lol what even is this album... it's so cool honestly. I've heard this described as: "robots making love" and "loneliness" and "desolation".
after further research I found another quote: "It disturbs the comfortable and comforts the disturbed." I'm not yet sure what side of that I relate to, I find it calming more than anything dark

I don't have a precise example now so I narcissicaly post one of my mix :
https://soundcloud.com/no_idsc/solaar-pleure (rock, art rock, ambient, IDM)
& some track of mine
https://soundcloud.com/no_idsc/no_id-eyes-over-cairo (techno + break + acid)
https://soundcloud.com/no_idsc/oasis (ambient acid)
https://soundcloud.com/no_idsc/no_id...rs-first-track (break)
some unfinished stuff :
https://soundcloud.com/zattwaks/new-break-test (break, the sliced part is quite strange rythmically)
https://soundcloud.com/zattwaks/fxpa...c-abl-303-acid (low tempo acid)
https://soundcloud.com/zattwaks/tune...te-short-intro (synthetized break + allan watt speaking)
overally the weirder one is the mix posted at first. Other are weird just because no one listen to that now, that's kinda late 90's deviated style
You have creepy stuff too like that :

More melodic, at least partly less weird, but only partly.

Karlheinz Stockhausen had a huge influence on the music style of a few rock bands. Einstürzende Neubauten is one of them.
...and now, a masterpiece of early sampling technology...

Nice thread. I've been looking for some new music over the weekend. Here's some contemporary stuff that I actually like and can listen to. Very beautiful and interesting.
There is something liberating with this music that totally disconnects from melodies or traditional harmonies.
Everything is acoustic, but it can sound like a synthesizer, but it's all natural instruments.
The third piece "Limited approximations" is played by orchestra and 6 micro-tonally tuned pianos. It creates amazing sounds effects.
Penderecki: Kosmogonia (1970)
Penderecki: String quartet (1960)
Haas: Limited approximations (2010)
Mahnkopf: Medusa (1990-1992)
Pärt: Symphony 4 "Los Angeles" (2009)
Pärt: Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten (1977)
A thread about weird music without the band Yello? Impossible!

This is a cover. The original song is following one:

The song and the video is from 1982. And I still like it.
Interestingly I see some visual concepts of this video also in the music video of Somebody That I Used To Know from Gotye.
listen carefully to the lyrics to understand why this is a weird song
