Default The Role Function in Society

How do you focus on your role function in the company of others?

I begin to tidy up myself or my area when other people are in the vicinity. I also randomly fix my hat or brush my hair. Some people have called me vain but it's funny because I completely neglect such aspects of my life in private.

I think I've observed LIIs exactly reciprocating social conventions not realizing that maybe more or less was needed. I'm not sure though.

    What about you other types?

    Except I do this too

    EDIT

I guess I try not to betray that I'm aware of everything happening around me? Maybe? I don't know if that's Ni role.

The only "for sure" example I could think of is spitting out rote answers when people question me about my Future.

I think I attempt to use it the most when trying to be impartial about things and judging people/situations through a more analytical lens rather than with my more instinctive sentiments towards them/it
I do this a lot on here too, in that I try to detach my Fi when typing as if I'm seeing the data like a puzzle where the pieces are bits of objective information that will all fit correctly to create a coherent picture. Of course it's hard to maintain that mindset when all the and signals are intertwined and are generally more apparent to me

Vaguely start agreeing with other people's plans or trends that will occur, like you actually care, and then all of a sudden say "well, I would have done it differently, but go ahead." Or just repeat what they say and go "huh" in an interested tone of voice. The interested tone of voice part is an addition for SEIs.

Hmm. Well leading Ni has a lot to do with being aware( of trends and overarching patterns).
Uhh, I guess you show others you are aware of where society is headed? Or maybe you are part of some reform/progressive movement. Or you wear pins and ribbons. Generalizations, I know.

I am silently competitive. Not forcefully so; but I get a secret pleasure from winning a game, etc. But I never brag. However, I am more openly competitive when it comes to competing with myself, improving upon my personal best, and so forth.

I can be very stubborn when pressured.

And still put things down in front of you and completely forget that you did due to focusing on your thoughts, am I right?

My ILE friend does this. One time when we went out for coffee, she put something down on the table, then seemingly completely forgot it existed.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's kind of cute

    EDIT

I think the stubbornness could also be Se ignoring as well.

That's actually something I've been trying to figure out for ages now

My best guess is trying to disguise the fact that I'm always really keyed into every last insignificant detail in my surroundings, but that doesn't seem like a very good guess

Hehe, you got me. I have an enhanced sense of awkwardness. I worry about what the appropriate response is in common social situations.

Maybe you worry about how you're supposed to have goals and plans for the future (in addition to working on them in concrete ways )? Career and school seems to be a big one with SEIs. Also, more short-term things like not procrastinating and time management.

ok, lots of people of different types procrastinate. The difference is, when I procrastinate, I'm usually confident that I can manage the remaining time so that everything will get done. By contrast, a type with weak intuition either will get started really early or really late, without understanding how much time it will take.

Thanks for the suggestions on Ni role. Could it be about wanting to be "deep". When I am with people I often want to show that I have ideas and that I understand what really is happening. But on the other hand, that's something that many people like to do. It also sounds like Ti HA.

I am easily influenced on plans for the future. But I thought that was more suggestive Ne.

    Sure, that could be .

Yeah, it's related to too. You could say Ni is about "having direction" whereas Ne is about "having prospects." Generally plans that take a long time to come to fruition and are difficult along the way (such as going to med school) are more related to .
