• MCV: an 'optimized' version of Te ;)

This is my second attempt at describing Te.
(NOTE: I HAVE ADDED AN EXTRA PORTION TO THE END OF THIS ENTRY, which is also written in the comment section.)

Te - What is this TPE doing?

TPE's actions are clearly defined, possibly readily observable.
(If a TPE is described as doing a specific action, the action term used will be definable, or, the action itself can be observed by another person.)

Info about TPE's actions are gathered from our mental constructs we have of TPE actions.
(This world is full of actions. Action, movement, and change is happening all around us. If we were to consciously attend to every singe action around us, we'd quickly go insane. So we learn, over time, which actions are meaningful and thus attended to...and which actions would be akin to 'noise' and thus ignored. But even the actions which our brain attends to are not all placed into our consciousness. Most of it is attended to subconsciously.)

Te is a Dynamic element. Which means that it is part of Systems of Interactions. However, before you can have interactions...there must first be action.

Both Fe and Te deal with the actions that occur within a system.
Fe gains it's info about the actions by the emotional and cognitive experience those actions induced.
Te gains its info about the actions by attending to the explicit actions themselves, rather than the experience those actions might induce.

Am I making Te sound too simplistic? After all, it's said to be a primary ingredient for Economists and Engineers. So surely it's more complex than I'm saying, right?

    Let's take a closer look.

Our understanding of the Economy is basically our understanding of a vast array of interactions and thus, of actions. It covers the actions of
    • extracting or harvesting products from the earth
    • manufacturing, processing and constructing finished goods
    • transporting & distributing TPE, servicing and entertaining people
    • intellectual activities such as researching and educating
    • high level decision making which would influence society and/or the Economy

An Economist is a person who studies these varied actions and interactions.

If we dig lower, say, in the Primary Sector of extracting and harvesting products from the earth, we get actions like
    • agriculture
    • mining
    • forestry
    • farming
    • grazing
    • hunting
    • gathering
    • fishing
    • quarrying

If we dig yet lower, say, in the Farming industry, we would be studying the actions related to Farming. Actions such as
    • preparing soil
    • planting seeds/seedlings
    • obtaining/applying water
    • obtaining/applying nutrients
    • harvesting
    • maintaining harvesting tools/machinery
    • selling and shipping harvests
    • seed harvesting/storing, etc.

Let's dig even lower...the Farmer's household. Actually, let's bring this a little closer to home...your home. What are the actions that occur in your own home? Some actions might include
    • making meals
    • paying bills
    • earning money
    • cleaning household items
    • organizing household items
    • transporting children/spouse to school/work
    • studying assignments
    • fixing broken items
    • playing games
    • solving puzzles
    • eating
    • sleeping
    • sh***ing
    • arguing on forums, etc.

Now, let's bring this a little closer to home..your own actions.
Exercise 1: contemplate your day/week/month. What explicit actions did you do?

When we start getting into details like that, the Te description may seem like we are describing Se. But Se is trying to figure out what this TPE is, while Te is trying to figure out what is this TPE doing. In this case, You, are the TPE, your attributes are the Se/Ne, and your actions are the Te. (starting to get an idea of just how much the elements work together?)

    ----------

Wait, you say, Te is supposed to be about efficiency, expediency, and optimizing actions. You know how elements aren't processed alone? Well, how the actions relate to other actions/TPE lies in the realm of Si and Ni. Te isn't about cause-effect, all by it's lonesome. However, it is required information for determining cause-effect and/or efficiency, expediency, and optimizing actions. You can't optimize actions without there being actions....iow, you can't optimize Te without some Te.

For example, if your goal is efficiency, you have to relate a set of actions to other actions/TPE, such as How much waste are the actions creating? How much are you paying for the actions? How much effort/energy is required for the actions, etc. Creating waste is an action, paying money is an action, using energy is an action, etc. You have to figure out how all these actions work together, in a system, before you can optimize the system. Te is the actions themselves, but it takes Si/Ni to help you create a system for those actions.

And this talk of creating systems, leads us to the common link of Te with Engineering.
Engineers apply contextual principles towards designing, manufacturing, and operating structures, machines, processes, and systems. An Engineer would require knowledge of a TPE's attributes, as well as knowledge of any actions that might affect the TPE's attributes/actions, and develops an integrated system of those TPE, attributes, actions, and relevant variables. As you can see, the process of engineering requires far more than Te.

    -----------

Te is commonly associated with method, mechanism, work, motion, operations, and taking action. It's assumed that the individual who attends to those kind of information is the TPE that is doing the work/action. And this leads to descriptions of Te types as being productive, hard-workers, goal-oriented, etc., and those with subdued Te are thus lazy drifters. But, paying attention to actions does not necessarily mean that one is doing the action themselves. Hell, a Te type could perceive a system in effect, yet kick back and do nothing with/about the system/actions. Maybe they'll let you know what you can do to tweak the system....but that's a far cry from them tweaking it themselves.

    ------------

I hope that this attempt at describing Te has been clearer than my previous attempt (which I deleted because it sucked to high heaven).

It all boils down to this...Te tracks the external/explicit activity of TPE.
    The activity may be readily observable, such as a car moving on the road;
or the activity may be defined, such as "the Farming sector produces and harvests food materials".

    ----------

I've already given one exercise above.
Perhaps another exercise would involve something like taking apart a machine and finding out what actions each part does. But this kind of exercise would likely be better when discovering the system of all those parts and actions together. (which of course, also leads us into Se territory as well. )

So, maybe something a little more useful?
How about making a list of the various actions you do related to money. How you obtain money, and how you spend money.
(oh look...the beginnings of a $ optimizing system...but note that your list is not the system itself)

    ADDITION:
Ok, I asked and someone took the time to give me input on this discussion. We figured immediately that it's my use of the term 'actions' to cover everything that I'm thinking of, that led to my not being clear enough in what I was referring to. And since I'm not 3-4D Te, I wouldn't be aware of the multitude of variables that gets looked at, nor the needed terms. He suggested the term "vector", which covers things like velocity, direction, magnitude, location (and change) in space, course/path, and such. (I had thought that I had mentioned 'location, motion, and direction', but upon rereading, I see that I hadn't included it in this attempt. sorry) When I used the word "actions", I was including the above vectors, in my head. I apologize for this poor communication.

I cannot write up an Exercise for this part of it, though. That would be better done by someone who has far more familiarity with dealing with that particular information. But if I do the videos I'm thinking of for Si, some of that will be automatically covered, I hope.

Anyways, I hope that this addition better clarifies what I'm trying to point at.
