A cardinal principle of Total Quality escapes too many managers: you cannot continuously improve interdependent systems and processes until you progressively perfect interdependent, interpersonal relationships.
Stephen Covey
Actually I did not invent the seven habits, they are universal principles and most of what I wrote about is just common sense. I am embarrassed when people talk about the Covey Habits, and dislike the idea of being some sort of guru.
Stephen Covey
Effective leadership is putting first things first. Effective management is discipline, carrying it out.
Stephen Covey
Every human has four endowments- self awareness, conscience, independent will and creative imagination. These give us the ultimate human freedom... The power to choose, to respond, to change.
Stephen Covey
If we keep doing what we're doing, we're going to keep gettingwhat we're getting.
Stephen Covey
In the last analysis, what we are communicates far more eloquently than anything we say or do.
Stephen Covey
It's a fact that more people watch television and get their information that way than read books. I find new technology and new ways of communication very exciting and would like to do more in this field.
Stephen Covey
Live out of your imagination, not your history.
Stephen Covey
Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success; leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall.
Stephen Covey
Most people struggle with life balance simply because they haven't paid the price to decide what is really important to them.
Stephen Covey
Our character is basically a composite of our habits. Because they are consistent, often unconcious patterns, they constantly, daily, express our character.
Stephen Covey
Public behavior is merely private character writ large.
Stephen Covey
The key is not to prioritize what's on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.
Stephen Covey
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
Stephen Covey
There are three constants in life... change, choice and principles.
Stephen Covey
We are not animals. We are not a product of what has happened to us in our past. We have the power of choice.
Stephen Covey
We are not human beings on a spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings on a human journey.
Stephen Covey
We are the creative force of our life, and through our own decisions rather than our conditions, if we carefully learn to do certain things, we can accomplish those goals.
Stephen Covey
ISTP IMO
perhaps Te, possibly Se
rational and positivist most likely
ISTp doesn't seem to fit... he's too concerned with doing stuff

Either ESI or EII.
ENFJ is a distant possibility.
Also very possible.Quote:

ISTJ in my opinion.
.
He's all about accomplishment... a picture of rationality in a way. I see ISTps as like... the total opposite of this. It could be just the ones that I've known, but ISTp's seem to be one of the least motivated types.
Dio, he is not ISTP.
I've had this guy's thread here before.

hmm... I'd say ISTj > ISFj, but I'm not saying he's ISTj
Ishe ESTJ by any chance?
seems far more likely than ISTp, but I dunno
Definitely not ISTp
definitely rational.
ISTj
ESTj very possible
Maybe LII.
Anyone want to try to type him again?
He may very well be my identical. I relate to a lot of what he wrote, and he and I are concerned with the same things.

With people, little things are big things. I once had a student come to me at the end of the semester and essentially say after praising the class, "Dr. Covey, you are an expert in human relations, but you don't even know my name."
He was right. I was chagrined, embarassed and properly chastened. I have to deal with my tendency to submerge myself in intellectual conceptualization , task orientation and efficiency all the time. ..."
He's the splitting image of a co-worker I believe is ENXp. Lazy 'far-seeing' eye.
(FWIW, admittedly not much).
I think Stephen Covey is an ISTj (ISFj next option).
Also, I think I learnt quite a bit about emotional control from the 7 habits of Highly Effective People and I still read parts of the book occasionally.
What i did not like about his philosophy is a somewhat placating stance that i have noticed in :Se: creative types. One of several such examples of this is that he recommended at one point in the book that if you have an offensive/abusive boss etc then the best action you can take is to work hard to understand their needs and please them. Mr Covey then seemed to imply that this will eventually bring your boss over to your side. I strongly disagree with this opinion, I think it is bad advice and naturally became somewhat turned off from the book because of it. I think if you have an offensive boss you should take strong and active steps to stop the offence and not enable it and failing that, get a different job all together. I think ISXjs often have this sort of appeasing type philosophy and are capable of disciplining themselves to tolerate all sorts of abusive situations and this problem is compounded by what appears to be their inability to think of new advantageous situations for themselves or varied ways of agitating for change without outright aggressive confrontation. :Se: and :Ne: related possibly.
ESFj ? - Did you miss this post?
