Allie that is simplty stunning. I love the way it captures emotion..not so much strong emotion, but the character of the subject. Very naturally beautiful.

So I started by sketching, and then painted it in photoshop... :)

He was the most interesting thing at the state fair. I hate state fairs. I wanted to kill myself, but then I saw him—on his way to ride the elephant. <3

Thanks Minde :) No I just used a regular mouse for this one - I have a tablet, but honestly it just annoys me. It's too sensitive and I can't be bothered dealing with the driver software to change that, so I tend to use it very occasionally and then unplug it within 5 minutes after getting annoyed. I'm hoping to get a Wacom Cintiq in the near future (hello Christmas), this would be much better. Anyway thanks :)
A few pics I snapped last night while wandering around downtown Portland with a camera and tripod. :)

This one came out a bit fuzzy since it was hand held with a rather long exposure... still came out kinda cool because the train that was going by had some open cars that were easy to see through when it went by... allowing me to take the pic of the chick who was waiting on the train to pass across the tracks from me.

I've been drawing apples for hours. It's my first time using colored pencils for realism. I haven't used colored pencils since I was in elementary school, so I'm not really satisfied with my technique yet. Still life:

It came out better than I expected for my first try. The glass is probably going to be a bitch to do, though.

I love this one.

I miss the ocean. :(
A few pics I snapped last night up at a hospital up on top of a big hill overlooking Portland.
In this pic you can kinda see Mt. Hood in the background, I knew it was there while taking the pic but I couldn't see it myself, so I thought it was cool how it kinda popped out in this pic a bit.

I really liked this one after I got it up on the computer, shooting night landscapes is always hit or miss with me. I shot 120 pics a few nights ago and I got about 8 I liked, last night I shot about 40 pics and found 10 or so I think are worth posting.

This one came out ok considering I didn't even line it up looking through the camera itself, I just set my camera looking straight up from the bottom of the building and hoped it would look ok...lol. We had a really bright full moon last night so I tried to get it in some way. This was pretty much all I could do with it.

Wow. I absolutely love the trails created by the lights in that setting.
I like them. Which hospital?
Ssmall, nice pictures. Thanks for posting them. I like seeing far away places, especially when the pictures are well done and have the personal touch of being taken by someone I (sort of) know.
Allie, very good, as always. Yeah, I can imagine the glass is going to be difficult. On the other hand, I've had fun "mindlessly" drawing glass things, like marbles or cups - just turning my brain off and focussing on the values and shapes and hues. When I stop trying to make sense of what I see, it becomes relaxing and usually turns out better, too. Anyway, I look forward to seeing how you progress. :)
Cracka, awesome pics. Well done, man.
Thanks. :)

My first time really experimenting with color. Gah, obviously not done yet. Two white spots (apples), the background, the sheets, the glass, etc. all need to be drawn or fixed. But yeah, I plan on finishing it tomorrow in class so I thought I'd go ahead and post it here now.
nice fruit there, missy
Haha, idk what it says about me but for the first second I looked at that painting I thought it was a monster with the two red apples on either side of the green one up top being the eyes looking balefully downward and the spiky detailing in the jug as tusks. Total Rorshach moment there.
I'd love to see it finished. :)
I think it's interesting how you work from part to part on your works, nearly completing each section before you move on to the next (after sketching it in, of course). I haven't seen many people work like that. Is it a perfectionist thing?
If this is your first real project in color, I'm impressed. Are you using Prismacolor?
Thanks. (: I finished it a few days ago, but it's sitting in the school's art studio somewhere right now. I wish I took a picture before I left.
I never noticed. I don't know, it might be a perfectionist thing? Haha, the one I'm working on right now is of two girls, and I haven't even sketched it all out first before completely finishing one of the girl's eyes in color.
Yeah, I'm always afraid of trying new media, tbh. So that was my first one in color. And yes, so far I love Prismacolor.
I was coloring on this online paint program yesterday when I was supposed to be studying:
http://i365.photobucket.com/albums/o...taminwater.png
It was pretty hard to use, tbh. It wasn't smooth enough. Every stroke came out like a straight line, which was aggravating. Eventually I got used to it.
http://www.scriblink.com/
It's far from my normal style, but it's the best I could do on that piece of shit site. Anyway, despite going a bit overboard with the lines, I thought it looked interesting enough to post. Vitamin water.
I like it.
It's kind of fun sometimes to see what you can do with normally hard-to-work-with media. It's like a challenge to skill.
I knew a guy once who had a lot of natural talent though he never went to school for it or tried to do anything with it. One time he was sitting near some crayons and paper and started doodling. After a few minutes he just sort of shoved it away and went and did something else. Well, the "doodle" was actually an astoundingly dynamic and movement-filled picture of a charging bull. Not just a sketch, because it was more filled out than that. All in red crayon. *envious sigh*

First, of course - Nice pictures, Cracka! Those light pictures are fun. I should dig up one or two like it that I took during the summer...
Second, I have a sad story. Last night I was quite tired and needed to do something to stay awake until a decent sleep time, but I didn't want to do anything too brain-requiring (if that makes sense) because my brain was not in a mood to cooperate, having already worked quite hard all day. So I got out my Wacom, opened Photoshop, turned on some relaxing music, and just started painting whatever came to my mind. Part way into it all I resized the document and saved it as a smaller version with the goal of doing that every so often to create a sort of history, so I could see how I progressed and its development.
Well. In my braindead state I forgot to undo the size change. So I ended up working for the next hour on a much smaller document, one that I could never really do anything with, like print. When I realized what I had done I totally lost my motivation to continue, and almost cried, in fact. It was quite disheartening. So I just closed it all, put it away, and haven't worked on it since.
Anyway, I thought I'd share it with you even though it's not very serious in concept and not finished. This cost me a little less than two hours plus a few "Oh, bother!"s and almost-tears at the end.

It is a pity that you (cracka) have not uploaded more pictures. You need a serious attitude adjustment.
True, I should get beat up so here's another one and a small vid I made to test out my buddy's video feature on his new camera... (best in high quality cuz it looks like total shit when it's not. well, not that it's too much better anyway, again... I was just testing to see how it worked.)

That vid-LOL. I love you man.
Blue and gold and tan with white. :)
It was a pretty day at the beach, too, apparently.
It was indeed, and it was warmer there than here in Portland so I was ok with that...lol. Though on the beach the wind got pretty cold. :)
Some tracks in the sand from a dog...

Heh, the dog tracks look like something I'd try to take. I like it. :)
Here's one of my light pictures from the summer. Is it called light painting?
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i1...7/IMG_3264.jpg
It was super dark where we were that night. You can see the stars in the background.
Yes, it's called light painting and as I found out this past week, kinda fun to do...lol. :o
As for the dog tracks, it's definitely not the type of pic I normally take but I'm working on changing that...lol.
Another one from today...

http://i126.photobucket.com/albums/p...hehomies-1.jpg
ehhhh that hand... its still not right :/
This is what I decided to work on after my greenwood tragedy of a week ago. I started it off with the goal in mind of just practicing a little bit, nothing serious. Perhaps a bit of sketching, some simple modeling of form, playing around with color and blending. Yeah. Well. Silly me, I forgot about that little perfectionist in me; she wouldn't let me stop (and even now there are bits about the picture that nag me for fixing). So, here you go.
I'm sharing this just for you, Allie, because you mentioned wanting to see more of my work. :)
*poof*
Please don't quote.
Edit: Oh, and the media is Photoshop and an old Wacom tablet.
Very very nice, Minde
I forgot to mention - Your beach pictures turned out very nice, Cracka. You keep getting better and better, both in composition and technique and in post-processing.
Thanks. :)
I made a little time-lapse video from the snapshots I periodically saved as I was working on it. I thought it was interesting to see how I progressed from the initial sketch to the (mostly) final product.
*poof*
As I said before, the eyes and the mouth stand out to me. Particularly the mouth and lips.
Wow. It's beautiful, Minde. Thanks for posting it. Is photoshop your favorite medium? I'm amazed at what people can do with it.
Btw, the time-lapse video is great. I went on YouTube to watch the videos of others doing something similar because I find that seeing the progress is interesting.
Another panorama I made of 6 pictures.

.
I really need to get a decent camera.
Thanks. :) I don't know if it's my favorite medium, but it's what I've been using the most lately. And I do enjoy it. It's quite forgiving (yay, undo button!), and you can do so many things and go so many directions with it. ETA: I'd really like to try Corel Painter sometime, though.
Yeah, it is interesting to watch how other people go about painting or drawing. I can learn some good ideas and tips that way.
That was a load of crap, BG.
I like your pictures cracka.
Thanks. :)
While that sounds like a good idea, I can give you one reason not to. Bird Poop...lol. When I zoomed in a bit you could tell it was quite covered with it.
As shown in the pics here. You can actually see what I'm talking about a bit in that panorama shot, the little dark area of the water just to the left of that big rock.
This pic is a picture with that rock in the background, right next to it you can see what looks like a few thousand birds hanging out in the water. On the day I took these pics, it was insane just how loud this amount of birds could be...lol.
