I would inquire that :Ne: Hidden Agenda as a value of the xSE is the desire to always have the potential to do whatever. In its most primal state, :Ne: represents a position of raw potential, an impredictable state in which potential energy can manifest into anything under the sun if it so desires (built from the Ep temperament, the idea of acting on impulse and momentary desire, being pulled a direction that leads somewhere interesting and worthwhile). As a core value to both of those types, it would theoretically suggest that they would be very sensitive to their own potential or perhaps even the potential of others (but wouldn't seek to help others realize it, as that is a job for :Ne: egos).
The "to be perfect" definition was probably derived from the idea that :Ne: represents all-powerful potential. xSE would want to have the potential to succeed at anything they choose to set their minds to, to achieve their own potential to do. The idea that something can't be done even with hard-work and persistence would be a blow to their self-esteem. These types, remember, are vulnerable in :Ni:, which often tends to manifest itself in inevitability, fate, circumstances beyond any sort of control, and a sense of importance; thus, they attempt to avoid the truth that some things are inevitable or that some things are just plain improbable even with the will to achieve them. These types want to see the world as a place where anyone can make their mark or do whatever they please, achieving their own potential, not a world where people are restrained by their limitations and the limitations imposed by uncontrollable circumstances (such as class, genetics, etc. [also the reason why :Ni: is often associated with time and fate]). Whereas xSI seek the direction and guidance of :Ni:'s inevitability, linearity, and sense of feasibility, xSE seek out potential to be able to do whatever they desire, the ability to see promise in even the smallest of things, the worldview that anything is possible.
Just my two cents, which could easily be wrong.
