Philosphy is the love of wisdom. I can't really say if I like the love of wisdom, but I do love wisdom. You might even call me a philosopher.

that is what i was getting at. if there is an inescapable appropriation that is required in the act of understanding, this brings into question the validity of socionics in describing what is real, and hence stubborn contradictions that continue to plague me.

I enjoy discussing philosophy, but I don't love philosophy enough that I feel any kind of desire to pick up a book and read about it.

    aaah why you asking?

Does a tree make a sound if it fall in the forest?

I like things that make you think in different more exciting ways. Philisophy might do that but to discuss other philosophical things over and over might work if you don't have a tv around. Not sure if it would otherwise

An empirical reality or ontological reality? I guess I like "applied" philosophy, whatever that means. I like to talk about working definitions and mess with people who put a lot of stock in their philosophical models because it amuses me. Also I like using philosophies to justify things. So I guess it's pretty cool, as long as you don't fall in love with it.

I guess I like philosophy like I like a good hooker: you don't pay her to have sex with you; you pay her to leave when you're done.

    I might but I probably wouldn't because I don't feel like it.

Cool. Books are for children. Adults need TV. And Internet. And toilet paper made from the pages of pretentious tomes of philosophical mindfuck.

In all honestly, I like philosophical stuff, I just get really worn out, or sometimes flat-out annoyed by some other ENTps being all about it all the time. At some point, there is more complexity to everything than anyone can hope to get a grasp on. And while it's fun to play with logic, it's a game for adults, and just like all games for adults, it goes on too long and it turns out someone has been stealing the little army dudes and actually takes over the whole Eurasian super-continent. And it's usually me, because, fuck you, Risk (TM) can be super boring after you've played that long, but I likes to win, G. Dig?

Yeah, that's a good way of describing how I feel about philosophy. Like most of anything that I take an interest in, it's certainly interesting and I enjoy it, but it's more like a hobby. Or even a game, at times, particularly when it comes to things like epistemology. Ultimately I can't be bothered to invest too much into it in the end, though.

I actually love Risk. And I don't give up when I start losing, because people often underestimate you at that point. I've made substantial comebacks with a little patience and some maneuvering. The only time I give up is when I can see quite clearly that someone will inevitably win, and that by sitting around and continuing to play that we're all wasting our time. But I don't usually start suiciding, I just point out that continuing to play is redundant, we should declare that individual the winner and move on to something else.

What if you played Risk, but with actual people instead of little plastic dudes. And whenever you "lost" an army on a roll, one of those people had to die. Now, THAT would be a game.

I'm a philosophy major. What you have to understand is that there are different fields that exist within philosophy that don't fit neatly into the areas mentioned. Two that come to mind are Continental philosophy, which focuses on issues like, "why do we exist?", and logic, which can be divided into informal logic (e.g, fallacies, argumentation) and formal logic (i.e., deductive logic).

My favourite areas are logic and Analytic philosophy. I remember my first philosophy course. Of all the courses I had previously taken in university, it was the best match for my thought process. It involved theorizing, analyzing things logically, and had very little emphasis on empirical facts. This pretty much describes how I think most of the time.
