"Perversely interesting" is a great way to describe pageant culture, and a lot of stuff I am fascinated by.

If that story is a good representation of Finnish culture, I would like to travel there someday. These days it seems a couple of people can't be silent with each other for more than a few seconds before one of them says, "Awkward!", and/or throws out a lame question to keep the conversation going. I like to communicate with facial expressions and body language. A lot of times, the words I speak are deliberately contradictory to what I am showing. I feel sort of flat when I write.

It's interesting that you should bring up the American overuse of the word "love". Ultimately, I think it really frustrates everything. When we really love something, or even like it, it is hard to get that across. My students call everything awesome or "the best thing in the whole world". I have requested that they stop because I can't tell when they mean it.

I didn't know that there was a sauna culture. I really like learning about subcultures in relationship to various geographical locations. When I lived in New Orleans, I sort of got into child beauty pageant culture (before there were TV shows about it) and I went to a pageant and pretended to be a parent so I could dig into that lifestyle.

I have been slacking on my beatboxing, but I got the idea to pursue it about a month ago. I'm a drama teacher and a lot of times I make up songs with my students. I figured it would be good for that.

I drink a little. I have tried to like alcohol, but haven't really been able to get into it. I still give it a shot every now and then. I like being drunk.

Yeah, I hate shampoo, actually. My hair is big and curly, and it needs some kind of product to tame the beast. So I need to wash the product out every now and then. At least when I have to go pretend to be a teacher and be a presentable human. Maybe this summer I'll forgo shampoo and see what happens.

I don't know much at all about Finland. I know where it is, but that is about it. It sounds like a pretend place where people drink cinnamon tea and paint their garage doors purple. And own lizards instead of dogs and cats. Are you a native, or did you move there?

I have been thinking about that art piece you described to someone recently. I think you just posted a thread about it. I haven't read your post yet because I am still thinking about it, but I will once I get some more clarity.

I find that to be a very difficult question to answer.



Right now I'm digesting a peanut butter sandwich. There are bombs exploding on TV. I am on the verge of summer freedom. My hair is 3 days past needing to be washed. I'm trying to figure out how to get into a disciplined beatbox training schedule. Etc.
