    Default Quick Big Five Test

    Get a piece of paper, or maybe do it in your head, if you can.

    Rate the extent to which the following are usually characteristic of you (key below):

    1. Starting a conversation with a stranger.
    2. Making sure others are comfortable.
    3. Creating an artwork, piece of writing, or piece of music.
    4. Preparing for things well in advance.
    5. Feeling blue or depressed.
    6. Planning parties or social events.
    7. Insulting people.
    8. Thinking about philosophical or spiritual questions.
    9. Letting things get into a mess.
    10. Feeling stressed or worried.
    11. Using difficult words.
    12. Sympathizing with others' feelings.

    For all questions other than 7 + 9:
    Very uncharacteristic = 1
    Moderately uncharacteristic = 2
    Neither uncharacteristic nor characteristic = 3
    Moderately characteristic = 4
    Very characteristic = 5

    For questions 7 + 9:
    Very uncharacteristic = 5
    Moderately uncharacteristic = 4
    Neither uncharacteristic nor characteristic = 3
    Moderately characteristic = 2
    Very characteristic = 1

    Extraversion = Q1 + Q6
    Neuroticism = Q5 + Q10
    Conscientiousness = Q4 + Q9
    Agreeableness = Q2 + Q7 + Q12
    Openness = Q3 + Q8 + Q11

    For Extroversion, Neuroticism and Conscientiousness:
    A score of 2, 3, or 4 means you are in the bottom 25% of the population ('Low').
    A score of 5 or 6 means you are in the next 25% ('Low-Medium').
    A score of 7 or 8 means you are in the next 25% ('Medium-High').
    A score of 9 or 10 means you are in the top 25% ('High').

    For Agreeableness:
    A score of 10 or less means you are in the bottom 25% of the population ('Low').
    A score of 11 or 12 means you are in the next 25% ('Low-Medium').
    A score of 13 means you are in the next 25% ('Medium-High').
    A score of 14 or 15 means you are in the top 25% ('High').

    For Openness:
    A score of 8 or less means you are in the bottom 25% of the population ('Low').
    A score of 9 or 10 means you are in the next 25% ('Low-Medium').
    A score of 11 or 12 means you are in the next 25% ('Medium-High').
    A score of 13, 14 or 15 means you are in the top 25% ('High').

    I think each end of the scales are probably associated with some mental disorder or other. Do you really have low Neuroticism ?

    There is an application on facebook called "my personality", and it allows you to show the results of a big five test on your profile. If I remember correctly, there were 100+ questions.

    My results are:
    Trait Percentage
    Openness 90%
    Conscientiousness 98%
    Extraversion 75%
    Agreeableness 80%
    Neuroticism 18%

    Trait Explanations

    Openness
    You are much more intellectually curious and sensitive to beauty than most. Your beliefs tend to be individualistic and frequently drift towards the unconventional. You enjoy your imagination and the exciting places it takes you! Approximately 91.9% of the population has a lower openness score than this.

    Conscientiousness
    You are a perfectionist. Everything is planned to the last detail, and consequently you have been very successful. Your pleasures are long-term ones, through seeing your plans come to fruition. You are extremely reliable. Approximately 98.6% of the population has a lower conscientiousness score than this.

    Extraversion
    You are energetic and active. You enjoy and actively seek out social occasions, and especially enjoy talking with a big group of people. Approximately 72.6% of the population has a lower extraversion score than this.

    Agreeableness
    People get along with you easily. You are considerate and friendly, and think that other people are generally honest and decent. Approximately 84.1% of the population has a lower agreeableness score than this.

    Neuroticism
    You are extremely difficult to upset, since you rarely, if ever, react with negative emotions, and even when you are upset the feeling quickly passes. You are very calm and emotionally stable. Approximately 8% of the population has a lower neuroticism score than this.
    LII
    that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

    I was thinking about this big 5 and I don't really see the point. With socionics you spot something, decide the type of the person and thus gain information.
    With this thing you don't really gain anything: you just give a name to something you see, but you still have to see every single thing.
    I guess it could be used in describing people to other people, but that's kind of weak.

    Anyways, these are mine, I think conscientiousness and neuroticism are right, not sure about the others.

    Openness 80%
    Conscientiousness 76%
    Extraversion 33%
    Agreeableness 61%
    Neuroticism 18%

    Short response:
    E=5(L)
    N=9(H)
    C=4(L)
    A=10(L)
    0=9(LM)

    Long response, feel free to ignore:
    E1=4
    E6=1 (due to low conscientiousness..planning parties and events requires..planning!!!)
    N5=4
    N10=5
    C4=3 (I suck at preparing and planning things, and hate doing it)
    C9=1 (even when I try to organize my areas, within less than a day it's a mess again)
    A2=3 (I fail in the aspects of making people comfortable that involve conscientiousness of the practical/sensory sort)
    A7=3 (I don't normally insult people to their face except for shock value to drive home a point or more subtly as humor where the person usually knows I'm teasing them. I do have a bad habit of dissing someone behind their back, (they already know I don't like them so it's not like I'm being two-faced about it), but normally that dissing comes when I'm having to talk to someone close about the relationship/interaction so I can relieve some pent up stress and since I have to talk before I know what I'm thinking and need to hear what I'm thinking so that I can work on problem-solving that situation.)
    A12=4 (I empathise easily, but I won't enable some things!)
    O3=3
    O8=3
    O11=3
    (None of the openness had to do with..well...being open??? I don't consider myself a creative sort, I do think about spirituality but its an off/on kind of thing, and I don't have a complex vocabulary. Surely there's a better term for these things than "Openness".)

    This is what all that SLOAN, SCOEI, SOEN shit is isn't it? How does FFM translate into this?

    machintruc, I am telling you now, I do not feel stressed or worried a lot of the time, and I rarely get depressed. Hence, they are uncharacteristic of me. Hence, I have low levels of neuroticism. Don't fucking argue with reality.

    just did the facebook one. I don't know the scores seem kind of skewed as the test instructed those taking it to compare yourself to others your age when deciding what answer to make, this is kind of lame, 50% for each category should be the average.

    anyway I usually score RLUEI with agreeableness just a tad below 50 but everything else clearly defined
