would this be sort of like the difference between an intact raw egg (ego) for which the shell and its contents are one, and scrambled eggs (superid) for which the shell is supposedly crashed, beaten, sent away, and the contents poured out and cooked?
i am wondering where you mean consciousness to play into your question. if the ego is pornographic, how can it also be conscious?

sidenote : your mentioning james joyce makes me think of the term parallax, which actually (luckily) might apply here to your context for pornography. parallax, meaning the apparent displacement of an object due to a change in observational position.
