I had Sushi for the first time!

You know the feeling where you're walking along and there's a down-step in front of you you didn't notice which suddenly cause you to fall forward? Taking my first bite of sushi at that buffet, it was like that feeling happened in my mouth . Only thing I had seconds of in that place. lol woulda had thirds but they ran out.
I was actually wondering if that was some sorta fluke so the next day I insisted we eat at a sushi place. And I'm happy to say it was no fluke! With all the talk about the overfished ocean and how the whole world is developing a taste for sushi, I toyed with the thought of me being oh so unique to have forever missed the chance to have genuine sushi. Hah! Totally worth losing that hypothetical future ice breaker.
i'm sick & this feels nice on my sore throat.

One of those meals where you keep eating until you're full, then start feeling sad because you want to just keep on eating but you physically can't or you might explode. I had strawberries dipped in 70% chocolate for dessert, but didn't get a pic of them.
My mouth is still thanking me. And even though my tummy is now stuffed, the rest of my body is happy because it was overall healthy, organic foods.
first time trying an asian pear. its alright.

what is that on the right, a squid? it looks intimidating, lol.
Octopus salad.
Dunno what the green thing is but the texture is kinda like a squash or firm melon, it has light veins through its tissue and soft seeds, and it tastes like zucchini. The cook said it was some sort of Mexican vegetable, so maybe scapegrace or Phthlaadkjhaj08eaefehdfh398 know its name. The white stuff at top is hominy, and the diced yellow things at the bottom mixed with chicken were probably rutabaga (something about them wasn't quite potato-like). This was from a buffet I tried today that seems to rotate between various Latin American cuisines. Today's menu was Ecuadorian.

UPDATE: Green thing identified http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chayote
It's chayote.
I go to this Moroccan joint in town and it's pretty good except they put chayote in the kesksu.
Edit: I didn't notice your edit. Well done, sir.
What possesses a person to eat an octopus? Surely not taste buds.
Octopus is only good grilled.
like roasted spider?
octopus is not bizarre enough to qualify as a cult asian dish.
Who here has killed an octopus? It's easy. You stab it in the water, it bleeds (dark fluid comes out of it), you take it out, grill it, eat it. Granted, I haven't done it myself, nor do I plan to. But if I somehow find myself on a deserted island and survival instincts kick in, I might be tempted to hunt me some seafood.
Actually the traditional method for killing an octopus is to bite it between the eyes.
Octopus meat is nice, bit chewy. These things are slick motherfuckers in the water though, good luck just stabbing one.
octopus is super yummy :yup:
I'm going to post something here soon, have to get back, though, so "reserved."

I wasn't aware that "too much garlic" was a possibility.
dude i love garlic myself but i think i'll need to brush my teeth for about 20 minutes before going in public again.
the recipe called for however many cloves and all i had was the jarred stuff and i just estimated, lol
Fresh salmon was on offer so I bought 2 kilos and prepared some gravlax (a Nordic dish consisting of raw salmon, cured in salt, sugar, and dill) and sweet potato sauce. I'm a horrible cook but this shit is awesome. I really wish I had a camera, but I don't so this is from google:

Salmon is quite tasty, anyhow, this is what I have been eating couple days before, again:

Yogurt & berries in the cup?
vanilla yogurt and mostly juice that poured out from the bag of mixed berries i had refrigerated to thaw.
To remove garlic smell, soak with baking soda or scrub with a paste of the same.

Venison, green stuff, plenty of cayenne, tomato & bacon dressing that's better here than on a salad, plus other odds and ends. A dandy juncture of savory and spicy with a hint of the smoky and sweet.

That would be a porterhouse under that pile of mushrooms, onions, and garlic sauteed in butter and white wine. :o
Y'all have super flowery dishes. It's kind of amusing. Even K0rpsy and Lungs who I do not associate with floral patterns.
The plates I've presently got were found somewhere or another after all the others I had were broken through slip-ups or during my frequent moves. Any time I've actually purchased a set of plates they've been solid black.
A new eatery opened this week and they had so much business that they were closed today until suppertime due to lack of food. Menu appears to be fusiony and Asiany.

BG, have you ever tried a peanut butter & jelly omelet?
My LSE old man made PB&J omelets a time or three when I was pre-pubic and they were pretty tasty even though the combination might not make a priori sense. I wouldn't recommend them for regular eating, but in concert with a stack of flapjacks the PB&J omelet is decidedly killer.
It took forever to upload this. Its what I ate a couple hours ago.
Baked rigatoni. Cheeeeeeeeeeeeese. (:

that doesn't look nearly as good as it tasted. but it was too much

You know what, plus so-called Peking wings, though I'm not terribly sure how common peanut sauce and pineapple are to cuisine in Beijing.

I'm going to have chicken, fish and beer today. Pics coming soon, I think. I have to manage to not screw it up before actually eating/drinking it and taking a pic...
I want to move in with Korpsey. Those meals all look perfect.

I don't eat much anyway. This is my second meal and it is evening already.
