Help me out please and I will be eternally grateful (thehotelambush v0.2)
Describe yourself.
I’d say I’m a bundle of contradictions. I can be really warm and charming, but also pretty cold and distant. My actions seem erratic, but they still make sense to me. I am pretty well built, but I have really bad body control. Throw a ball at me and I bet a tenner it’ll hit me right in the face. People who don’t know me often think I’m stupid, the one’s that know me usually think I’m intelligent. I can be productive and focused, but silly and lazy. I’m 22 btw.
What do you study or do for a living? How did you come to do that? What do you like or dislike about it?
Currently studying something that doesn’t seem to be the right thing. I’m planning on switching to something else this autumn.
What are your values, and why?
I really have to think about that, my values are just kind of there and come out during conversation or when judging a situation/person.
- Respect
- Honesty
- Integrity
- Peace
- Fairness
- Openness
- Independence, but cooperation
- Equality, not communism, but closing the gap a bit wouldn’t hurt.
- Productivity (useful one)
What else do you do on a daily basis? What are your interests and hobbies? Why do you do them?
- Talking with people I enjoy talking to.
- Exploring things, doesn’t matter if it’s theoretical stuff on the internet or real world things.
- Doing sports. I don’t have a favourite sport, I just do whatever I feel like doing today. I try to have a loose schedule though.
- Travelling, if I see a good offer I just book the flight.
- Music, movies, the usual stuff.
- Studying, well at least technically.
Describe your relations with family and friends. What do you like and dislike about them.
I try to keep things short or this just ends up being way too long:
- Family: Generally I like the atmosphere of trust, support and understanding in my family. I dislike the fact that especially my father is socially really averse. I’d like to have a livelier house. I do get along extremely well with my grandparents, they just have certain leisurely pace and orderliness that I enjoy.
- Friends: They wouldn’t be my friends, if I didn’t like them. I generally appreciate them for being funny, intelligent and interesting people. We have a good atmosphere, we do tease each other, but not in a rude way. Generally we either discuss things or do something together. I’m not a huge fan of pointless binge drinking and screaming around in big groups.
What do you look for in friends? In romantic relationships?
- Friends: Humour, Trust, Adventurousness, Reliability
- Romantic: Self-respect, trustworthiness, reliability, stability, openness for new things, no drama queens
What conflicts have you encountered recently with other people? Why did they happen? Which kinds seem to happen on a regular basis?
Had a massive quarrel with an ex room mate. She blamed me for demolishing something, I didn't do it. At first I tried to get my money back, but I quickly realised that this isn't worth a law suite and let her keep it. Haven't spoken with her since.
How would your friends describe you?
- Impulsive, but not in a violent/destructive manner
- Entertaining
- Inconsistent
- Trustworthy
- Charming and polished on the one hand side, silly and hyper on the other hand side
- Useless knowledge
- Apparently I also look like a victorian explorer who just came back from a 10 week expedition through the amazon jungle.
What do people generally see as your strengths? What do you like about yourself?
- Finding unknown/creative solutions for problems
- Quick at grasping things
- I can see through people
- I can be very charming
- Very broad knowledge
- Efficient once I get started (takes ages when I’m not motivated/interested)
What are your weaknesses? What criticism do you often face from others? What do you dislike about yourself?
- Procrastination
- Fluctuating energy levels
- Slightly hedonistic
- Lack of focus, my attention span is something like 2 seconds
- Stubborn, I never back down, when I feel I’m right
- Putting on a happy facade, but suffering emotionally underneath
- I always forget paying bills, I don’t know how much I already payed for overdue fees...
In what areas of life can you manage well on your own? In what areas of your life would you like help?
- Good: Socially, creative, keeping myself entertained
- Bad: Being more productive, eating regularly, knowing which step to take next.
What things do you find to be a chore? What things do you enjoy more than others?
- Paperwork, I see that it’s necessary, but I still hate it.
- I enjoy learning new things.
What goals, aspirations, or plans do you have for the future? How did you come to have them?
Getting my PhD, finding work I enjoy and find exciting. See more from the world. Having a stable social environment. Kids, stable romantic relationship.
If you had enough money to live comfortably for the rest of your life without working, what would you do with your time?
Travel, enjoy life. When I’m done seeing enough, spend money on something useful for humanity.
What traits do you find endearing that others might dislike? What traits are considered positive/neutral by others but tend to annoy you?
People who speak slowly. I just like that.
Do you know these TV shows, were some youths are constantly making up artificial drama ? That’s just unbearable.
What kinds of things do you do to manage and/or beautify your environment (your room, your house, etc.)? What do you think of daily chores?
I have a painting… I am not really good at things like that, but I certainly would like to. Daily chores annoy me, I usually put them off. Sometimes I enjoy cooking, grocery shopping or manual labour though.
How do you behave around strangers?
Depends. If I don’t have anything to do with them I’m pretty distant and cold. If I have something to do with them or get introduced I am usually very charming. Generally the degree of warmth I give someone also depends on whether I judge them to be a good or bad person.
How do you react to conflict? What do you do if somebody insults or attacks you?
If I am not bothered I just ignore it or joke around. When I am bothered I can get really aggressive though. I generally dislike conflict, but if someone is constantly looking for it, I certainly show him the door.
What is one common misconception that people have? Explain why it is wrong.
That money makes you happy. It doesn’t. It's just wrong, there's nothing to explain here.
What did you do last Friday?
Hanging out with some friends, watching movies together, talking/discussing. Relaxed day basically.
What is your biggest accomplishment?
I as doing an internship and they created a new post for me. They anticipated a 30h/week demand for the things I was doing, but when I left I had accumulated so many orders that they hired 4 full time employees to replace me. Generally I’m not the type of person who is obsessed with accomplishments, though.
What is something you regret?
Missed opportunities. e.g. my great-grandmother who I really loved to pieces died and I had the opportunity to see her 2 weeks earlier when she was still fine, but I was too busy to take the flight. I still feel bad for that. That's just one of many examples
Who do you admire, and why?
Sincere and good hearted people. Hard working people, who don’t make a big fuzz about it.
What's been on your mind? Has anything been worrying or concerning you? What problems have you encountered lately?
The general unrest in Europe. Extremists form various sides trying to steer people up. Can’t we just deport these people to some remote island ? They can stab each other there, but leave the rest of us out of it.
What are your religious or spiritual beliefs and why do you hold them?
None, there are so many options, it’s pointless to think about it.
What are your political beliefs, and why? To what extent do you care about politics?
I just want a peaceful environment in which people freely can do whatever they like while being productive, equal and just at the same time.
Would you ever be interested in starting a business? Why or why not? What role would you play in it? What kind of business would it be?
I’d definitely like to be my own boss, I value independence. My father has his own business, so I do know about the downsides as well. I’d like to do something that is interesting, constantly evolving and yields a benefit for other people as well.
What kind of work environment do you prefer? What do you look for in a job?
Shallow hierarchies, everyone should be encouraged to give his input. I prefer clear goals over ambiguity. Not too much stress and pressure.
I do look for variety in a job.
What is or was your favorite school subject and why?
History and Geography. Simply fascinating topics, unlimited prospects, fascinating people/places etc.
How do you approach responsibility? What do you tend to expect of others?
I try being responsible and I even try harder to come across as someone responsible tbh, but I’m quite impulsive sometimes.
Where did you go on your most recent vacation? What did you do there? How did you like it and why?
Japan, sight seeing. I liked it for the most part. The temples and gardens are incredibly beautiful. Just the fact that so many people put so much effort into creating one of these gardens is fascinating. I also liked the orderliness and good manners. People behave calmly and friendly (sometimes a bit too rigid/distant though). The only thing I didn’t like was that the japanese people are abnormally hard to get to know. I pretty much exclusively talked with westerners.
What were you like as a kid? How have you changed since you were a child?
I change quite a bit since my childhood. I was popular, pretty funny, rule breaking and very outgoing. I had some blows of fate between 16 and 18 and became more reclusive, silent and harsher since then.
What was your high school experience like?
I had a nice social circle. Sucked at school though, since I am not a thorough learner at all.
Talk about a significant event from your life.
When my father got his cancer diagnosis. I was really shattered. I’m still slightly ashamed that I spent my time sulking instead of comforting him. Fortunately he’s sane again and got through it better than 98% of people.
Do you like kids? Why or why not?
There are kids I love to pieces and there are others I can’t stand. I know that the greeks 2000 years ago already said that, but it seems like the current generation is worse behaved than we were.
If you were to raise a child, what would be your main concerns, what measures would you take, and why?
Hmm, that’s such a massive topic. I barely know where to start.
- Make sure that the child feels loved and secure
- Encourage it to be kind, but productive
- the list goes on, but I’m to lazy to write it all down…
Ever feel stuck in a rut? If yes, describe the causes and your reaction to it.
When someone I thought I could trust disappointed me. I can think weeks, even months about that. It sometimes occupies me so much that I get really unproductive.
How do you see other people as a whole? What do you consider a prevalent social problem? Name one.
There are good people and bad people. Radical tendencies, the promotion of questionable lifestyles, maniacs in influential positions.
What do you do if you're not getting what you want? What approach do you use?
Thinking about different options to get what I want. Try to set up a situation from which everyone benefits.
Are you comfortable taking leadership roles? In what areas? Why or why not?
Depends, I generally don’t have a problem leading people. I can be pushy if it’s really needed, but I usually try to create a peaceful and relaxed environment., where people can discuss things in small groups.
How often do you get angry? What kinds of things make you angry?
When technical things don’t work. People who wake me up at 4am because they chopped of their exhaust silencer and think they are Sebastian Vettel.
I’m probably more often angry than other people, but my anger is more shallow and very quick to disappear.
When I hear about murder or rape I usually experience a mixture of anger and pain.
What is the best thing that happened to you during the past week?
I got a really good fare to Palau, I always wanted to see the south sea. I’m pretty excited.
What is the worst thing that happened to you during the past week?
I spilled water over my MacBook. Now my trackpad is broken.
What is the purpose of life? What do you find personally meaningful in life?
- Be happy
- Grow as a person
- Contribute something for the greater good and humanity
What is the most interesting place you have been, and why?
Saudi desert. Just a great experience. The drive there alone is great, when you see the last small village, before hundreds of kilometres of an endless sea of sand. The whispering of the grains in the wind, gazing at the milky way and just forgetting about everything.
How do you dress or manage your appearance?
Slightly extravagant (I like patterns), but not over the top or bling-bling-style. I try to match colours, but I generally stick with standard tones.
Generally I try to look good, but at the same time I’m oblivious to some details.
Do you like surprises?
Not that much.
Is there anything else important about you that we should know?
I don’t think so, Sir.
I struggled quite a bit with the questionnaire, it isn't easy for me to explain all the Why?-questions. I also don't know why these spaces between the answers won't close...
