I have seen some people on here sharing their poetry on their blogs, but why not in a thread?

So here we go.

I would not say poetry is my forté (I feel more at home with prose), but I have given it a go in 2014-2016 regardless.
Interestingly, my ambivalent infatuation for an ESI guy truly got the ball rolling. For me, there seems to a strong correlation between my SX instinct being "activated" and how creative I'll be.

 

Known Stranger

In a parallel universe
I would have truly known her,
Wearing that ivory delicate flesh
guarded by soft black mesh –
A being imbued with fragile, strong glances
which were hanging longingly in the air

I dare not wonder what could have
happened, if one of her glances
had cast me, had asked me
for my Self

Moments of familiar joyous laughter,
a lounging on the grass-green meadow
of a fantasy;
Her lips talking to her fancy –
What if it all would have ended
in a soul-devouring frenzy?

And so I looked, and so I dreamt
And so I will never meet her again

 

Ambivalence

Two forces, in opposition,
with torches, in position –

They fire with desire,
and consume with ire –
Without resolution

The flames, they whisper,
they make me simmer –
I wonder, will t•he•y register

My ambivalence

 

A Thought

What if there is nothing
in this being of two –
intertwined in a duo,
of tumbling thoughts
and hushed closeness

 

Goner

Forlorn, so long
Gone, oh gone –
With thoughts undone,
all along, for so long

Never have been
never would be –
together

Always have been
always will be –
a goner

 

Taste

Was it Taste –
Quivering on my mouth
or resting on your eyes?

What is Taste –
is it a race
after admiration,
or idolisation?

See, all I Taste
are delusions
of the senses

Hear, all you feel
are confusions
of the breathless

 

Dreams of Blue

Shades of blue and green
toning down my face,
with illuminations
of wonder, so keen

To touch no one, but
myself

I wonder what has made
me think of things;
So nonchalant
and forgotten

Are the tales
of children in summer nights,
no sheen, just green –
and the candle is flickering;

But blind hands keep licking
down my wary eyes,
until someone will realise

What it means to be
broken blue

 

Frustration

Scratching on my skin, and heart, and face –
What for, what a waste, what a chaste
act of obsessive indulging in

Crying, laughing, a never-ending dream
of all I will never truly seem
to know, to see, to hold –

Withhold? Uphold, that I'd do,
this dream with a vigour one cannot
comprehend, seek to understand

And I know there is a trend
in my ways, and I know
all I’ve dreamt is futile – but
there is this knowing of the
unreal...

 

Who Am I

Mirroring; endlessly
stripping my heart
to the music of
a silent symphony

How dead can I be?

Until you see
my psychopathy

Free

Lulling lowly over lory lows,
was all I did, long time ago

Fearing feeling furious fervour,
with my heart, over and over

Now I'm free - with all I've done
I have begun to overcome
what's keeping me captive.

 

Clueless

Cloaked around in seriousness,
draining all my liveliness.
Listen to the sound of nothing

Blank stare, rank lair
of unforgettable walls
between you and me –
Can’t you see?

What is misery?
Not knowing
what life
wants to
be

 

Plastic People

Peek a little closer,
see that supervisor
who’s hammering in
all you’ve been,
and will be in your life

Tic Tac Toe,
Big life show
with plastic mouths and eyes
vividly portraying lies
with that shimmer
on your thighs

Who said you were the one?
You are one for everyone
Sell your life, there is no soul

Satan's laughing –
It’s your role

 

Let me tell you shyly from the Tale of Waken Death –
from the Tale of Laughing away your heart’s arrest

Death was born long ago, in a land far-off in Dreams,
when all She did was living in all that seems.
She was too true for Life itself

A soul too dead was a heart too hollow,
and so all she did was wallow in sorrow.
With a smile on her teeth.

But who could have believed
her mind was not dead at all –
all its wonders were hidden,
you could stir them in Fall

Though it seemed oh forbidden,
so She would keep them bed-ridden
with the Death in her Soul –
and oh Life, it reeked foul

Waken Death, I had said –
and I was not mistaken;
Or maybe I was, for surely
She wasn’t awakened.

Later this wondrously happened,
after her Life’s deadly slumber:

She would open her eyes
and sweetly remember.

My friend, She’s chosen Life.
Finally – Yes, her Life!

Alive.

 

Void

Do you hear the pain?
For it is calling my name,
Calling me back to roots
of all that has been dark
and stark in its frightful ways

There is no pain in agony –
Only empty, white blasphemy:
No belief in anything bright,
for nothing's ever truly right

But then pain again – I cannot
sustain a life, so singular

I've known of people, who deemed
to be spectacular, have been
wearing blinds

And I am knowing all kinds
of emptiness

 

Giving up

after giving in to lows and highs.
What is up, what is down, what is where;
My heart is being tangled in lies.

Will there ever be an even line
that is traveling from One to Me,
in a way that my deep-sunken soul
is being encompassed, truly?

Losing hope's easier than belief,
for my mind is shattered by white grief.

 

Loss

Losst in a trail of thoughts,
Leading me away
from who I was.

Where should I go?
I'm stumbling in woe.

Shall I return or build from anew?
Shall I forget and move on from you.

Not only my brain's in half -
but my own heart too.

 

I Can

Not, you
have told me
I could, but
Would I?

Hope was the light,
Now it's the night,
That reminds me
Of all I've lost

Nothing's lost in vain,
you say, I refrain
From scorning you
While feeling blue,
With a heart that's grey -
hope's falling away

I can,
and I can -
Not what I was looking for
So I'll be looking again
for what i can

The time is right

 

My House

I walk through a lonely house,
with clam walls and haunted halls

The darkness softly humming,
I can hear my heart drumming
to a silent beat

Time doesn't fly, but it crawls,
and exposes my black flaws

There's no echo - just a sigh
of a passion that was nigh

I do not know what love is,
besides a heartbreaking kiss

The kiss of death, he grew pale:
I can kill men without fail

Is this my true destiny,
Or just what I came to be?

Your Youth in You
thwarts my heart in
Two or Three Ways

Torturing face
beguiling hair

Fantastic summer flair
in the air of nights
Roses bloom in gloom
forever at dawn’s noon

A mouth saying
wherefore art thou
a swirl in time

Can I truly deny

The pain of a kiss
I have always missed

The siren’s sullen song
rings painfully raw now

It's the illusion of a beating heart
that turns darkness into light

The concept and the word
the savage and the lord
the missing piece of the truth
creates the conflict and the sooth

It's like dreaming with open eyes
none knows where the body lies
while swimming through the dream
the concept becomes the theme
the judge is the thief
the happiness, the grief.

I much prefer composing to writing lyrics, but you should always learn new tricks. I have started song writing on and off for the last year.

So just brainstorming now...

Last night I found my home
In a student bar downtown
You can see the lights and feel the lust
You want to earn your crown

Now just as I was trapped
In some crude philosophy
I see a girl, she's beautiful
And she comes right up to me

What strategy she has!
How will this come to pass?

Well take a chance
Gamble hard

Just in case anyone here is interested: I will repeat the offer I made a few months ago. I am looking for a lyricist to collaborate with me and produce some songs over the summer break (yes it's summer here). I would like it to be someone I've watched a bit rather than some random from a music board. There seem to be a few people on 16types with poetic talents.

You provide the lyrics, I'll set them to music. No prior experience in songwriting is required, so long as you are passionate about rock, metal and classical music.

(haiku)

I was inspired by you guys to hunt down poems I posted in a poetry community like ten years ago but I'm too embarrassed because they were kind of literal and concrete (as far as poetry goes) describing relational insecurities. So I'll just share the two I wrote for a haiku contest with the theme of summer memories.

racing down the street
sticky ice cream truck fingers
untied shoelaces

giggles behind palms
the fort made of found items
says no boys allowed

The plateau state of existence
when we’re reaching to the ground
The silent scream of resistance
in the moment of rebound

My heart is beating
blood is heating
brain stands frozen still
as my body and my will

The morning I’ll leave

how much of us survives
if the past always dies

I taste the mud

Dead eyes seeking
But never found
Locked away
With Satan's hounds

My only friend became an enemy
And enemies got even worse
Welcome to my life
It's just an eternal curse

We hope for 'better'
But better never comes
Not even a less worse

If all walls shall tumble, though they never will
And we can sit with our quiet lover atop the moonlit hill
We can burn the world great with our gay love so true
I want to destroy this world-
And create something new

The FBI would twist what I say
And say I advocate murder
But I don't want anybody killed,
No sacrificial lambs to the slaughter
Just your shitty institutions and mind control shit

Sexual allegation is a distraction
To the manipulation gaslightin rule-the-world tactics
Your privacy is being violated, at this very moment
With the false pretense that they are the good guys

Dead eyes may always seek,

Xopowo!

Long lost secrets in the depths are brought up, up, up, to rest on the ink black sleepy waves, to bear as witness to the Queen’ Serene glow. She moves the very soul of the sea. Starfish. Mollusks. Algae. Whales. Dolphins. Shipwrecks. Oh how grand the vessels still are in spite of time and water weighing them down. Beings of ancient times also surface. The kraken. The hydra. Sea serpents both malicious and divine. Merpeople who chatter to each other in shrill tongues, half soothing half maddening. Tawny Moon. She shows the way. All hidden and all that was once lost will return.

As my mind lays on ice,
tver thinner by the awakening of the song birds,
the monsters underneath shriek in sorrow,
to the end of their wrathful world of shadows.
I'm down for a dive.

Silvery cracklings,
fragments of cold bedding drifts,
tongues of flames through troubled water,
who knew fire could freeze?
I'm down for a dive.

The sky welcomes dusk as hero,
the frigid night instal itself in bitterness,
there is land for which preparation is never enough,
as time comes against.
Travelling back to the planning table.

Recklessness makes a roller coaster fall back,
it is without confidence that arrogance build itself,
mediocre replacement,
the land of angels is mere jinx of the false deity.
Wings will burn fast.

The fleeting spirit ends up facing itself in the firmness of ice,
the abyssal of the self in confrontation,
happenstance or synchronisity,
only one may tell.
I'm down for a dive.

I speak but my words dissipate before you can hear,

Dark horse charges through to win the fight,
Charging through with all its might,

Whirlpool paradise extends a branch
Soda pop frequencies elevate a flower
The rose crown spectra dice rolls fate
The lovely casino of empires orders blades
A star of dinosaur dimensions rampages blossoms
