Xenogears
Xenogears was inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion, however Xenogears is more refined than Evangeleon in terms of message and discourse. Evangelion offers philosophical premises that may or may not be true, while Xenogears aims specifically for a balanced (and perhaps more relevant) accounting.

I like Xenogears. I just had some of the music stuck in my head earlier today.
The whole album lateralus by tool is constructed using fibonacci sequences arranged in a tiered pattern. The album is basically a big fractal. It's an impressive demonstration of what metaphysics can produce artistically. I think the future of art, and especially music lies in the deep uses of metaphysics. Besides that the lyricist for the band is very philosophically oriented.
Jesus, Kafka is scary. The very notion that people could act that way towards their own family is atrocious. Sadly I've seen it for myself: years ago a guy not very different from the protagonist of Metamorphosis, who worked for RPGamer, killed himself after unrelenting pressure from his douche-bag father. What was truly pathetic was the father's whining after the fact on the RPGamer forums. Only too late he learns of the positive impact his son is having in his posts on RPGamer.
One of the things I like about Xenogears is that the antagonists are not really the "bad guys" but driving motives to which the bad guys are literally captive. It's nature which is fought in Xenogears, not human actors per se. I can sympathize with that, that nature is itself deadly and perhaps, mankind's biggest problem, whether its the nature of the world or the spectrum of human natures itself (a la personality relations). It is nature that is evil, not people, the nature created by intransigent motivations.
