"Be the person you needed when you were younger."
What type of person would you be, then? Also, indicate which period of time you refer to when looking back. If you like, comment on the concept itself as well.

I think in a broad sense that this works as a decent enough outline for character. If you have younger people dependent on you, I feel their needs will end up totally superceding this though.
The person I needed was someone interesting. Someone cosmic, able to impress and amaze me in action and in knowledge. Someone willing to do crazy things. Someone knowledgeable, to give me whatever answers I needed. And, most importantly, someone able to take my endless bullshit and stick it out with me until the end.
Idk exactly when, probably childhood. I'm still kinda young so I don't have a long timeline to look back upon.
I agree with this. Young people need someone with knowledge and good character, someone who shows that you can make something of yourself. But Western culture doesn't really allow a lot of contact between younger and older people that would allow this kind of mentorship to develop (except maybe in a professional setting or in academia). This is one reason I am grateful to be Muslim, because I've had so many great mentors and spiritual teachers.
