    Default Dream job!

    I did a search and couldn't really find this topic :/

    whats your dream job? if you've found it, tell us how you got there. If you don't know, let us know what characteristics it would absolutely have to have for you to stay in it for the rest of your life.

    Emergency Medical Technician (though I may decide to become a paramedic, same job but w/ IVs and intubations)

    In no particular order:
    * Gives me a sense of purpose.
    * Makes me use--and thereby strengthen--my weaknesses.
    * Two words: Per Diem!
    * No feeling like having a patient remember your name and say Thank you.
    * Three more words: Lights and Sirens!
    * Adreneline rush
    * Hot firefighters :wink:

    I got into it purely by chance (or fate or God, etc.): I was feeling bad about myself... totally useless and selfish. So, I decided I wanted to volunteer for something. I looked into various volunteer opportunities, but none of them really fit who I was and I wouldn't have been very good at them. So, I was driving along and I see the word "VOLUNTEER"... on an ambulance. I remembered how I had wanted to be on a first aid squad when I was a kid, so I went for it. Getting the hang of things has been an uphill battle, but I love this job! It's really changed my life.

    Yes and I really love it. But I need the research part, too. It's a way of making my curiosity to learn new things AND pass on the knowledge a career.

    Software development for the finance department at MCI. I like to program, but sitting at that desk everyday staring at server output sucked the life right out of me. So, when they offered voluntary lay-off, I took it.

    ...course, now when I'm not working as an EMT (& in between first aid calls) I sit at my desk at home on the internet.

    I studied journalism, and was a newspaper reporter for a number of years. If I could somehow take away the deadlines and intense pressure, that would be my ideal job. Oh, and it would have to bring in more money because I was having some trouble in that department when I was a reporter too.

    That sounds pretty exciting, actually. I had a fantasy once of being an intrepid reporter.

    Writer. It allows creativity, the ability to make money over prolonged periods of time without doing work unless you feel like it, and a constant tap into your subconscious.

    One that would combine the use of philosophy, theorical mathematics, electronic, troubleshooting, marketing, musical composition and critic, journalism, politics and teaching with a good ambience, like one that would be found in a monastery garden. It would also require me to analyze, structurize and critic, both absolutely and practically inventions and/or ideas. 0wned.

    *Note that in this context i interpret "dream" like in "fantasy" as opposed to "ideal within possible circumstances". Otherwise i have no clue what my dream job is.
