Default The Great Leading Function Debate '09!

In lieu of the '08 presidential election, i thought itd be cool for people to make an argument for, defend, represent, explain their leading function and why it's the best and why they like it etc. i think itll also be a good way for us to understand the functions we don't get, are bad at, and/or don't value. So let the race begin!

I'm gonna give the cop-out answer and say there's no one best function.

There may be a best, or better suited, function for a given activity but how do you objectively measure "best"?

As for what I enjoy about leading -- I like efficiency and "smoothness" of operations.

I have no intention of campaigning for Ti. I do not know that Ti is the best information element. I do not even know what would make an information element the best out of the eight. All I know is that Ti just happens to be the information element that suits my individual thinking pattern best.

is to me just the natural way of thinking and seeing the world.

As to how I'd like to have other base functions:

    -- would be good, too.

    -- too "out there".

    -- too impulsive.

    -- too unrealistic.

    -- too "immediate".

-- not sure how that would feel like.

    -- too emotional.

I like my because it sometimes shows me things that others might not be able to see.

yes. and even though Ne can be unrealistic, the products which come from Ne are not at all unrealistic. after having been tinkered with by Ti or Fi, they're the leading edge.

just wanted to comment also that each function is equally valuable. however, not all functions are equally valuable in all situations. the key is to find situations where your leading functions are valuable.

the thread question begs for support of one's leading functions, great for healthy personal psychology....but only an Se dominant would want to get into a competition between functions lol. which function is "better" depends heavily on the situation and the relationships between people in the situation.

once i said i felt like my body was calcifying.

but normally i tend to feel homeostatic and clear. sometimes i feel nihilistic but not depressed. Feelings of disgust, annoyance and brashness happen when something's "not right"

for the record i did not mean to make this a competition- all our functions are special in their own way haha. i just meant to make it sumwhat relevant. neway here's my description:

is cool cuz it lets me see things in my surroundings that other people may not notice which makes me feel safe and self-assured. it also allows me to feel like i can accomplish anything i need to do which also makes me feel safe and confident. i like the feeling of having a grasp on the world around me... know what's going on- it makes me feel like i have an edge on people. it allows me to make a snap judgment based on sudden changes in my surroundings. this comes in handy with my weak when sumtimes i won't think about what the consequences may be of my impulsive actions- i can (almost) always pull through in the 11th hour. blocked with my means to me that id do anything and everything for the ones i love.

Mine isn't the best leading function though. Fi is.

Seriously though, I don't think that any information element is any better or more important than any other. The system couldn't work otherwise.
