I'm checking out Mouse on the Keys right now. That one song I'm listening to right now "Saigo no bansan" (lol, it means "the last supper") - the drum part at the beginning kind of reminds me of "Apocalypse in 9/8" in the Genesis song "Supper's ready", only slightly faster , very progressive style, but also kind of jazzy. But, yeah, I have to say, the drummer is a genius. Yes, sometimes it also sounds a little bit like School Food Punishment, but that SFP is synth rock, so they make more use of weird electronic sounds. You should listen to SFP's song "Flow" - that's my favorite. The lyrics of that one are so beautiful, a translation of the chorus: Your voice overflows through this parched room, As though searching for water, I’m calling for you, Waiting for a favorable wind, I sharpen my ears, As though searching for water, I’m calling for you. I just love Japanese songs and the Japanese language, it's easier to express emotions with it, because they have a larger pool of vocabulary that describes feelings, some of these words can't even be really translated like e.g. "setsunai". Some mixture of melancholic and heartbreaking.
Blood Stain Child... is... well, I'm not that much of a death metal fan, well, growling and screaming. xD But some songs sound really good, e.g. "Stargazer".
Kyary Pamyu Pamyu... omg... that's the essence of Japanese kawaii-ness. xD I feel embarrassed when I look at that. Do you know Capsule? They make similar music like that, only the singer's voice doesn't sound that much like a 8-year-old's. Haha. xD Check out the song "Love or Lies", it was the main theme for the "Liar Game" movie, a J-Dorama which I really enjoyed a lot. Nakata Yasukawa who is part of Capsule also made the whole Liar Game soundtrack. Awesome. I feel like I have to watch that series again now.

I haven't seen those anime shows. I'm kind of choosey when it comes to manga and anime. First thing I see is the way it is drawn. If I don't like the style, I'm usually not looking further into it. Second thing is the story. If that is also interesting I'm going to watch it. I think, in this whole mass of anime there are only just a few shows that are really good. Most of it is only otaku-appealing stuff full of moe-characters. O_o Nothing for me.

I've heard of Perfume, but not really of the others.
I totally forgot to mention Yoko Kanno, a great composer, responsible for many good anime soundtracks. She made the music for one of my favorite animes Earth Girl Arjuna. And of course Joe Hisaishi, composer of the music for most of the Ghibli movies. My Japanese friend bought the sheet music for me, so I can practice the songs now on my guitar.

Yes, there is some Japanese music which I really like, e.g. School Food Punishment, Kagrra (unfortunately the lead singer died not too long ago), Rin'... But my most favorite band at the moment is Amazarashi. If you don't know them, you have to listen to some of their songs. The lyrics are so touching. There are videos on YT with German translations, that's why I know. "Natsu wo matteshimatta", "Hikari, saiko", "Bakudan wo tsukurikatta" or "Nagarunagaru" are all good examples.

Yes, I have. When I have time I'm listening to more of Phaeleh's music. All that I've heard till now is really good, though some songs are a little bit monotonous - if you know what I mean - and others are just awesome and send beautiful shivers down my spine. I'm searching for those kind of songs.

Thanks for the friend request! I had the same idea, but you were faster.
  7. Oh man I'm insanely jealous of you lol. I'm telling you, their music has literally brought me to tears (Infant being a notable example), I really hope they come to the US. But I've always wanted to go to Straya anyways, almost went this past year. Either way, I'm seeing them somehow. What other bands do you typically listen to? And was my sig clever or what? I hope more people check that link out, it's awesome because that song is my absolute favorite of theirs and it's a fuckin free download!
  8. They have a bit of a cult following in Sydney. I've seen them in excess of about 10 times live. They were the second band I ever saw live, actually, way back in 2008. Really chilled out, nice people.

They've toured internationally, they did Europe most recently. I'm sure you'll get your chance.
  9. Cool, another Meniscus fan. Are you Australian?
