types are visible at childhood. And stay the same. Try to see it as something like Gender.

I had some ESTp-ish traits as a kid. Very bossy and angry. There was a group of friends that I always competed for the leadership of with an ISTj.

I was always a painfully quiet kid and in no way an extrovert, except for at home. In high school I was outspoken about some things, but was still known as being very quiet.

I don't know what my type is, or even if type is real, but when I first took MBTI in college, back in 2003, I was ENTP. Now I consider myself an 'introvert' out of personal preference/attitude.

I was a lot more dutiful as a kid, and I think that was in overdrive trying to tell me what I "should" be. I was also pretty miserable. While I still know how to be dutiful and organized when I absolutely need to, I place a lot less importance on it than I used to. It kind of helps that I work in an environment that allows me to be flexible, though.

I also used to be a lot more reserved than I am now.. the same lack of self-confidence that caused me to turn to and shun my natural strengths kept me pretty quiet as a kid.

In my experience, people are the same Socionics types throughout their lives.

Of course, people change. However, I haven't experienced anything that would lead me to believe that underlying personality structure changes (i.e. IM elements.)
