After ignoring all the Rush, Kiss, Nugent, etc. that my older cousins played when I was a small kid I was instantly hooked on Black Sabbath, so I'm pretty big on doom/stoner/sludge metal bands. The gritty sound and heavy groove combine to create an electrifying sensation for me, like feeling the hair-raising tension building in the air just before a massive lightning strike.

It's rap metal. But rap metal isn't actually metal.
Never really got into metal much more than some of the more mainstream melodic death and modern 'post-metal'.

I've almost always found hard rock and Metal music vaguely intriguing as a kid, but my friends (particularly an ILE) have really gotten me in to it in the past couple of years. Primarily, I started with metalcore, but I'm enjoying a lot of the other stuff, now.

Actually I don't regard genres as being that authoritative, genres mainly exist to distinguish different types of styles from each other, you can always create a subgenre to an already existing genre, so really its a question of how specific you need to be and how you classify the genre.
^^ joker, lol at the guy with the porno mustache
abba is the anti-metal
Hahaha! Metal... To put my bands here is like asking mortals to walk among gods, to expect conscience from a maggot. It sounds - for instance - like a blasphemy, to call Satyricon as "music", as "metal", names that you use to call profanity alike. What's called "Satyricon" is beyond words, beyond the human comprehension. I don't pretend that I understand it, at least not completely, but I had glimpses in its infinite depth. Or maybe it is just the door, the vehicle for the realization that we're but several grains of sand in a desert - practically "a nothing" in time, space and... something else; how should I call it, "condition"? Maybe. I think that the allegory of the maggot can successfully exemplify the difference between our low, base, miserable state and a potentially higher one; one can intuitively tell that the difference between worm and man is obviously not just a matter of more and less, it's not the capability of knowing and accomplishing more, the man simply lives in a totally different, hierarchically superior dimension.
In fact Summernight City is actually an ABBA cover.
