    Default Hairdresser talk..

    Function-related?

I find it pretty uncomfortable/ bit annoying. It just seems pointless trying to establish a rapport with someone I'll probably never see again. Though I guess the point is that they'd like to see me again. lol I'd rather just sit there in silence and watch what they're doing/daydream.

What do you think about it?

    Erm .. any hairdressers here?

The woman who cuts my hair is my mom's friend's daughter, so I'm pretty much a regular. We never talk about anything interesting though, which sucks.

If it were someone I didn't know it might be slightly awkward for me but no big deal.

i have an INFp cousin who is a hairdresser, maybe ISFp. he is excellent at generating this sort of smalltalk. i'm more like you, rubicon. i'll enjoy it sometimes but really sometimes find the talk intrusive, or i'll be too into watching them cut my hair.

YES. I hate when they want to talk.

So "just shut up and do your job" eh? That's a bit mean.. What's your problem anyway?

My best hair experience ever was at this salon where I happened to meet an old friend of mine who was working at the desk there .. so we talked with each other while the guy just concentrated on my hair and interjected random comments into our conversation. It was awesome. Other good experiences include ones where two hairdressers talk away to each other and ignore me completely.

I went to a hairdresser once. Wish she'd told a story instead of saying the same basic things over and over.

Seems no one likes it then.

I used to go to two different places. One was close to my home and I used to end up with same person cutting my hair who would go on about everything in her life and it came to me wondering if I knew her more than her own family. Still with a pair of scissors at my neck I thought it best to be polite. Other place I would go at lunchtime when at work and same person would end up cutting my hair and I think she used to mistake me for someone else as would go on about the clubbing scene she attends and used to somehow think I went to them all too.

For this reason (the chat, the time taken) I started cutting my own hair, ha.

I don't know about type-related. I would be willing to bet it's heavily culturally related though.

As for me, before I cut my own hair and went to salons to get a haircut, I remember going in with the hope that the person cutting my hair wouldn't make small talk with me. But if they talked to me, I would oblige. I preferred to be silent though.

The woman who cut my hair last did a crappy job... so bleh. She acted so scared of everything and like she didn't know what she was doing.... I had to tell her three times to do stuff. It was pretty bad. I have to go get it fixed in another place.

I thought I was the only one who couldn't stand this. The irritating small talk, some of them even giving me guilt trips for not being talkative, is one of the things that makes me dread getting a haircut.

    Others include:
-Not being able to follow simple directions; a monkey should be able to cut my hair with all the direction I give them.
-Trying to sell my overpriced products at the end. I buy organic shampoo which is free of chemicals and still cheaper, thanks but no I'm never buying it, no matter how much you flirt with me.
-Complaining that I haven't been in for a while. I understand you're trying to program me to give you money every month, but I travel so I won't always be in town, and I'm not coming in every 4 weeks anyway because you're annoying.

I take a book or magazine to read while having a haircut (I usually have at least a paperback with me anyway). Any attempt to engage me in small talk is answered with "yes" or "no" or not answered at all, while I continue to concentrate on what I'm reading.

When it comes to that kind of situations...why don't you just say "I have the right to remain silent. Anything I say will be used against me in a law court. If you don't stop I will apply some lethal kung-fu moves on your ass".

My hairdresser is my super ego and he looks like Diego Armando Maradona. He spends the whole session charging against my values...at least he does a good job.

If you are not gonna see him/her again, you should fuck her/his brains with a flame thrower.

Being polite is free. Non-Spaniards seem to be fucked up when Spaniards behave in a slightly friendly manner, BTW.

You make a great deal of small talk. Your heads would explode if you went to my hairdresser. He tells me about his ex, his views on poligamy, etc.

"That bitch took my car away. Then I married my current wife. She spends my fucking money and doesn't wanna give me head".
