sorry for my "find the right word" quiz again.
But is it alright to use the word "position" instead of "attitude" when talking about introversion and extraversion.

I'd say it would be something more like "Scope" rather than "position"...

that sounds like a sort of "perspective"
sounds allright.
Direction? Focus?

great. thanks.
by the way Scope means something like area of working (in dutch), which is probably the closest to the real meaning of introversion and extraversion.
i'll be back later with some new quizzes.
Means the same, more or less, in English too. :-)Originally Posted by Jarno

Attitude comes from Jung. I think we'll stick with that.
You realize Jung chose his definitions from their latin roots, don't you?
why do you always assume to talk for the community? (or are you using the royal "we"Originally Posted by tcaudilllg

scope is good

Add to that reform probably isn't going to buy a departure from the latin. Consider, taxonomy is latin. Latin is the language of science.
Now you've got two sides against you. Add to that conservatism's veneration of the latin, and you've got a clear 3 to 1 situation. Bottom line is, you don't have the argument to justify the change. Overruled.
Right... except that your points make no sense, therefore neither does your over-rule... thing...Originally Posted by tcaudilllg
One possible reason to change it could be to make it's meaning easier to understand.

Yeah, if renaming the category makes it easier to convey the intent behind the label, why should the label not be renamed?

names are a convention. don't change.
Are you saying the latin speaking world of the past taxonomized terms like 'attitude'. . ? How does that work?Originally Posted by tcaudilllg
Of course not, except in just about every field of study where the previous name is deemed unfit and is replaced by a more appropriate name. Zoology is a great example, and the name changes are in Latin too. :wink:Originally Posted by labcoat

FWIW, 'attitide' connotes 'constitution' to me.
