Default Why do people dislike ISTPs?

    Why?

I only read negative comments about them on this forum.

Because ENFps tend to need to vent when they're upset and can't vent to the same people who are upsetting them?

I'm actually kind of infatuated with ISTps, but not in a gay way.

    Really? I haven't noticed.

I think I might be happiest when I'm around ISTps IRL. I'm happy with ESTjs, too, but they challenge me (duality isn't totally about comfort IMO) and I'm not as silly with them.

Simple answer: The forum, for a long time, has had a "Beta" atmosphere. Whether meant seriously or not, ISTp was not a "cool" type.

what a lame thing to put Betas on a pedestal... and ISTPs can be very cool.

look at Bob Marley he was a legend and probably ISTP... I think ISTPs can be somewhat: cold, egoistical, too reliable on themselves and so dislike others who are into group things. They can become very much hardcore individualists and value people in terms of how independent they are to spend money together. They don´t give value to people who are not independent as they think should be, criticizing it and getting away from them.

LMAO @ Bob Marley as SLI. Seriously, that's the most fucking retarded typing I've ever heard, the guy was as Beta NF as they come.
But, for a certainty, back then,

IME SLIs tend to be passive aggressive and/or impetuously crass, and are generally uninteresting.

LOL... KIND OF LIKE THAT WHEN PEOPLE TRIED TO PUSH AND PULL ME TO BETA QUADRA.

Every slightly interesting person in the forum is automatically labelled a 'Beta'.

This forum/religion/cult is full of people who´d love to suck Betacocks.

I've never been mistaken for a beta and doubt I'll ever be. I musn't be that interesting.

I think there's too much sucking betacock type threads. That sort of stuff doesn't interest me. But if that's what people want to talk about, I'm not gonna stop them. I just ignore most of that stuff. I want serious socionics discussion, dammit!

In fact, I got kicked out. I get shunted off to Delta usually, lol.

I tried to get into delta once but I couldn't afford their membership fee.

And you know about my fiasco with gamma.

I don't know, I think it might be kind of fun to sneak into beta sometime. We can support each other. You in with me?

One of the best people I know is ISTp. Great person. Actually, two of the best people I know are ISTp. I'd say it was a superego thing, but one of them EVERYBODY thinks he's the best person ever. He is sort of a super awesome upstanding citizen type.
Not a rule, just a trend.

IEI. Probably Fe subtype. Pretty sure I'm E4, sexual instinctual type, fairly confident that I'm a 3 wing now, so: IEI-Fe E4w3 sx/so. Considering 3w4 now, but pretty sure that 4 fits the best.

    Yes 'a ma'am that's pretty music...

I am grateful for the mystery of the soul, because without it, there could be no contemplation, except of the mysteries of divinity, which are far more dangerous to get wrong.

Mercutio isn't annoying. He's just ugly. Annoying is posting a lengthy 5 paragraphs about something you know nothing about and then getting positive feedback. Or PoLR. That can be pretty annoying.

Yeah, I don't think this forum could really ever have a "Beta" atmosphere; there is no real focused purpose, no actual goal or sufficient emphasis on implementation of Socionics for a singular end. In fact I think the forum's atmosphere is sort of inherently Alpha, given its nature.

    I agree.

I only know one SLI in real life. And he's really nice and kinda has some cool interests but I could never see him as anything to me beyond a superficial friend because he just doesn't have any oomph or something. It's almost like he's too much like me--we're both sort of lazy. I don't have much experience with SLIs at all. I like many of them on the forum though.

I think the dislike for ESTjs is greater than ISTps; as far as I can tell, ISTps are well-liked, although accused by some as being "dull" (but this generally extends to the Delta quadra).

Anyway, this forum's atmosphere has been characterized by every single quadra throughout its history, all for a significant amount of time.
