Dual-type theory: Exertion ENFj revisited
The behavioral patterns of the objective world (institutions, phenomena, rituals, etc.) are met by compensatory behavior (choices) on the part of the subject. (+Ni) These choices stem from the +Ne potential of the subject in response to the imminent threat posed by the realizations carried through by the object. +Fi motivations surface from the +Ne of the subject; the motives surfaced are signaled by the choices made. The motivations may or may not be accepted depending on whether they is desirable to others. The criterion for desirability is relevance to the motives of the object. (-Fi)
What this means in a nutshell, is that you have all of these processes, both within man's control and outside of it, which provoke people to make choices. These choices belie a person's motives, which may or may not be in the interest of a cause outside oneself. The criterion for judging the choice, rests on the integrity of the motive itself. Thus a choice that yields even poor results is not morally wrong if the intent was itself pure and oriented toward meeting the goals of humanity as a whole. (whether or not one's own goals are met by the same). The motive is always related to the choice, and by observing the choice you can discern the motive. (given you've correctly appraised the choice for what it was).
