "Hotel California".

Heresy! I didn't feel that 80s music is all stupid or insipid...! Perhaps I'm biased though -- those songs all hearken back to my (mostly) blissful youth and I kinda bathe in nostalgia. I can't really be objective I guess, there's just too many feelings attached to many of those songs. First love, first heartbreak, first formalwear, etc.

c'mon. take a look, i mean the safety dance??? i'm just saying that compared to the rebellious, culture attacking, consciousness-raising music of the awakening era, 80's music seems cheesy. and it is cheesy, but it's cheesy in a way that says fuck you to all the loaded, heavy, meaningful music of the awakening era.

    Hee!

Guess I never really thought too much about it. I mean, how could *my* era be cheesy and meaningless...?? But you're probably right. It was just mostly catchy and in some cases sappy and adolescent. I'm OK with that. Perhaps that's why we GenXers are mostly about "whatever" when it comes to active counterculturism. Mostly it's more of a "leave me alone to do my thing" kinda vibe.

It ain't what you don't know that gets you into trouble. It's what you know for sure that just ain't so.

wtf all it will say is you didn't write the file url.

    anyway a classic yaz tune....
the last tag needs to be [/youtube] not [youtube] like this
    Code:
    [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHm4mOwq624&mode=related&search=[/youtube]
    [youtube]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JHm4mOwq624&mode=related&search=[/youtube]

Open this to find the a youtube example:

    [spoil:1d2915a212][web:1d2915a212]http://youtube.com/watch?v=_1LcJ6N9vwo[/web:1d2915a212]
    [/spoil:1d2915a212]
Look to the right side of the youtube page.

    See the big SUBSCRIBE button?
Look down, to see two fields of url addresses
The fist one says "URL", and in this case, it is

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=_1LcJ6N9vwo

    Notice how short it is.

That is what you want to copy and past into the youtube tags

    Code:
    [youtube]http://youtube.com/watch?v=_1LcJ6N9vwo[/youtube]
That's what the final product should look like.

Now, you try doing it for the video I just posted.
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
