Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry

FUCK NO
wtf
He's like HARDCORE ENTp it's so obvious.
lewz0r
-
wait you mean the character right? because HOUSE is definitely ENTp, but i have no idea what the actor is
-
-
INTp, because he just doesn't think he understands and can manipulate people(like ENTPs), he actually does.
-
Then I guess I'm INTp.
:?
I've never related to a fictional character as well as I do to House. I'm not talking about his super intelligence either, but rather his personal problems and way of interacting.

House the character always just seemed like an Introvert to me.
When he talks with people, he has that growing state of apathy and exhuastion in the slowness of his speach that says, "Leave me the fuck alone. I hate talking to you." Seems like stereotypical IxTP.
-
ENTps can't get irritated with stupid people? Shit, I'm not ENTp either!
-
No, I meant in the way he speaks... that slow grumbling... he reminds me of me as well.
-
See, (ive watched them now), House has this certain snap to his humor, I don't know how else to describe it. But I thought maybe it was just him making a character, but it seems he has that snap in a lot of other performances too. It's slightly attractive.
-
Stephen Fry
-
Fry might be ISFp, and I think Laurie is actually ISTp.
-
Reminds me of Billy Joel through the eyes.
-
-
Hugh Laurie
-
I have him down as SLI. Pretty solitary fellow, likes to ride around on his motorbike and box, big fan of Steve McQueen (that's why House's pet rat was named after him). His best friend Stephen Fry is a very likely IEE...
Some quotes
"The buildings and the cruelty. They're very harsh people, the British: hard to impress, very tough on each other, but I rather like that. It's not that the British are more honest - you're just under no illusion with them. L.A. runs on optimism, enthusiasm and flattery. I think you can go a little bit crazy. I've heard people say there's a limit to the number of years you can stay in this city without going slightly mad. It's just too damn sunny in every dimension - weather-wise, socially and professionally."
"I know a lot of people think therapy is about sitting around staring at your own navel - but it's staring at your own navel with a goal. and the goal is to one day to see the world in a better way and treat your loved ones with more kindness and have more to give"
"Celebrity is absolutely preposterous. Entertainment seems to be inflating. It used to be the punctuation to your life, a film or a novel or a play, a way of celebrating a good week or month. Now it feels as if it's all punctuation. The people I admire are those blokes in Fair Isle sweaters with pencils behind their ears who knew how to design mechanical things better than anybody else in the world."
Recalling his father winning a gold medal in rowing at the 1948 Olympics in London: "He was in a coxless pair with a man called Jack Wilson. I've got a fantastic picture on my desk of the two of them getting their medals on a pontoon at Henley. I imagine they were playing the national anthem and my dad is very rigid, 'this is the way to behave', and Jack Wilson is loose and groovy and looks like he should be mixing a martini. I sometimes wished my father could take that pleasure in himself."

Interesting. I suppose a comparison could be made to Clint Eastwood if the son of a bitch wasn't squinting in every single fucking picture in existence.

Hugh Laurie - ENTP
Stephen Fry - ISTP

I thought that might be the case. However I have been prompted to consider LSI-Se, and I find it to be a compelling solution: IJ temperament, but more external orientation, casual approach to Fe, etc.

I want him to throat fuck me in a warehouse. He is hot.
Yeah he's right about the British. Haha that's why on tv most british people are evil cause they are good at it.
He has a kind of skewered perception about LA though. It's sort of that fake sunniness narcissism sort of sunniness. They still hate each other and think people in the world owe them something. Just like most people. The happiest people are probably the kids in the college towns, that are a one-up of regular middle class homes without being insulting, rude or uppity. It's really great and they don't know how good they've got it.
And he advocates therapy which is cool but you also have to have the 'right kind of therapy' which ideally shouldn't charge anything. So therapy to me, is kind of just another way of being a friend who cares. =)

I think you may be right on this one.

I mean, I've always loved and, to some extent, identified with House, but the part of the show that really gives me kicks is Laurie himself. He's just so comically brusque and dismissive, lighthearted but dark...

Yeah, a few Lsi's might be more zany like him, but most probably wouldn't be comfortable with that kind of attention.

ISTj ... Very confident in this typing.
-
Yeah, i've suspected SLI on the basis of his friendship with Stephen Fry as well who seems like an obvious IEE. He was also involved in the Blackadder series which had Rowan Atkinson in it who also seems like a Delta (along with Stephen Fry). Hugh Laurie and Stephen Fry were friends at uni before they moved into TV work too.

Clint is stiffbacked in that "old gnarled treeroot" way LSI's often have. SLI's ime are softer. I claim Clint for beta, not sure about Laurie. Hugh I think is Si valuing, he is eerily reminiscent of my IEE-Fi brother in a lot of ways (looks, overall vibe of Si valuing (eg style of clothing, choice of clothes etc. look at that open collar he has in the first pic posted eg.), focus of interests (psychology, sports (rowing eg), style of humour, see for example in the interview vid linked in this thead...). I am not totally certain of Hugh's type, but I can definitely see him in delta, not the least because, as others have pointed out, he is old friends with Rowan Atkinson and Stephen Fry.
The forum's confusion between LSI/SLI and EIE/IEE is interesting.

Then again, assuming he's an IJ and Fe seeking, he has simply become accustomed to it, so it's probably not uncomfortable in the least. *shrug*

Stephen Fry
I could probably have a pretty fucking awesome conversation with this guy. The lecture spiel of the website is kind of dry, but I was like, damn, interesting stuff, bro.
The Importance of Unbelief | Stephen Fry | Big Think

I think he's an IEE and thought so for sometime. In that text interview I see tons of :Ne: + :Fi: + :Te: HA
The more intelligent IEE's tend to be really inquisitive in finding tons of information on things they're interested in but in spite of all their self-knowledge they don't feel comfortable enforcing their findings on others. That's what I get from Fry, he has an informed opinion and openly states it, though is still concerned with being considerate towards those whose views he disagrees with
On a related note, I think his best friend, Hugh Laurie, is an SLI
-
I always thought of Stephen Fry as alpha. Regardless, he's effing awesome.

Hmmmm... this could be valid. Doctor Who is awesome. Certainly he can't come to MY quadra now. (not that beta was ever in consideration; he's def. not beta, imo.)

Oh, I don't watch regularly. I don't get the BBC Channel any more. But one time last Christmas break or something I went on a binge and watched like five or ten episodes. But I'm not a real Doctor Who fan, sadly.

I've always considered him to be ENFj. He reminds me a ton of my stupid ENFj friend I had in high school, and I know people who can attest to that resemblance. Not to say that Stephen Fry is stupid, because he seems like a very intelligent man :o

-
IEI or EIE
I lean IEI because he's friends with Hugh Laurie, whom I consider SLI.
