In the animal kingdom sex usually ends when the mission is accomplished i.e. they hit it and quit it, so I imagine not many health benefits. It can help induce labor though like toward the end.You sure that it has nothing to do with knowing you can have sex with her and be 100% sure that you won't be responsible for someone else's problem? Do you fear the consequences when you have sex? Financial or otherwise.... You may just have a fetish. Some do.

Look up "imprinting" it's the main way people get sexual urges and it can explain a lot of personal inclinations in sexual behaviour

I'm constantly looking to align the real with the ideal.I've been more oriented toward being overly idealistic by expecting the real to match the ideal. My thinking side is dominent. Actually it's an interesting topic @William. I remember being pregnant and surprised that there were people interested in me knowing that I was pregnant, even close to full term, I began a thinking process on that too. I do know it's fairly common as I have spoken with other women about it too.
I wonder if it has more to do with a desire for nurturing though, if a woman is pregnant then the natural assumption is that she has mothering instincts, I think there is something inside a lot of people who really want that motherly nurturing again and knowing that someone is biologically and psychologically preparing for it can be very attractive.
Not that I really disagree with your own suggestion, just offering up more ideas to add to the pool.
I wonder if there is a particular type of pregnant woman that you find more attractive i.e calm or excited, planner etc
