I'm gonna have to agree. My ESFj boss and I inspected a bar, and at the end the client offered to buy us a drink. I said I'd get whatever my boss was having, cause I knew it would be good if he said it was, and it was the best beer I'd ever had.![]()
It tastes like Heaven. It's like peaches and nuts and the world's best barley and malts combined into the best drink of our time.
I'm a big fan of Sam Adams beers in general. Hefeweizen is really good, as is Boston Lager (of course). But I think the best beer I've ever drank was Warsteiner Premium Verum.
But, for a certainty, back then,
We loved so many, yet hated so much,
We hurt others and were hurt ourselves...
Yet even then, we ran like the wind,
Whilst our laughter echoed,
Under cerulean skies...
i am piss drunk, it is hard to spell.. aahahah/. beer b damned, pour spirits down my head.

Oregon has the best beer in all the US.
I guarantee it.

This one got me through many a night in South Africa:
The best in southern Africa, by the Namibian brewers. In Namibia you have the best African beer generally imo.

I've had Warsteiner before, and it's great, but I think I'd rank Spotted Cow a little bit higher. It's so good it's practically not even beer. You taste it and go, "what is this?!!!"
Everyone's going to think their state or country has the best beer (and we're not talking about macro brews).Originally Posted by cracka

I agree. I just got back from the Hawthorne District. The Black Butte Porter made me think I could live out my days in Portland drinking nothing but dark beer (and generally, i don't care much for beer).Originally Posted by cracka

Perhaps a silly question --
Are beers with 9% alcohol common in the US? There are a few in Belgium, I like this one:

I hate most American beers, or at least the major manufacturers, so if I drink American beer it is generally locally brewed stuff, which usually the safer bet. I also enjoy German beers, which were the first beers to which I was exposed, as well as many a English and Irish beers.

Nope. Almost all beer here is between 4% (for some of the light beers) and around 7% for the darker, more expensive micro brews.Originally Posted by Expat
Yeah, American macro brews taste like urine smells. The only macro brews I'm able to really tolerate are Budweiser (nice mild flavor that disappears quickly) and Rolling Rock (so bitter and pale you feel bad ass for drinking it).Originally Posted by Logos
Some of the smaller beer makers around here have produced some of the most amazing beer I've ever tasted, so it's a shame that America has a bad reputation among beer snobs abroad.
A reputation for bottling gnats' piss and calling it beer, you mean?

i only just saw a 9% for the first time in the united states. anyhow, i tried it and it was delicious. it was at a pub that was having a beer-tasting festival, sort of a special thing over here for beers to be +4%.Originally Posted by FDG
Plus the fact that there are about 10 different festivals dedicated to alcohol that take place throughout the year just in Portland...Originally Posted by reyn_til_runa

I actually hated Portland for about the first year after moving here from Arizona. Now when someone asks me why I like Oregon my typical response is "the beer. I love the beer."
As for this comment:
I have had beer from many many places and I am somewhat of a beer snob now...lolEveryone's going to think their state or country has the best beer (and we're not talking about macro brews).
As far as the amount of different and great tasting beer from one area to choose from, Oregon is on top of the list. Hell, throw Oregon's Pinot Noir wine in there and it's THE place to be an alky.![]()
It's rather rare to have a really good tasting beer that's that high in alcohol content but the ones that are tasty will rock you...lolOriginally Posted by implied
Most of the microbrewers and homebrewers here keep it around 6-8% and typically only the winter beers will normally venture more around the 9% range since they are a usually a much heavier beer.

oh i know. but what else can we assume from your post? anyway. i've only woken up once with vomit hair. I was 16 or 17 and drank lots and lots of vodka and tampico orange drink in my friend's basement. i later blacked out and vomitted on a pillow. my friend led me to the bathroom where i vomitted more.

While some people have already answered this on their own accord: What are your favorite beers?
In addition to the local brews I can find in tap rooms, pubs, and breweries, I enjoy Beck's, Guiness, Spaten, Yuengling, Warsteiner, Bass Ale.

Guinness and Spotted Cow are my favorites.
