Research suggests a correlation between the way someone feels or prefers to feel and music preference (direction of causality is still unclear). Here are my (messy) notes from a lecture I sat in on discussing the relationship between music and personality:
Hopefully that'll give you some leads if you are interested in researching it yourself.Quote:

Rush is LIE? How so? "Working Man" and "I'm Think I'm Going Bald" probably lol, not sure how the other songs fit in though.
Although +1 for conscious rap. Mr. Lif :p

You could be mistaking :Ni: with :Ne:, I mean, I'm all for fantasy RPGs and medieval idealism, but :Ni: imagery is the timeless representation of reality. In contrast to an abstract and imagined reality culled from creative sensory details. Ni would not imagine worlds such as LotR, because the physical elements do not exist to be captured through extraverted sensing. Additionally, I associate Ayn Rand more with LIIs than I do ILIs. Te is related to objectivity being external, but Ti reasoning eliminates personal favoritism.

I've posted this once before but I've just realized this is the ultimate ILI/Gamma song. :Ni:/:Se: by imagery and sonic atmosphere. :Te:/:Fi: by lyrical themes.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kd1gbTL8fEI
The song opens up with about 50 seconds of emergence and repeating notes, then nearly 2 minutes in kicks it in into high gear with driving riffs and heavy drumming. The vocals start at about 2 and a half minutes with the guy speaking in an intimate voice with echo effects. Coupled with psychedelic riffs, the rest of the song continues in this format.
The lyrics create the themes of space, technology, purpose, communication/meaning(life), darkness, exploration, desperation and danger; apparently referencing Quest For Fire.

Here's one of my favorite metal songs ever, feels pretty Gamma to me (:Se:/:Ni: of course, and the F coming out of Blitz sounds, reads and feels more :Fi: than :Fe: to me, as opposed to a band like Pantera where I'd give :Fe: the edge overall - also the line "teach me what I need to know" fits right in with the SEE hidden agenda and I can connect with the lyrics and their delivery a ton):

Hah yeah metal is awesome. I definitely see what you are saying about the overkill song.
These songs right here seems pretty gamma, at least in my opinion.

Haha, ESC's butthurt again about his type being questioned.
The Motorhead's something an SEE like me can get down with :D that particular type of hip-hop though? I'm getting :Ne:>:Se: for the middle one - that subgenre of hip-hop gives me a huge :Si: impression due to the soundscapes - :Si: is a thing to get immersed in, while :Se: throws punches!
Here's something that raps, rocks, and represents the SEE part of Gamma:

I once believed Post-Metal was the "be all end all" of metal. I kind of still do. After hearing bands like Cult of Luna and Baroness(and they're tons more indie), the other styles just seem like entertainment, while Post-Metal provides room for thought.

Oh, I could see ISFj for her I suppose. I can't understand Russian so I'm going off of how she comes off in motion, seems very unreactive. Still reminds me of Dylan Moran in a way though.
Nah. Lead singer of Pantera (Phil Anselmo) is ESFp; bassist Rex Brown is probably INTp, too. So I suppose that makes it Gamma. Coincidentally been one of my favorite bands for years.

Thanks to Bionic for finding her.
After having met Phil Anselmo, now I'm damn sure he's not a ESFP. I chatted with him backstage/in the dressing room for a good hour before a show, he's a very cool dude btw. Speaking of which I'm going to do the same thing again next month...sneaking backstage at one of his Down shows.
I'm about 99% positive he's a LSI. Very laid back, chill, thoughtful, analytical dude, who's actually very "shy" --- it definitely took a few beers to get him to loosen up and be ready to hit the stage.
But Pantera overall are a very Gamma/Beta mixed band - yes. 'lotta :Se:
Off the top fo my head -- not many Gammas in pop music. I doubt many have the patience for it.
lead singer of Neon Trees -- ENTj 1.
Enrique Inglesias -- INTp 4w5
lead singer of Mumford and Sons -- ESFp 3
Adam Lambert--ESFp 7w6
Taylor Swift -- ENTj 7w6
Kelly Clarkson -- ISFj
Daughtry -- ENTj 6w7
Michael Buble -- ESFp 2w3
lead singer Lifehouse -- ISFj 4w5
Colbie Caillet -- ESFp 7w6
Kanye West -- ESFp 8
Nikki Minaj -- ISFj 4something.
John Mayor -- ISFj or ESFp 6w7. I'm leaning towards a very odd ISFj 6w7.
Gamma Fi is really easy to pick up on if you can recognize it because all 4 of them pour it on like sugar doesnt have calories. It is far less hard to miss than Delta Fi is, which is more of a subtle undercurrent.
There are more but I cannot recall right now.
Isis probably has a few ILIs in it, that or their alpha NTs.

Actually you know what, I'm starting to buy it. Interviews have me reconsidering her as EJ > EP. Her performances are really interesting to watch, because while her voice is huge, her visible emotionality on her face is very inward, which doesn't seem like a very Fe trait when you take into account such a strong voice. Half the time she isn't even looking at the audience, like she's sort of sinking into her own world; N > S mayhaps.
