    Default welcome/intro thread

is there one in the forum? i'm new here and was just wondering. most other MBTI forums i've visited have one

Hi, my name's Jocelyn, I'm 25 and live in the Northern Virginia/Washington DC metro area in the US. I am in love with music. I play guitar and sing, and listen to all sorts of genres (though mainly rock) from indie, emo, screamo, alternative, punk, hardcore, metal, thrash, grind, noise, classic to electronic, electronica, fat beat, breakbeat, drum'n bass, trance, a bit of hip hop, r&b and world.

I first learned about the personality types about 8 years ago while still in school but never really paid much attention until recently. I joined this site in hopes gaining some better insight on myself and on the other personality types so that I can find a better fit relationship wise, career wise and environment wise.

Usually people pop into the 'what's my type' section, but, honestly, maybe that's not the best introduction. It is nice to hear about the people who join as well as what type they think themselves to be, but all that seems more and more complex to me by the day (finding the truth of it, I mean). Some seem to arrive more clearly at a decision than others, but what can you say?

Anyway, I haven't seen you 'round here stranger, so hello and welcome!

Edit: have you given any thought to your socionics type as of yet, if I may be so bold?

Good call. We ought to have an intro thread.
Posts I wrote in the past contain less nuance.
If you're in this forum to learn something, be careful. Lots of misplaced toxicity.

Well, you down to earth idealist, one may you might begin is by taking a looksie at these type descriptions as far as getting a preliminary estimate of where you fit.

Due to differences in terminology and other myriad factors, types between MBTI and socionics aren't directly compatible. I would suggest you look at the ethical - x - introvert descriptions (though from limited stuff you said about yourself you might also glance at the intuitive ethical introvert) then work your way out across the rest. I don't want to color your perception, because really the respective typologies are rely on much different bases. Feel free to ask questions, advice, or post random nonsense as well!

this is socionics. Doesn't it say that on the main page somewhere?

    Here... socionics.us - that's a good place to start.

Don't feel bad though, I'm pretty sure 98% of the people involved in socionics found it through MBTI.
