Back when i had the opportunity to have all you can eat breakfast, tatter tots was the shit.
holy shit, i LOVE breakfast! when people say they don't like eating breakfast i'm like
other: French toast w/syrup and powdered sugar, waffles, grits w/butter, Cream of Wheat, biscuits, croissants, toast w/cream cheese & jelly, hot chocolate, apple juice, cinnamon buns, cheese danishes & other pastries!
If I have to get up early, I can barely get myself to eat something. However, it's usually just this with butter & jam:

Bacon and eggs with a tall glass of OJ errday
Picasso.
Whatever's available. When at college, I usually have a breakfast croissant (sausage, egg, and cheese) on-hand.
Full English - Fried bread, beans, hash browns, bacon, sausage, black pudding, gallons of tea (no eggs please). Rain streaming down the window and a newspaper. Yeah.
breakfast burrito - egg, sausage, salsa, cheese mmm.
I've had calf brains before... (before mad cow disease was a concern). I was like 6 years old and my mom fried them in breadcrumbs. They were really REALLLLLY good...omg...
I wouldn't want it for breakfast though i dont think.
Yeah I dont know what makes them do that. at least pencil them in...wrongly done eyebrows can make even the prettiest girl look trashy.
I have been craving a breakfast salad. Chopped up greens, just enough cheese and/or bacon or buffalo sausage for seasoning, maybe some salsa, with two running yellow eggs to mix in as the 'dressing'. It's even better if the eggs are fresh from an organic farm. I am drooling just thinking about it. But I won't have access to the best eggs until june 9. :(
bacon in the oven with brown sugar.... mmm.
@octo, what is the "egg man"? do you have a man who actually delivers eggs to you? :o
Be careful with consuming raw egg whites... can lead to a biotin deficiency, even if you eat the raw yolk along with it... Happened to me actually. I love raw eggs and was drinking them for snacks for a few weeks, when my nails got very brittle and would break for like no reason. Also my hair and skin got EXTREMELY dry.
Also, I like breakfast food but rarely eat breakfast. But who eats soup for breakfast? the thought of chicken noodle in the morning makes me queasy.
all of the above. im a fat ass and i have never been a picky eater.
My favourite breakfast includes toast with a load of butter, bacon, red onion, kidney beans and fried eggs!
Coffee and/or tea (tea from a pot so I can drink it slowly and peacefully from my little glass teacups), freshly squeezed orange juice and sometimes, something sweet and gooey such as chocolate muffins or donuts also seem like a good idea and I practice consuming them on a regular basis. I never turn down a morning joint either (and maybe that's why my life is like this..).
If I have super tasty leftovers, I might eat them too for breakfast. Like some yummy coleslaw and fish. Oh yes. Cereal, porridge or youghurt with müesli are also nice, but you just can't beat bacon and eggs. (BEAT EGGS HAHA)
A million little bowls and plates, how unpractical. Why don't they just throw everything together so you get one meal with a decent size?
You silly little thing, forgetting all about the aesthetics. One of the best things in gourmet food is how pretty it is. Of course, very few people make their food look super pretty every morning (my mom does that, tho ), but it's really nice to have a little bit of eye candy whilst eating tasty food, even if just sometimes. It makes the experience more completely enjoyable. Don't forget about the music, pretty and comfortable clothes, some incense and a pretty, warm sunlight dancing on your skin. Heaven? Possibly. My kind of breakfast at the very least.
Corn beef hash with a slightly runny fried egg.
i think the flavors of the little side dishes (vegetables, greens, kimchi, sauces/pastes, etc.) act as complements to the "main" portion of the meal. when eating, you can grab a bit of the side dishes and eat them with the main dish/es, using them to add flavor & variety. keeping them in separate little bowls lets you pick and choose how exactly you wish to eat everything.
at least, that's how i go about eating Korean food.
Oatmeal.. the breakfast of champions!
Bacon and grits with a gallon of coffee, and not that packaged frappucino coffee, the kind of coffee that's really old and stale and they don't know what to do with the beans so they roast them until they gleem like plastic and then crush them into grounds and brew it really thick and bold -- and I drink it pure black. The bacon -- crispy and brittle and covered in hot grease from the pan. The grits, really think and grainy like sand with that soggy bread taste. I do it every day and laugh at lesser men with their nutrition bars while I can feel the grease, grits, and black coffee burn its way down. Then I finish it off with a glass of burboun whisky and a cigarette.
Everything has a time and place, IMO. And there's always someone who dislikes what another loves. I myself enjoy both... But some value the other over the other. You want a cheeseburger, but then again, I've seen my mom frowning over her restaurant plate because it wasn't pretty enough and ruined the experience for her a bit. To each their own.
My inner fatness (I'm a fat girl in a slim girl's body) likes many different plates because of all the different flavors you can taste separately and mix, like mentioned earlier in this thread. I don't really taste with my throath, I'd rather munch on many kinds of different stuff slowly and drown myself in the flavors.
I dont care about whether or not it looks "pretty" like aivuona does, but one big reason not to consolidate it all is that there are liquidy parts to each one that would mix and get all messed up flavor-wise.
I do, however, agree with you that it's a little impractical to be making so many different dishes for one meal (i dont think i would ever invest so much work into a meal)--unless of course they need no preparation... it's kind of nice to have a smorgasbord of different things...
Yeah I dunno, food never had to look pretty for me...what's the point if its just going to be mashed up in your mouth in a few seconds? As long as it tastes good to me. Im probably giving HK a heartattack...
But it's not. Not in a few seconds. I don't know about you guys, but I really enjoy eating for hours in a good company sometimes. Like, literally, hours. It's nice to have everything set up comfortable and pretty if you're gonna be sitting at the table for the whole evening. Of course, if you're not very visual or don't specially enjoy eating for long and a little at a time, this doesn't matter much to you. But to some it does. I don't see what's wrong with it, except for the "looking unpractical", which it isn't IMHO, you'd notice that if you tried it.
IT'S MY OPINION OKAY STOP BEING SO MEAN
Umm... I'm sorry if I gave a mean impression, it certainly wasn't my purpose. :confused2: You were just wondering about it and I offered my view on it. I do understand it was your opinion, my whole point was that different kinds of people value different kinda things because they view the world through different kinda goggles.
Uhh... I never saw any kind of conflict coming up, I'm very sorry if I seemed like that. Peace, I'm outta here for now..
Any sort of pastry is best. I don't have enough hunger or appetite for much that early.
More about pretty breakfasts!
There's this little cafe nearby, where we've thrown a couple of acoustic gigs with my folk duo. The last time, we got to eat this Luxury Breakfast meny they had... The atmosphere was amazing; there's tons of decorations all over the place (even the bathroom is decorated prettily!) and two dozens of cute, well dressed lolita girls drinking tea and looking pretty. Fresh strawberries in our drinks, served from cute little design cups... Scents and nice music... It was more than food.

Even my bandmate wanted to look cute!
I'm very aware of what's around me – I even got depressed from living in an ugly place and started to feel better after moving to a bautiful district – and even if I am able to appreciate cheap, good old junk food behind the grill stand (which actually has it's own beauty of decandence), it's a whole different kind of an experience to me when there's nothing, nothing to distract me from the fantastic, beautiful paradise landing on earth just for that little while. We've tamed the beast – it's time to play with it.
(Oh yes, I would've looooved the rococo era.)
Aiv, why are you listed as XEI? You're obviously Si.
I really don't like eating breakfast. Usually my first meal isn't until about 3-4pm; that's when I begin to start feeling a bit sick to my stomach because of the lack of food in my system. If I do eat breakfast, it's something light (fruit, oatmeal, etc) usually.
Offtopic, but shortly: there was a little controversy about this in my typing thread, some claiming I'm too edgy or intimidating to be SEI. So I decided it's the safest to put xEI in my profile, to keep the options open. Even if I think of myself as SEI-Si... Just trying to take more views into account. I'm sure my very likely possible Si will show through anyway if it really is there.
Ontopic: Just had a cup of good dark roast coffee with cream, and cinnamon on top. The sun is rising behind the lace curtains and oh, what a morning!
That's one of the dumbest things I've heard. You're just going to eat it, and never see it again until you puke or shit - does a pretty meal make your shit and puke pretty, too?
I don't care. I just throw stuff on a plate as quickly as possible, and eat as quickly as possible. Eating isn't meant to be an experience, it's meant as a means of survival.
Oww, my feelings are hurt by your harsh words!
Oh wait, no they aren't.
Had you read my posts, you would've noticed how many times I mention some dining experiences being more than sustenance-digestion-excrement to me. It's okay if you don't care for it, but that doesn't change the fact I do. I hope you're ok with that – it would pain me to know you can't sleep at night anymore for feeling troubled about someone fully enjoying a holistic experience of all senses.

I'm gonna have to quote myself here, even if it feels kinda dumb because I just posted this not an hour ago:

I don't know about you, but stone age is far gone here in Winland. We enjoy such things as art, design, literature, music, dancing, walks in the forest, games, jokes and good laughs with friends, and great food & drinks. None of them necessary for survival, yet still, they bring joy to those who let themselves enjoy once in a while.

That's because it is. Or actually, lust, it's from Crowley's Thoth deck. But basically it's pretty much the same card. And that's what I was referring to... Strenght/lust is about going beyond the most basic survival needs, and that's what pretty pretty breakfasts can also be about.
Okay, I can see that there are some practical advantages of the little portions (flavours, ect.). The reason why this looked odd to me is that I never make such a huge event out of meals, even thought I enjoy eating in general. When I'm eating with my family (once a day) the lunch takes about 20-30 minutes. There aren't any rituals or somthing like that, we just put the food on the table, eat it and put away the dishes. Anything more is considered either optional or unnecessary, I guess.
I must be the only person in the world that doesn't like bacon. The only way I like it is if it's drenched in really sweet syrup so it tones down the taste. It's so meaty tasting. It's like, the meat of all meats.
I also hate bacon. Honestly can't understand why everyone is so obsessed with the stuff it is either slimy or crunchy. Gross.
I dislike breakfast food in general. My preference is towards having dessert or luch for breakfast. However I do find Mexican breakfasts preferable to American. I also like Icelandic breakfast.
breakfast food is the best food. i'd be content to eat it all the time.
bacon is good but overrated.
My breakfast today was:
1 fried egg.
3 slices of Canadian bacon.
A fist-full of blueberries.
I like apple sauce.
My favorite breakfast food.

Another addiction for you....
Only 4 tbsp of butter and 1 cup of white cheddar....
All I will eat is oatmeal, generally.
I'm not terribly fond of a large breakfast. I'm an early bird and I feel very active during the morning, I either want to read something or start working right away. Typically, I will eat something sweet (like a muffin, bread+jam, chocholate croissant) along with coffee.
I have no rules. Sometimes I eat breakfast, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I eat like a pig, sometimes I eat very little. Sometimes I eat barbecue, sometime I eat brownies for breakfast. Sometimes I forget to eat until supper, sometimes I only eat breakfast...
I'm eating bacon (should've fried it crispier!) and eggs with kidney beans (I just don't like the brown ones) with toast and butter and cinnamon coffee. I want waffels and whipped cream. Boo hoo. Or blueberry pancakes. I make awesome blueberry pancakes from spelt flour and put the blueberries in the batter. They turn out all blue and yummy. And no additional sugar needed! Another good one is banana pancakes. I used to have a cookbook that called them jamaican.
I used to be one of those who couldn't really eat much in the morning, but nowadays, I couldn't imagine not eating within a couple of hours from waking up. I usually wake up to hunger.. :I But then again, I love eating, no matter what time it is. I wish I could eat aaaalll the time.
I usually don't eat right away, either. What I like to do lately is squeeze fresh lemon juice in a glass, add water and sugar, and drink it as I get ready for the day. Then I'd usually eat a couple of hours later, when hunger starts to strike. If I'm busy doing something productive, I postpone my next meal indefinitely.
